Milan Baros is one of the brightest prospects in EUropean football today and he was signed by Liverpool in teh summer of 2001 but had to wait for his work permit. He arrived at Anfield in December of 2001, on the same day that Nicolas Anelka was signed on loan from Paris St. Germain. He was signed form Czech side, Banik Ostrava where he was called the 'Ostravan Maradona'.

Milan is a tall and skillful striker who made his Liverpool debut in the Champions league at the Nou Camp against Barcelona where Liverpool drew 0-0. He came on as a second half sub for Emile Heskey. He is similar to Heskey, in size and his also very fast with a lot of skill.

Many overlooked the signing of Baros and focused on Anelka but just as Houllier has proven with former unknowns, he will mold Baros, into a better player. Baros is already a Czech international and has scored a few goals for his country.

Baros also got interest from European giants like Juventus, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund but he opted to join Liverpool. Due to the EU rule, Baros will be restricted to his appearances in the Premier League but he will feature in the Champions league according to Gerard Houllier.

Given the #5 shirt, Milan will be looking to force his way into the side ahead of the likes of Owen, Heskey, Anelka (on loan) and Litmanen which of course will be no easy task.
