2002/2003 Overview of
Growler Events

2002

Oct 19--over 120 Growlers & friends attended the Grizzlies vs Chicago preseason game and pre-game reception at the Pyramid.  Guest speakers included Grizzlies VP of Business Operation Mike Golub, NBA Now/Pursuit Team Leader Gayle Rose, Grizzlies television announcer Matt Devlin, and Argo of 94.1, The Buzz.

Oct 29
--Growlers President, Suzan Quinlan, along with her son Max, joined Grizzlies staff to sell a special section of the Commerical Appeal  to help raise money for St. Jude.

Oct 30--opening night at the Pyramid:  Grizzlies-vs-Mavericks.  Janet was a finalist in the Grizzlies Scavenger Hunt.  She recieved help with some items donated by fellow Growlers.

Nov 1--
our first "away game" party at the Fox and Hound (on Sanderlin) attended by about 40 members. The Fox and Hound furnished free appetizers. The group also competed in Grizzlies trivia for prizes and team represenatives raffled  Grizzlies merchandise.

Dec 6--another successful "away game" party where we collected 3 bags of  toys for the Grizzlies Toy Drive.  Shane Battier donated a pair of his shoes which we raffled off for the cause.

Dec 12--Growlers Suzan, Max, Janet, Jana, and Jose', donated collected toys on behalf of the GROWLERS at the Grizzlies Toy Drive at the Adam's Mark Hotel.

2003

Jan 10--"away game" party number three at the Fox and Hound complete with several raffle prizes and half-time trivia.

Feb 21--over 40 Growlers and friends traveled to NEW ORLEANS to catch the Grizzlies in action in a different setting.  The Grizzlies fell in overtime in a very determined Hornets team.

March 8--first "away game" party at Patrick's (on Spottswood) and our first away game party VICTORY.  Several prizes were raffled including an autographed Lorenzen Wright basketball card.  We also collected money for the Sierra Wright Scholarship Fund.  Free appetizers were provided.

March 22--final "away game" party of the season.  During half-time trivia many prizes were given away including a full set of Subway Sippers, donated by Jessica and Jeff. 

March 31-April 7--Seven former teammates of Robert Archibald (and honorary Growlers) from Scotland, visited Memphis to take in a couple games and see their friend in action.

April 16--final home game of season 2 in Memphis  (as well as fan appreciation night).  About 50 Growlers sat together in section 132.  While President Suzan Quinlan was a Super Fan Finalist in the Grizzlies contest, winning autographed merchandise.

April 27--Already missing basketball, Growlers met to watch the 4th game of the Lakers/T'Wolves playoff series at Patrick's (on Spottswood).  Tip-off was 2pm.
