Bart's House 2.0 (BHouse2.wad) Bart McEndree April 15, 1994
A small house WAD. Does nothing for the genre. Bad texturing. FunDuke said it was realistic, which is obviously why theres a bed in the middle of the front yard. Meow. Underpopulated, easy action. Yawn. 2/5

BIG BOY (BigBoy.wad)
Paul Corfiatis April 1997
A big, mediocre level. Texturing is random, but there are two areas which look pretty nice, the beginning area and a red/SHAWN2 area. Architecture is okay. Action sucks. There's far too much ammo, and since I couldn't find the chaingun I was stuck shotgunning the whole way through. There's so much ammo I was almost always on full shells despite constantly using the shotgun, and I never had to tap into the bullets. There's also waaaayyy too many Barons, which you are forced to shotgun over, and over . . .

BigBro

Architecture sucks, texturing is random, essential doors are unmarked, action is okay, and I got stuck.

Deathmatch: Pending

Big Empty (BigEmpty.wad) Joe Hart & Jeff Pierce September 14, 1994
This level consists of a long, tall, wide gray room with a few enclosed areas off the side and a walkway up top. It's low on monsters, and you might have an ammo problem depnding on how you do it. It's kinda fun, and only takes like three minutes, so try it.

Big Juicy Level (BigJuicy.wad)
Dave DeBaufer & Dennis Bergeron July 30, 1994
A Doom II version of this ended up in the Maximum files. This is a large level is composed mainly of large rooms. Texturing is random in between rooms, but while in the rooms it tends to be pretty good. (The one fleshy room I found particularly cool.) Architecture is good in some parts, while other times not quite so good. There are some cool moments scattered throughout, such as the beginning area, which stars off with a large ooze lake which slowly lowers revealing ledges around the perimeter. As I said before though its long, and somewhat tedious. Theres tons of secrets (I never even found two keys.) Overall, as long as you dont mind randomness and can deal with some tedium, its a pretty fun level. 3.5/5

Big Mac
Richard Khouw September 14, 1994
This is an office level, of the worse kindcramped. But shockingly, despite this, its actually pretty good. Action is toughdepending on how you go, you might not get a lot of health. Architecture is pretty good; its one failing is that the texturing isnt appropriate at all. It uses STARTAN textures throughout almost the whole levelwhich makes just about zero sense to me. Mostly due to this, it ends with a 3.5/5.

Bigmaze (Bigmaze2.wad)
May 24, 1994
As the uploader mentions there was a Doom II version of this in the Maximum files. The file_id.diz contains only the description Just another level for Doom or somesuch. Thinking Hey 1_On_1 had that description too, I eagerly loaded up the level. Unfortunately as soon as I did I cringed. I remembered it mainly based on its shittiness. Big empty rooms, horrible texturing, totally off-grid design, powerups scattered as in a Deathmatch level, bad action, and I never even found the exit. 1/5

Baron in a Pit (BiP.wad)
Andrew Murphy April 6, 1994
This is a pretty fun smallish-medium level. Texturing is actually consistent: BROWN and GRAY. The BROWN part looked pretty good in my opinion. Architecture and design is pretty good. There is a somewhat odd, Arab/Egyptian-style music piece included. Action is good as well. 3.5/5

Bigtrap
Shof B September 28, 1994
A long, crappy WAD. Texturing is somewhat random, though in each area it's consistent. Design is crap. Action is mediocre, with way too much ammo.
2/5

Bilbo's Smegging WAD (Bilbo11.wad)
Bilbo (Brad Spencer) July 27, 1994
A medium-sized level with random texturing. Action is pretty good, especially near the beginning. Architecture is alright.
3/5

BILLY
Banjo Oblivion June 1, 1994
This level spells out BILLY in oversized letters. Action is bad, texturing is random and bad, architecture sucks.
1/5

BIOTECH
Lore June 24, 1994
A somewhat long level with bad design. Texutring at least is kinda neat in some places, and the area behind the blue door is actually kinda cool. Action is alright. This level is actually a pretty good place to experience Demon Horde Syndrome . . . always vaguely amusing.
2/5

Bites the dust (BiteDst2.wad)
Scott McCreary June 16, 1994
Hey, I remember this level. This is an odd one. Lots of Gray, narrow corridors, jumps, and such, plus an outside area. Includes a crappy MIDI of Another One Bites the Dust. Action is pretty easy. Texturing is random. Its not bad though, fans of offbeat design and Maximum vets might enjoy. Its small too, so its hard to go too wrong. 3/5

Bitedust
Dave Johnson May 17, 1996
A medium-sized level. Texturing is random, but the red marble area looks pretty nice. The new music, a  MIDI of "Another One Bites the Dust", seems to have a piece of another MIDI translocated onto it. Action is okay, but there's waaaaaayyyyyyy too much plasma.
3/5

Blackout
Robert Larkin May 17, 1998
This small level consists of a bunch of hallways which brighten up and darken seemingly randomly, connected to a couple of rooms via unmarked doors. Texturing is random, action is okay.
2/5

BLADE13
Bob Lange June 2, 1994
This author just might be my favorite of all time, simply because he used pontificate in his text file. But at any rate, this is a pretty cool level. Architecture is very nice (Doom-quality) and detail is pretty good too. Action is good until the very end when it gets a little easy. Texturing is good, though it changes from area to area. This is a very fun, medium-sized WAD that just about anyone should enjoy, especially nostalgia hunters. It is designed with a lot of one-way doors, which is also kinda interesting, so fans of offbeat design might get a kick too. By the way, the new music is Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565 by J.S. Bach, i.e., the Dracula theme. (Especially if you spent any time on the Wildwood boardwalk in the 90s, heh.) It suffers a little in MIDI translation, might want to substitute your own mp3 if you got one. 4/5

BLAHBLAH
Doug Ryerson January 24, 1996
This is a medium-sized level. Texturing is E1 and metal. Architecture is pretty good. Action is pretty good too.
3/5

BLAKHELL Greytale, Natx, Roach August 16, 1996
Well, this was a giant disappointment. The first level is actually pretty neat. The rest are long, badly designed and totally off-grid, randomly textured, with too much ammo and novelties such as two of the same keys sitting right next to each other. The texturing is so bad in these levels it makes Sandy Peterson look like a god.
2/5

BLAST
David Dione July 2, 1994
This WAD consists mostly of ruthlessly square rooms. Yes, friends, ruthlessly square rooms. Texturing is terrible. Most of the time the ceiling is low enough to emulate Wolfenstein perfectly. Action is easy; I spent good chuck of the time playing one-handed while I ate some Slim Jims. 2/5

Blast Em!
Russell J. Lauzon June 23, 1994
Probably one of the most amusing text files Ive ever read. You start off outside a large fort in the middle of a bunch of water. Enemies are all around. Survive. The action is pretty good, probably a bit tough depending on how you go about it. The fort isnt really that much of a fort, just a bunch of interconnected rooms and passages with an open feel, usually looking on either a courtyard or the outside. Architecture is nice. Texturing is a little random, but not bad. It includes that Terminator theme MIDI that was floating around the community for awhile, and some new weapon sounds which I actually rather enjoyed. On the whole, this is a smallish Wad thats a lot of fun; everyone should enjoy it, but nostalgia hunters and fans of offbeat design will definitely want to check it out. 4/5

Blazes Wrath (Blaze1.wad)
Brian J. "Blazkowicz" Rowan August 29, 1994
When I read this was converted from a Wolfenstein level, I wasnt exactly thrilled. And I was absolutely correct in assuming it would suck. Not surprisingly, it plays like a Wolf3D level, with all 90-degree angles and tons, tons, of sprawl. And theres even a secret you need to find to continue! Teh suck. The secret level, taking a cue form the original E2M9, is merely the Star Trek insignia repeated three times, with a different center. And one little anteroom. Pass. 2/5

SUI-Doom (BldgIII.wad)
Phil E Bute September 7, 1994
This is one of those wonderful WADs based on a real place. Its mainly that amazing GRAY texture, with the occasional other random texture. Its big, with shitty design and bad action. Pass. 2/5

bleah! (bleha.wad)
Walter "Daimon" Confalonieri December 3, 2006
An odd one. The music sounds very similar to what Doomworld used to use for Post Hell (meaning its loud and obnoxious), which makes me think its probably a joke WAD from some dumb inside joke on the forums. Then again, it could be a ploy to get people to turn off the music. But probably not. Architecture is good, and detail is too; the author says its inspired by the Spawning Vats, and it shows. But at the same time, theres also noobish things like crowds of zombies and big plasma packs strewn all over the ground. So I dont know whats up with this level. Theres one kinda cool area at the end, but theres probably no reason to play this unless you really like E2M7, or something. 3/5

BLEW
Eric Olivares and Doug Hodges May 22, 1994
Crashes jDoom, by the way. This is a small wad. Design is somewhat off-grid and texturing (which is mainly E1) is crappy in places. Action is somewhat easy but if youre not careful you can die. It also has to most retarded exit switch Ive ever seen: Its unmarked, you cant even see the switch part, and its right outside the beginning hallway. Despite all this there are two pretty cool looking places so Id download it just to see them but otherwise: 2/5

Blitz of Pain (Blitz.wad)
Jim McColm December 6, 1994
Another big, sprawling level. It's a bit open-ended, which is nice. Texturing is random. Action is alright, but I couldn't figure out how to get the chaingun, which kinda screwed things up. The final battle is pretty good. If you like these kinds of levels, go for it, but for everyone else it's totally forgettable.
3/5

Blood Bath (BlodBth.wad)
Jordan Sindelar August 12, 1995
Contrary to the text file, it's E3M2, not E3M3. It's pretty fun overall. It's on the short side. Design is pretty good. Texturing is random but not bad. Action is okay, with few monsters and a lot of ammo. Architecture is okay. For whatever reason I ended up liking this level, so:

Blood
Jim McColm March 26, 1995
Before you play this, load it up in Wintex and look through the lumps. When you find the one that starts playing music (I think it was QW) rename it D_E1M1 so the music will play. Now then. This is one of the best WADs I've played in a while. Design is very good (and a bit reminiscent of E4M5 is some places). There are a few situations where the architecture shifts around; very cool and very well done. Design is also open-ended in the beginning, which rocks.  Architecture is good as well. Texturing is mainly GSTONE with a few exceptions and a brief layover in a tech base. Action will vary depending on which route you take. The one I took left me with low ammo and a lot of monsters, which made things pretty interesting. In the end you'll probably end up with more ammo than you need. Overall, a kick-ass WAD. Play it.

Bloodkey
Mark Marusak October 1, 1994
The beginning area of this level is actually kinda cool. After that though the texturing gets random and the design somewhat crappy. Action is good, and the level is small. 3/5

Bloodfeast (BloodFst.wad)
K.Maple July 29, 1994
Kinda big. Mazy. Pretty random texturing. Easy action. Mediocre architecture and detail. Second level is smaller but worse. Yeah. 3/5

Blood's Revenge (BloodRev.wad)
Jason Dyer November 19, 1994
The levels are E3M1-E3M2. (It's rather unclear from the text file.) Two smallish-medium levels, both of which suck. Bad design, random texturing (with a slant towards E3 in the first level), bad action, no architecture.

BLT
Neal Ziring June 29, 1994
This is a smallish-medium level with random texturing. Design is okay. Not much in architecture. Action is mediocre, mainly because I never found the chaingun.

This level was included in BLT.zip. This is a small level with a lake and a few side passages. Texturing is random, not much architecture. Action is easy, thanks to a plasma rifle and lots of plasma. The music, a Bach piece, ain't that good.
