| Shirley Barnes believes that only the first child Nicholas belonged to Hannah Hill and that the next two children were of Hannah Matteson because of the gaps between the 1st and 2nd children. He was married to Hannah HILL about 1722.9 | ||||||||||||||||

| Property | ||||||||||||||||
| In 1751 Pasco Whitford bought 80 acres of land from Gideon Brayton at Tarbox Corner in East Greenwich, RI. This land was originally granted to the Knight family in 1677, sold to Gideon Freeborn 1688, deeded to his daughter Mary and her husband Thomas Brayton and then passed on to their son Gideon Brayton in 1721. The house on this property has been dated at 1738 and was still standing in 1971. The property passed from the Whitfords to the Tarbox family possibly thru an inheritance to Pasco's granddaughter Easter (Esther?) who married Joseph Tarbox in 1788. Source: The East Greenwich Packet - Fall 1971 Vol 1 no 2. There are two pictures of the house and history of the house since that time in the newspaper article (on file.)9 | ||||||||||||||||
| Notes for Job (Child 2) | ||||||||||||||||

| Misc. Notes | ||||||||||||||||
| "My Uncle was a very feeble man through life. They had three sons and two daughters, Henry, Rufus and Jesse, Molly and Sarah. They moved to Hampton about 1790. Henry had fits at three years old which rendered him ever afterward incapable of taking care of himself. He lived until after the death of his Mother and Father; and then his brother, Rufus, sent him to the town in Rhodeisland where he was born, where he died in the poor-house." The History of the Whitford Family - William Whitford 18619 | ||||||||||||||||
| Notes for Thomas (Child 3) | ||||||||||||||||
| There is disagreement over the mother of Thomas Whitford, son of Pasco. Pasco definitely had 3 wives: 1) Hannah Hill, 2) Hannah Matteson and 3) Elizabeth Sweet. The 2 theories are that Hannah Hill had only 1 child and the next 8 were Hannah Mattesons (because of the spacing of the children) or that Hannah Hill had the first 3 children and Hannah Matteson had the next 6 children (because of location of births - first 3 were in East Greenwich and the next 6 were in West Greenwich.) I think I lean toward the second theory since there is still a 3 year gap between Thomas and Solomon. The gap between the first 2 children could easily be explained by a still birth that was not recorded. 9 | ||||||||||||||||
