Notes for Thomas Whitford
There is disagreement over the mother of Thomas
Whitford, son of Pasco. Pasco definitely had 3 wives: 1) Hannah Hill,
2) Hannah Matteson and 3) Elizabeth Sweet. The 2 theories are that
Hannah Hill had only 1 child and the next 8 were Hannah Mattesons
(because of the spacing of the children) or that Hannah Hill had the
first 3 children and Hannah Matteson had the next 6 children (because of
location of births - first 3 were in East Greenwich and the next 6 were
in West Greenwich.) I think I lean toward the second theory since there
is still a 3 year gap between Thomas and Solomon. The gap between the
first 2 children could easily be explained by a still birth that was not
recorded. 9

Notes for Pasco (Child 3)
"On that journey [the journey to rescue Clothier Whitford
and his family after the Battle of Plattsburg] I saw for the first and last time my Cousin Pasco. He sold out, went to Edwardsville, New York, laid out $7000 in Mills with his soninlaw Austin and soon died. I have visited the place twice since his death, the property squandered in law suits. He had two sons - daughters living near where their father died." History of the
Whitford Family - William Whitford - 18619

14 Oct 1818 Pasco Whitford and wife Amy of Norway, Herkimer, NY for $200 sold to John Whitford, son of Constant, of Coventry, the E. Greenwich land he received from father Thomas, dec. Amy, wife of Pasco, yeilded her dower, Wit. Anthony and Sarah Tarbox.9

Notes for Isaac (Child 6)
"Cousin Isaac came into this section of the country more than sixty years since, returned back to Rhode I9sland, settled and was living there forty years ago when I visited that section; was not a very prominent citizen by what I could learn, rather dissipated in his morals. I believe he had no children." William Whitford - History of the Whitford Family - 1861
8 Jun 1818 E. Greenwich - Isaac and wife Edith of Coventry sold the East Greenwich land rec'd from his father to Thomas Reynolds (all intereste in land of my father, Thomas Whitford, Dec.9
Notes for Green (Child 7)
"My cousin Green had a large family of children went to Puts Creek, New York near his brother Constant, where he was quite a bear hunter, was treed by one on one of his hunting
excursions, had to remain out in the tree all night. Had some ten children
by his first wife. Their names as far as I now recollect were, Jimina,
Clothier, Hiram, Thomas, Sylvanus, Allen, Diminas, Celia, and Anna, the
others have slipped my mind. His second wife was Col. Gray's sister of
Bridport by whom he had four children (one was deaf and dumb) was
sent to the asylum and learned to read and write. James, his son, became
a Methodist preacher, married Aaron Hinde's daughter, Amanda Hindes.
They went West, had three daughters. He accidentally shot his
wife which nearly overpowered his mind but in time settled again and is
now in Iowa preaching and farming with a small family. His eldest
daughter died soon after her Mother was shot. His babe he gave to Mrs. Jones
who brought her up in right shape and is a fine young woman, Evansville,
Wisconsin. His second daughter married a Methodist preacher by the name
of Cammeron and is in Minnesota or Iowa preaching. Cousin Green started
for the West with his second wife and children, died on the way, his wife
and family returned to her friends in Bridport, then moved to Moriah where
some of them now live; I believe the widow is dead." Source William
