| The actual origins of Tarot are unknown, though the first known deck of cards which has been recorded appeared in the 15th century in Italy, and were used in a game called Tarochii. This deck was a hand painted deck made as a wedding present between the Sforza and Visconti Families. Playing cards of any kind are mentioned in Europe around fifty years early, but this is the first known tarot deck as we recognise them today.
