Chapter 15: The Rings

Chapter Nine: Another Time, Another Place

New Characters: Alternate Lt. Commander Jakob Grey

Arriving in an STU, the TerrSec-controlled Archangel encounters the Fort Collins, a science vessel that is exploring uncharted space. Finding it to be a threat, the Archangel opens fire on the weaker ship, crippling it and killing all but one of the crew before warping away. Minutes later, the Revanche emerges into the same universe in pursuit of the Archangel. Keith convinces Captain Redding to help the ship and he and Hudzen go to the transporter room to beam the lone survivor aboard. The survivor turns out to be Lt. Commander Jakob Grey, a dimensional counterpart to the former XDCA agent. Hudzen stuns Grey and takes him to the brig. In Sickbay, Jackson recovers from the Ebonics virus while Greymoran continues to recuperate from TerrSec imprisonment.

Redding and Durgin do ask Grey a few questions before taking the officer to the med lab. There, they learn that Grey is a dimensional counterpart of their greatest enemy. Hoping to calm this Grey about what he may learn about his counterpart, Sorik performs a mind meld. He also tells alt-Grey all of the information about the war with alt-Grey and the XDCA. Minutes later, Greymoran wakes up. After learning about alt-Grey, Greymoran accompanies Sorik to the bridge.

On the bridge, Jackson detects the Archangel, on course for an attack on a defenseless farming colony. The Revanche warps to intercept. Not long after, the Revanche arrives at the colony, under attack from the Archangel. The Revanche decloaks and, taking the advantage of surprise, quickly punches a hole through the Archangel's shields. Greymoran, Sorik, Hudzen, Jackson, Haer'Dalis, and Keith beam aboard to retake the ship. They begin to quickly retake the ship and Ahz appears, creating a magical door to the bridge. With the Archangel back in XDCA hands, Rita and the alternate Jake Grey beam aboard while Carrie is transferred back into the ship's computer. The Fort Collins arrives, partially repaired courtesy of the Revanche's computer, Maxine.

Meanwhile, Jakob Grey, enemy of the XDCA, has detected the Archangel and Revanche. He prepares to attack.

The cheerful atmosphere that is present on the Archangel after the retaking of the ship is made even better when they receive the news that Greymoran's son, Captain Tacoman, has had twin children with his "current flame" Butrfli. The happiness soon ends, however, quickly ends when the Macedonia 1, appears out of nowhere, utilizing the non-portal dimensional technology. The attack on the Archangel and Revanche is short and one-sided. Hoping to save the XDCA ships, the alt-Jake Grey convinces his insane counterpart to allow the Fort Collins to dock. As the science vessel approaches, alt-Grey engages the Warp Drive, slamming the vessel into the Macedonia 1. Most of Greys ships, including the I, Claudius and Red Wizard, are destroyed along with the non-portal Dimensional Drive. As the Macedonia 1 goes critical, Grey's remaining fleet scatters. Grey and TorGal escape on the Galaxy-Class Starship Yamato. After Haer'Dalis returns to the Revanche, the XDCA ships separate again as the Revanche pursues a pair of Star Destroyers into a Babylon 5 universe while the Archangel decides to head for Wing Commander Universe #9, in pursuit of a Cylon Basestar and a retreating Grey.

Chapter Ten: The Head of Caesar

New Characters: Senator Lambert, Senator Mkasi, Aetius, the Kilrathi, the Jem'Hadar, Greyvirus

An hour after the destruction of Macedonia 1, Keith and Sorik prepare to take a shuttle to WCU-9's Earth to inform the Terran Confederation of the situation. As they prepare to depart, Rita arrives to see them off. Before leaving, Rita tells Keith that she's pregnant with their child. With the good news, the shuttle departs. The shuttle soon arrives at its destination only to find an Earth undergoing a nuclear winter. They're soon attacked by a fleet of Kilrathi ships, the Confederation's enemy. The shuttle escapes into a dimensional portal but without setting a destination and losing a nacelle in the process. They emerge into the atmosphere of a Class-M planet and the shuttle plummets toward the ground. It crashes near the ocean, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

Onboard the Archangel, Jackson has a few problems in Sickbay but is quickly deemed healthy and fit for duty. After learning of the shuttle's second portal, Greymoran still decides to go after Grey first. The Archangel sets a course for WCU-9.

On the planet, Keith and Sorik leave the shuttle and spot an early 20th century era biplane with the symbol of the Roman Empire on it as it flies over the crash site. They quickly find that they are on Easter Island on Earth and must hide when they hear horses approaching. After seeing the search party, Romans carrying 20th century firearms, they realize that they are on an alternate version of Earth. After the search party leaves, the human and the Vulcan make their way to a nearby city.

Meanwhile, the Archangel emerges into WCU-9, entering right into the middle of a battle between the Cylon Basestar and several Terran Confederation starships. The Archangel attacks the Basestar and takes heavy damage. To make matters worse, Hudzen malfunctions, causing him to fire on the Terran ships. Greymoran has him leave the bridge. Jackson finally finds a weak spot on the Basestar and the Cylon ship is soon destroyed. Not long after the end of the fight, Jackson locates the Yamato's warp signature. The Archangel jumps to warp in pursuit.

In Engineering, after putting the crew through some confusing moments, Hudzen shuts down, entering a program that he will use to repair himself. There, he meets a figure identical to the EMH Mark I. The figure explains to Hudzen that something is very wrong with him and that he needs to find different aspects of his mind, represented by his droid bodies. They begin to search.

In the meantime, Keith and Sorik enter the nearby city but they are quickly discovered by a Roman patrol. They are taken to the nearby office of Senator Lambert. There, the senator reveals to them that he knows of their crashed ship and he also tries to determine if they are part of a conspiracy to overthrow the Republic. After deciding that they are not, Lambert decides to send the two outlanders on an assignment to Africa, where he believes the mastermind behind the conspiracy resides. He has Sorik and Keith dressed as guards and "reassigned" to the African continent.

Hudzen finishes his mental search and discovers from an image of Data that Jake Grey did something to him and that it is his work that is causing the problems. Seconds later, Hudzen finds himself face to face with an image of Jakob Grey.

Back on the Roman Earth, Senator Lambert is assassinated by one of his guards. Keith and Sorik arrive in Africa. They meet Aetius, the chief of security for Senator Mkasi, Keith and Sorik's new assignment. They soon meet the senator, who begins to question them on the reasons for their transfer. Not wishing to waste time, Sorik flat out asks Mkasi about his involvement in the conspiracy. Mkasi, now knowing them to be spies for Lambert, has Sorik and Keith arrested before revealing to the two that it is he who is behind the conspiracy to overthrow the emperor and take over Rome.

In Hudzen's head, Hudzen learns from the Grey image that the real Jake Grey inserted an invasive program into Hudzen when he suspected that the robot would turn on him. It will eventually overrun Hudzen's programming and he will be a loyal soldier to Jake Grey. After learning this information, and possible ways to stop it Hudzen reactivates, his repairs as complete as they can be. He returns to the bridge. As the Archangel continues to pursue the Yamato, the Galaxy-Class vessel slows to a stop and waits for the Archangel to come.

Meanwhile, Keith and Sorik are escorted out of Mkasi's office by several guards. Sorik quickly finds an opportunity and attempts escape. After a brief scuffle, they are able to incapacitate the guards and Mkasi. Free for the moment, they try to decide the next course of action.

As the Archangel approaches the Yamato, a portal opens near Greys ship and two JemHadar Attack Ships emerge. With the odds now stacked heavily against them, Greymoran orders a Code Red Battle Alert as they close in on the waiting Grey.

Chapter Eleven: Space Station Down

Author's Forward: This section contains the third LICC crossover.

New Characters: Kira Nerys, Ensign Yellowshirt

The Archangel is met by a barrage of torpedoes as soon as she enters range. The Jem'Hadar ships keep the XDCA starship busy while the Yamato takes easy shots at her. Thanks largely in part to Rita's skilled piloting, the Dominion ships are destroyed. However, the small victory comes at a great cost. Already heavily damaged from the battle with the Cylon and by the further fighting with the Attack ships, Rita uses almost all of the ship's power to stop the Jem'Hadar ships. The Archangel is completely dead in space and adrift, floating toward a firey rendevous with a comet and an easy target for the Yamato. Grey decides to spare the ship and leaves the ship to its fate with the comet.

On the Roman Earth, Keith decides to create a little chaos to prevent the emperor from visiting the African city where the assassination is to take place. He decides to blow up a nearby statue. Sorik refuses to help but Keith still manages to create a crude explosive device and waits for the evening to come. That night, he executes his plan, blowing off the statue's head and creating the stir that he hoped for. After his little terrorist act, Keith decides with Sorik that they need to find a way out of the city. They decide to return to Malta by way of biplane. They soon find one and take off.

Aboard the Archangel, nearly every system is dead. Jackson treats Greymoran and Rita, both injured at the end of the battle. In the process, he discovers Rita's pregnancy. Carrie manages to stabilize the spinning but Jackson finds that the ship is beyond their ability to repair. With the portal generator still working, Greymoran decides to take the ship to STU-90 so in order to reach the proper repair facilities. However, the ship still needs to restore power and some systems before they can get anywhere or contact anyone. Jackson discovers that the dimensional comm is still active and he contacts the LICC for help. Not long after, the Spidermobile arrives. Several repair teams beam aboard the Archangel to help. The crews are reunited and the LICC meets Ryo-O. Greymoran encounters Ahz for the first time since the fight with TerrSec. Minutes later, Greymoran learns of what happened to Sorik and Keith. He decides to rescue them. Greymoran, Ahz, Captain Tacoman, and his fiancé Butrfli take Ryo-O to WCU-9 to search for Keith and Sorik while the rest of the crew repairs the ship. Ryo-O soon arrives at Earth and detects the portal residue left by Keith and Sorik's shuttle. A Kilrathi fleet attacks, but Ryo-O quickly fights them off. Ryo-O opens a portal to the Rome universe.

With the Archangel's emergency power back up and able to move under its own power, the Spidership departs. The Archangel sets a course for the infamous space station Deep Space Nine. The LICC leaves a yellowshirt behind to keep the Archangel working. Not long into their trip, the Archangel encounters the Federation Starship Defiant, commanded by Kira Nerys. The Archangels four-person crew transfers to the Defiant and Kira sends a tug to bring the Archangel in while she takes the crew to DS9.

Elsewhere, Grey groups his large fleet for a new offensive against STU-90, having to sacrifice his hold on SWU-3 in the process. He prepares to attack DS9.

On the space station, the Archangel crew is getting some much needed R and R when the station is suddenly attacked. Grey's fleet has arrived. Hudzen and Jackson meet on the way to Ops. After arriving, Kira tells them about the attack and that the section of the station that Rita Yeager was staying in has been destroyed. She's dead. With Grey's fleet overwhelming the station's defenses, Kira orders and evacuation. Before they can leave Ops, however, the ceiling is blown away. Most of the crew, including Kira and Jackson, are blown into open space. Seconds later, Hudzen can only watch from Ops as Grey obliterates DS9.

On the Roman Earth, Sorik and Keith continue their flight to Malta, but Sorik realizes that they do not have enough fuel to reach the island. He searches for a place to set the plane down, but his efforts are all in vain. On Ryo-O, Jackson discovers the shuttle and has it beamed aboard. Minutes later, they finally find Sorik and Keith. With the two of them onboard the ship, Greymoran has Rita set a course for STU-90, arriving at DS9 hours after the arrival of the Archangel crew but before Grey's attack. Greymoran, Sorik, and Keith take the damaged shuttle to DS9 while Ahz and Ryo-O prepare to take Tacoman, Butrfli, and the yellowshirt home to the LICC universe. The Archangel crew once again reunites.

Grey, detecting Ryo-O, stops his planned attack and decides to destroy them another day.

Chapter Twelve, Part I: The Mind of Evil

New Characters: Mind Flayers, the Narn.

One week after arriving at DS9, the repairs on the Archangel are complete and the ship is 100% operational with a brand new warp core. Carrie interrupts the celebration, reporting that she's detected some interdimensional travel. Someone left STU-90 and has entered Babylon 5 Universe #37. Fearing it to be Grey, Greymoran orders the ship to prepare for departure and battle.

Later, as the crew gets ready for the upcoming battle, Hudzen, alone on the bridge, notices an incoming message for Jackson from the LICC universe. After calling Jackson to the bridge they learn that the message is a report on the deaths of Commander Adon and Captain Jackson Dupree Tacoman, Greymoran's son. Jackson, Hudzen, and Carrie decide to keep it from Greymoran until they get through the battle.

Meanwhile, the Archangel leaves DS9 and arrives in B5U-37. The crew sets course for Narn space to investigate a group of destroyed sensor array satellites. They discover that Greys forces destroyed the satellites. Ahz takes a module to investigate a nearby planet where he detected human life signs. After arriving, he decides to do a little "damage control."

Onboard the Archangel, Carrie learns that the Yamato and a large group of Star Wars troop transports are attacking the Narn homeworld. The Archangel warps to intercept. The ship soon arrives and attacks the troop transports that are heading for the planet. Unfortunately, with Grey's ship nearby, Jackson is forced to take the Archangel into evasive maneuvers to avoid the Yamato's firing and severely limiting any shots at the transports.

Soon, Ryo-O arrives with Ahz and quickly disables the Yamato with her advanced technology. The Yamato retreats, leaving Ryo-O and the Archangel to deal with the transports, many of which that have landed on the planet and deployed their troops, Mind Flayers from Dungeons and Dragons. Flayers have the ability to paralyze their victims, suck their brains, and control their minds. Greymoran, Jackson, and Hudzen prepare to take a shuttle to the surface to fight off the Flayers. Before they depart, however, Jackson tells Greymoran of his son's death. This causes Greymoran to fall into a catatonic state to cope with the horrible news. With Greymoran out, Jackson and Hudzen take a shuttle down to the planet. After landing, they beam out of the shuttle and begin to combat the Mind Flayers. Ahz soon arrives to help. Even with their superior abilities, they are soon overwhelmed and surrounded by the sheer numbers of Mind Flayers and undead Narn zombies. Just as it looks over, the Narn army arrives, destroying and driving the Mind Flayers away. With the battle under control, Hudzen and Ahz take an injured Jackson back to the shuttle and lift off for the Archangel.

Back aboard the Archangel, Carrie informs the crew that she has received a report informing them that Grey has pulled his fleet out of STU-16 and that the XDCA is once again in control of that universe. With Grey temporarily in retreat, the crew decides to attend the memorial service for Captain Tacoman and Commander Adon.

Elsewhere, in command of the Defiant-Class starship Monitor and a fleet of over 200 ships, Grey prepares to lead his forces on an all out assault on the remnants of the XDCA.

Chapter Twelve, Part II: Memorial Service

Author's Forward: This was the fourth crossover with the LICC and the third and final to take place during The Hunt for Jake Grey.

New Characters: Alexander Tacoman, Robot Redshirt, Mr. Obvious, Soyburger Patricia, Sailor Evil/Shadow Senshi, Sailor Good, Bell, Mary Worth, Lord Smoke, Alexia

The Archangel arrives in the LICC universe in orbit of the planet in which the service is being held. Jackson contacts the Spidership and for the first time meets Alex Tacoman, the late captain's dimensional counterpart. After transporting the still catatonic Greymoran to the Spidership's Sickbay, the Archangel crew beams down to the planet. Ahz travels to the Spidership and examines Adon's body. He detects the presence of another being that he is familiar with in the room. After a short conversation with Ahz, the being disappears.

On the surface, the service proceeds with Commander Milkshake giving a speech about the fallen officers. After the service has concluded, the Archangel crew leaves the area. Minutes later, the being, an entity named Bell, appears to the LICC, telling them that Adon was not supposed to die. She wants their help in bringing him back. As some of the LICC crew travel to Adon's afterlife to bring him back, the rest go on a search to another afterlife to find Captain Tacoman.

Meanwhile, Sailor Evil, mourning the passing of her crewmates alone, is making her way back to the main hall when she is attacked and quickly killed by her nemesis Sailor Good. Floating above her dead body, she is contacted by the spirit of Lord Smoke, and Knight of the Abyss. He tells her that Good has acquired a powerful artifact from the Ancients and that Evil must stop her as a new being. He uses his power to transform her into the Shadow Senshi. The Senshi attacks Sailor Good, taking the artifact and causing the evil woman to flee to the KILL universe.

Onboard the Spidership, Enesku convinces Artsy to have a little fun to help deal with the deaths of their fellow league companions. The two of them perform a ceremony to summon the powerful being Mary Worth. Unfortunately, Worth turns out to be very powerful, and evil.

In Sickbay, Greymoran finally returns to normal, weeping uncontrollably. The Spidership's holographic doctor informs the Archangel crew and Jackson is the first to arrive. He tries to comfort his distraught father and help the wizard see that his son lives on in him. Together, they return to the Archangel. The ship soon departs, setting a course for STU-16 and leaving the LICC to deal with its own wacky problems and continuing its primary mission: the war with Grey.

Chapter Thirteen: Nowhere to Run

New Characters: None

The Archangel arrives in STU-16, the crew hoping to help XDCA clean up the remaining forces that Grey abandoned in the universe. Only minutes after arriving, however, hundreds of dimensional portals open around the Archangel. Grey's fleet emerges, completely surrounding the XDCA vessel. The Archangel jumps to warp with Grey's fleet in pursuit. Greymoran has Rita perform an extremely dangerous maneuver at high warp to shake the following ships. The maneuver is successful and the Archangel greatly widens the gap. Suddenly, the Archangel is abruptly pulled out of warp by a large field of warp dissipater mines laid by Greys forces. The sudden stop injures Greymoran and Keith and they are forced to head to Sickbay for treatment. Trapped between the field and Grey's rapidly approaching fleet, Rita takes the ship into the mines. Ahz takes Ryo-O out to help watch Archangel's tail. Grey's fleet soon arrives, attacking both ships. Most of Grey's fleet goes for Ryo-O and she begins to severely weaken from the onslaught of over 200 ships. Jackson has the Archangel turn around to assist Ryo-O but the two ships are no match for the attacking fleet.

Meanwhile, Ahz uses his powers to teleport from ship to ship in Grey's fleet, searching for the madman and sabotaging his vessels in the process. He finally arrives on the Monitor, Grey's ship, but the former elite agent is ready for him, easily capturing the Wanderer, but not before Ahz manages to destroy nearly every system on the ship. Grey orders and evacuation and self-destruct of yet another flagship before taking TorGal and a bound Ahz with him into the Captain's pod.

As the Archangel and Ryo-O near destruction, another fleet of ships is pulled out of warp by the minefield. It turns out to be an XDCA fleet led by the Revanche sent to investigate the lack of subspace in the area created by the minefield. With reinforcements now arrived, Ryo-O returns to Ahz's lab and the heavily damaged Archangel retreats from the fight.

Elsewhere, Grey's pod is picked up by one of Grey's Excelsior-Class starships, the Cairo. He plans to torture Ahz for information that he greatly seeks: The pattern for Greymoran's brain waves.

Chapter Fourteen: Showdown

New Characters: Predators

The battle between Grey's forces and the XDCA fleet soon ends, both sides retreating after suffering heavy losses. Some of the Revanche crew beam onto the Archangel to assist with repairs and the ship heads for a nearby repair facility. Durgin tells them about the recent activities of the St. Helens, recently discovered to be still active and playing a huge part in regaining XDCA control of XFU-3.

Meanwhile, Grey tortures Ahz, injecting him with thousands of nanobots and exposing him to a gas that works as a truth serum. As Grey's devices do their terrible deeds, the Cairo arrives at its destination, the XDCA's former home planet Avalon and rendezvous with the battle station Macedonia 2.

After completing repairs, the Archangel returns to the minefield with a small fleet. They soon destroy every mine in the field. After wiping out the mines, Grey's invasive program begins to talk to Hudzen again, telling the robot that he is losing his internal battle.

After Greymoran learns from Ryo-O about Ahz's situation, the sentient ship uses her sophisticated abilities to locate Ahz and transport the Archangel to him, right into the heart of Grey's stronghold.

Realizing what is happening, Grey forcefully extracts the information that he wants from Ahz before Ryo-O teleports the Wanderer away along with Grey's arm. The Archangel reappears in STU-16. Greymoran, after seeing Grey's new battlestation, tells Redding to pull together every available ship that the XDCA has and to send them to Avalon to attack Grey's forces. Preparing for the upcoming battle, Greymoran has Rita transport off of the ship to a safer location to protect her and her unborn child.

As Ryo-O begins to nurse Ahz back to health, Hudzen has another experience with the Greyvirus. When he talks to the virus out loud, the crew decides to temporarily shut him down to prevent him from hurting them or himself. Before they can get the chance, a dimensional portal appears and the Macedonia 2 emerges. It locks a tractor beam onto the Archangel and pulls it back through the portal to Avalon, into the very heart of Grey's forces. Another beam shoots out from the Macedonia 2, penetrating the Archangel's hull and striking Greymoran, incapacitating the wizard and transporting his mind to the astral plane and to a waiting Jakob Grey.

The Archangel is pulled into the massive docking area of the large battlestation and quickly surrounded by a group of Grey's ships (much like "Independence Day"). Grey and Greymoran begin to battle on the astral plane and Sorik enters Greymoran's mind in order to find out about the captain's situation. Grey's attacks soon force the Vulcan to leave the astral plane and break the mind meld.

Minutes later, several Klingon troop transports attach to the Archangel, depositing troops into the vessel. Jackson and Hudzen travel below decks to repel the invaders. They quickly learn that they are up against a group of Predators, some of the most skilled hunters in the Multiverse. Jackson tries to think up a plan to stop them.

Guarding the upper decks, Keith tries to help Hudzen and Jackson out by sending a burst of radiation through the ship that will make any Predator using stealth visible. He discovers that he has three standing very near him, closing for the kill. Keith runs and through a little bit of skill and a tremendous amount of sheer luck, manages to kill the Predator leader. With their leader gone, the Predators no longer have the obligation to kill Keith. They go troll hunting.

Below decks, Hudzen and Jackson are able to take out several Predators. However, they soon fall into a trap and find themselves at the wrong end of several Predator weapons. Just as it looks over for both of them, another Predator approaches the group. After a few words with his colleagues, the Predators disappear and leave the ship. Several turn on their "master" TorGal and the troll soon finds himself floating free in Macedonia 2's docking area.

On the astral plane, an outmatched Greymoran searches for a way out while Grey prepares to end the threat of his greatest enemy.
