Authors Forward: Marking the midpoint of the first chapter in the Archangel Trilogy was the second crossover story between the Archangel and the League of Intergalactic Cosmic Champions (the first being the chapters of LICC that preceded The Hunt for Jake Grey). This five part story deals with an area that is a slight departure from the storys main plot: the war for the Multiverse. This story deals with the Archangels first encounter with extradimensional pirates in the story and the resulting effects of the encounter. So read on to the eighth part of the Hunt:

Part Eight: Code of Hero

I

New Characters: Derisa Alex, Boss, Blue Fugates

An hour after escaping Star Trek Universe #56, the Dark Universe, the Archangel is fully repaired and operational. However, the good mood is short-lived as two cloaked Klingon Birds-of-Prey controlled by Extra-dimensional pirates (XDPs) ambush the Archangel. They disable it and download its computer core, including Carrie, before warping away. Being independent of the Archangel, Ahzs lab is the only unaffected part of the ship. He has the Archangel docked inside of Ryo-O before pursuing the pirate ships. Ryo-O quickly catches and disables one of the Birds-of-Prey. Jackson, Rita, and Keith board the ship to investigate while Ahz takes a small module to track down the other XDP ship. Aboard the disabled vessel, they find an abandoned ship except for one being, a captive Vulcan who is later identified as Captain Sorik of the U.S.S. Intrepid. Jackson has Sorik beamed to Ryo-O for medical treatment while Rita learns the name of the pirate cartel that owned the ship: the Blue Fugates, the most dangerous XDP organization that the XDCA ever encountered. Alarmed, Greymoran orders the away team back and the ship destroyed before sending a message to Rocket Ranger of the LICC universe.

Meanwhile, Ahz reaches the other Bird-of-Prey. He finds it to be abandoned as well. The ship contains the Archangels computer core, but no Carrie. Ahz downloads it and returns to Ryo-O.

The Archangels computer is restored and the ship is operational again. Greymoran calls a staff meeting to discuss the Blue Fugate threat. He tells the crew of the Directive Omega order on the organization: the order to destroy any and all members and property of the Blue Fugates upon contact without question or prejudice. Despite the crews uneasiness, Greymoran insists that orders are orders and the mission continues.

In the meantime, Jake Grey is monitoring the Archangel and Ryo-O. After learning of the Blue Fugates presence, he decides to stay true to his blood oath to destroy them and takes the I, Claudius uncharted Star Wars universe in which the crew of the Archangel currently resides. Ryo-O detects the I, Claudius and both she and the Archangel set courses to intercept. Before they leave, Greymoran sends Jackson and Keith out in a shuttlecraft to investigate a nearby abandoned vessel that Ryo-O detected. Grey detects the shuttle and moves to intercept. Ryo-O stops Grey and he is forced to retreat. Jackson and Keith download the vessels passenger manifest and return to the Archangel while Ahz tries to personally stop Grey by teleporting onto his retreating ship. Unfortunately, TorGal is able to knock the Wanderer out and shoves him into one of Greys escape pods before launching and vaporizing it. Luckily, Ryo-O beams Ahz out before the pod is destroyed.

Frustrated at Ahzs reckless actions, Greymoran hopes to instill more discipline onto the ship by creating a more military setting and giving the crew uniforms and ranks while. He makes Jackson the commander and First Officer, Sorik a lieutenant commander and Chief Engineer, and the Yeagers both lieutenants. Hudzen remains a non-commissioned crewman while he decides to begin to train Ahz as an apprentice agent. This course gets abandoned as the War continues.

Meanwhile, Carrie is able to trick a Blue Fugate pirate into giving her access to the computer at the base where he is being held captive. She sends a message to the Archangel before creating a little computerized chaos. The Archangel and Ryo-O set course to attack the base. After arrival, they are joined by a Republic fleet sent by Chancellor Palpatine. The Revanche arrives as well after it followed a Blue Fugate fleet into the Star Wars universe. The XDCA/Republic fleet fights it way through the Blue Fugate ships and to the base.

Realizing that her comrades have arrived to rescue her, Carrie uploads herself into a probe and launches it away from the base. In the base, Boss, the leader of the Blue Fugates also realizes that the battle is lost and that the base will fall. He prepares to leave, taking as many of his fellow Fugates as he can. Before leaving, he opens a mysterious bag that he recently acquired, his secret weapon he only wished to use as a last resort. The remaining Blue Fugate ships retreat from the onslaught of the joint fleet before the Blue Fugate base explodes in a brilliant explosion. Out of the explosion a figure appears. Taconator has been let out of the bag...

New Characters: Taconator (End of I), Jason Kiehart, Enesku, Butrfli, Ojanon, Donna, 12 of 10, Crimson Crossbow, Rocket Ranger, Wayne, Kent, Agent Shingle, Space Marshals

Taconator opens a portal and enters it, taking all of the remaining Blue Fugate ships with him. The Archangel and the Revanche pursue.

In the LICC universe, Taconator and the Blue Fugate fleet attack a Space Marshal base, at the time containing the LICCs Jason Kiehart. Kiehart tries to help defend the base with his fighter, Banshee, but the Space Marshal base is no match for Taconators forces. After stealing the bases fuel tanks, the base is obliterated, stranding Kiehart amid ruins and debris.

Meanwhile, the Spidership III, under command of Lt. Commander Rikard, warps toward the battle, hoping to arrive in time to repel Taconator.

The Archangel and the Revanche arrive in orbit of Earth and beam up Captain Tacoman and most of the LICCs senior staff before setting course for the Space Marshal base. After introductions between the LICC and XDCA crews, Milkshake has a private discussion with Tacoman concerning a possible TerrSec cover-up that Milkshake has discovered. Tacoman agrees to investigate after the current crisis.

The Spidership finally reaches the coordinates of the former TerrSec base and brings Kiehart and Banshee back onto the ship. As they wait for the Archangel and Revanche to arrive, Ojanon appears with a potential Lifeblood Sorceror, Sergeant Milos Fortesky and Donna rises from the dead. The XDCA ships arrive and the LICC crew begins to transport back to the Spidership. At that moment, the X-Cwx drone in Rocket Rangers lab escapes and several unidentified ships ambush the Spidership, Archangel, and Revanche, firing ion blasts. Caught off guard, the Spidership and Revanche warp to safety just in time. The Archangel is not so lucky; it is disabled and captured by the attacking ships, soon discovered to belong to TerrSec. Most of the crew is captured except for Keith and Rita, who were not on the bridge during the attack, and Ahz, who was not onboard the ship.

Onboard the Spidership, the Crimson Crossbow is able to incapacitate the X-cwx drone and beams it to Sickbay. There, the EMH is determines that the drone is rejecting its implants. As this happens, the LICC and Revanche crews try to find out why TerrSec attacked them and how to rescue the Archangel and her crew. Kiehart, with the help of Banshee, is able narrow down possible TerrSec bases from which the attacking ships had originated. After reporting his findings, Kiehart beams over to the Revanche. There Captain Redding, the chicken engineer Mac, and the tactical officer Derisa Alex meet him. The ship soon departs to investigate one of the bases. Tacoman decides to contact Earth System Intelligence for help. One of the redshirts on the bridge turns out to be an Intelligence agent, Shingle. Moments later, Tacoman receives a message from Rocket Ranger. Tacoman calls a staff meeting to discuss the recent information on TerrSec and from Rocket Ranger.

In Paris, Ahz and Adon have lunch in a cafe. Unfortunately, TerrSec sets a trap for the two Wanderers, knocking both unconscious and taking them away.

In the staff meeting, the LICC crew learns that EarthSysIntel and the Galactic Order are executing a joint operation to expose TerrSecs actions. They hope that the LICC will stop TerrSec in whatever they are doing. They propose several modifications to the Spidership before beginning the mission, including a cloaking device. Tacoman decides to proceed with the modifications.

Elsewhere, TerrSec is holding Adon and Ahz in an unknown location. While some agents have doubts, most believe that the Wanderers are under control. Suddenly, Ahz disappears. TerrSec scrambles to find him.

Meanwhile, a TerrSec ship using a weak tractor beam is towing the disabled Archangel. Rita comes up with a plan to break free using the shuttlebay and then retake the ship. The Yeagers make their way to the shuttlebay and enter a shuttle before depressurizing the bay. The ships sudden shift is enough to allow it to break free of the beams hold. Rita and Keith try to quickly make their way to Ahzs lab hoping to reach Ryo-O. There they encounter several TerrSec agents trying to break into Ahz's lab. The TerrSec agents spot Keith and Rita and open fire, stunning Keith. Rita escapes to the shuttle bay, reaches the shuttle, and launches away...

III

New Characters: Artsy-Fartsy, Quito, Tammy Tembar

The Revanche reaches the TerrSec base in its search for the Archangel. The base orders the Revanche to leave the area and two massive TerrSec warships decloak to escort it away. Redding refuses to withdraw and attacks. The Revanche is able to cripple one of the TerrSec ships but receives massive damage from the other and is forced to withdraw. A large part of the crew is injured in the fight. Mac, Alex, Kiehart, and Commander Durgin quickly try to repair the very damaged ship.

Rita's shuttle finally reaches the Spidership and she is beamed to Sickbay after informing the LICC of the Archangel's situation. In Sickbay, the EMH and Butrfli are working on the X-Cwx drone, 12 of 10, when Rita is beamed in.

In a TerrSec base, Ahz has teleported to the inside of the computer core #1. He begins to sabotage the entire system from the inside. TerrSec is unable to stop him. After Ahz shuts down the base's power, the agents activate Aramath.

On the Spidership, the modifications are complete with new devices such as the Pharphiggaughen's Disassociator, Himmelman Helix Missile Launcher, and a cloaking device. The Spidership cloaks and warps to Earth.

Aramath tries to blow Ahz out of the computer core, but Ahz escapes and attempts to free Adon. However, Aramath arrives before Ahz can do so and nearly kills the computer-wise Wanderer. Fortunately, Adon is able to break the rest of his bonds and he attacks Aramath. They battle through the ground to the planet's surface. Just as it appears Adon will destroy Aramath, the TerrSec weapon creates a new cannon and blasts Adon away, severely injuring him. Neither moves for quite some time.

On the Spidership, Insane works on his personal craft and searches for Enesku, who recently left the Spidership. Ojanon and the Observer disappear to the Observer's personal universe where Ojanon expresses his hatred for the Observer. He blames the Observer for his sister's insanity.

The Spidership enters Earth-controlled space. Rita revives in Sickbay, healed and feeling much better than before. She is greeted by Butrfli, Tacoman, and Rikard before going to the bridge. Once Earth is reached, she pilots the cloaked ship into the ocean to the underwater TerrSec base that Milkshake had discovered. After his patients leave, the EMH tries to wake Artsy-Fartsy. The artist, ringless and without control of her powers, proceeds to color Sickbay in complex yet chaotic designs. Ansh and Quito arrive to calm the frantic Artsy.

On the earth's surface, Aramath is about to end Adon's existence but Ahz is able to kill Aramath first. He has them both beamed to the Spidership's Sickbay after realizing that the ship is near. The doctor begins to treat Adon while Ahz teleports to the bridge to meet Tacoman. As the crew attempts to think of a way to attack the base, Klassikos launches his ram-ship, the Hector, to prepare for battle.

IV

New Characters: Vice President Absurd, R, Cid

In New Atlantis, Vice President Absurd learns from his assistant R that the Spidership has recently entered the Atlantic Ocean. Hoping to relay a message to his old crewmates and friends, Absurd sends a dolphin to meet the ship.

Aboard the Spidership, Ahz gives TerrSec's security files to Tacoman. Planning to raid the base, Tacoman begins to form assault teams led by himself, Commander Milkshake, and Commander Adon. The dolphin arrives but is unable to deliver its message due to the dolphin equivalent of the common cold. It is beamed to Sickbay. There, Quito is finally able to get the ring back onto the finger of a still frantic Artsy. With the ring back, Artsy regains control of her powers. She explains the incident of what just happened and tells them of her origins. When she realizes that the ship is at Red Alert, she makes way for the bridge. As the teams prepare to beam over to the base, Klassikos leaves early. The base sees him coming and the Hector is soon shot down. Near his crash location, Klassikos discovers an ancient artifact. It is powerful, magical armor that can repair his damaged ship. He takes is back to the Spidership for further analysis. Before the teams leave to attack, the dolphin relays its message. It warns that TerrSec may already know that they are coming. With this warning, the teams leave for the base. At the base, Tacoman's team (Tacoman, Butrfli, Rita, Rikard, and others) quickly use the computer to find the location where the Archangel crew is being held, while Milkshake's team (Milkshake, Insane, Crimson Crossbow, Ojanon, Juiceman) attempts to find out exactly what TerrSec's mysterious activities are, and Adon's team (Adon, Observer, Artsy, others) looks for the base's control center...

V

New Characters: Cutthroat Jimlad (Insane's polymorphed alter ego), Juiceman (not actually seen until this part), Admiral Stravkarn, Shirkaron

Out in space, a badly damage Revanche is intercepted by several Earth System Intelligence starships. After learning of TerrSec's crimes from Kiehart, they decide to lend assistance to the XDCA starship. Soon, the Revanche is repaired. It sets course to return to the TerrSec base that it had earlier attacked to pay back the damage received.

Meanwhile, Tacoman's team fights its way to the room of the captive Archangel crew. They enter the room and begin to free them from their stasis tubes. In the process, Butrfli and Tacoman are hit by darts shot by a nearby droid. They are infected with a virus that causes them to speak Ebonics. Donna, alone in the base, encounters the powerful Shirkaron, an evil noble from Skuld. They fight but Shirkaron easily defeats Donna, nearly killing her before taking a magic lamp and leaving.

Milkshake's team encounters several battle droids on its way to the room that contains TerrSec's secret operations. Insane is polymorphed into Cutthroat Jimlad before the droids are destroyed. Soon after that, Milkshake's team reaches the room for which they were searching and they learn that TerrSec is artificially creating hazardous natural phenomena, running the risk of destroying the planet every time they do.

Adon's team, on its way to the base's control center, gets caught in a trap as they are sealed in a small area of the corridor which is quickly filled with the hard, trapping material Bacolyte.

The Revanche reaches the TerrSec base holding the Archangel. It quickly and swiftly the base in the hit and run attack. When it comes back to recover the Archangel, the stolen XDCA ship powers up and flies away, piloted by TerrSec to another universe. Carrie is left in the base's computer core. The Revanche recovers her and sets course for Earth to pick up the Archangel crew.

At the base, Milkshake decides to dispose of TerrSec's dangerous technology. Before he can act, he is met by TerrSec's commanding officer, Admiral Stravkarn. Stravkarn uses a TerrSec device to knock Milkshake's group unconscious and moves them into captivity.

Adon is able to break his team out of the Bacolyte and they proceed to the base's control center.

The Revanche arrives at Earth and transports the Archangel crew along with Tacoman and Butrfli aboard, leaving Rikard behind. Redding decides to pursue the TerrSec-commanded Archangel rather than continue search for Taconator and the Blue Fugates. After beaming Tacoman, Butrfli, and Kiehart back to the TerrSec base, the Revanche follows the Archangel to another universe.
