This is my first foster..ZOEY..such a sweetheart!
Zoey, Zoey, Zoey..she probably will be the most endearing greyhound I will ever have. Zoey is a dark brindle.. quite a timid young lady, she absolutely adored my daughter and I. She would let others pet her but the commotion of to many people around was a bit much for her. She would patiently wait in her crate until everyone left the house in the morning and then wild woman came out!! She would throw her toys around, play fetch, want her treats, want her loving...no one believed me..so I had to take pictures to show them! She is one of those girls that when you win her heart you will have a best friend for ever! I got Question (we named her Zoey) on 02/26/03 it took longer than usual to find Zoey her special home, the wait was worth it for she has the most loving family any greyhound could ask for! Her shyness didn't turn them away as I feared it would. Jessica and Tom fell in love with her just by her pictures we had posted on the web. When they met her it was love at first sight. I couldn't be happier for everyone! Read what Zoeys new family has to say about her and tell me fostering or adopting a greyhound isn't worth it!!

Adopted May 6th, 2003 to Jessica and Tom of Delaware (pictured above).
Adoption and Foster was through Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue

Zoey is doing wonderful. She got to go to the beach last night. She seemed to really enjoy herself. The introduction to the four cats was a breeze. Zoey could care less about them. They basically just kind of stay away from her. She has been so Sweet! I took her on a walk around the neighborhood this morning. I brought a little shoulder bag with some water, pooper baggies, treats, and toys in it for her. She truly is an angel!! I love her already!! I'll keep in touch with you , I promise. Jessica

The pic on your webpage turned out reallly well. I love it! Zoey went to the beach again this afternnoon and several more walks. I can't believe she is so well behaved!! This afternoon, she came up nudged me with her nose, then hurried back to her crate and looked at me! I almost cried. I can tell she has so much love to give once she gains my trust. I'll give her a big hug and kiss from you!! Jessica

We had an awesome weekend with Zoey. She went to the beach every day. She went to the tennis courts, and even got to go to the pet store down the road and pick out a toy and a treat. She chose a purple fleece crab (it squeaks, rattles and crinkles!) and a whole wheat barnyard biscuit shaped like a big pig! She had fun! I haven't been able to get her on the couch yet, I tried the leash and "kennel-up" but she would'nt jump up. I didn't force her, she will do it when shes ready. I have no problem playing with her now. She is so much fun! Zoey follows me all over the house and sticks me with her little nose if I don't notice her right away. So Cute!!(and she knows it too!!)
So when do you get your next foster greyhound? Good Luck! Hope you liked the pictures of Zoey!! Hugs and Kisses from Zoey!!!!!--------Jessica

Zoey is doing wonderful.  I love her more every day.  She has been as well behaved now as the day I got her.  She plays with her toys with us all the time now, and loves going for rides (cause she knows it is probably to the pet store down the road and she will get a new treat and toy!!) Smart dog, huh? She never leaves my side.  She follows me from room to room.  She sleeps outside her crate beside me on her doggie bed.  She hasn't stole socks, clothes, hats, or destroyed anything (yet).  I have not even had to use the words "no" or "leave it" to her.  She is so well behaved!!  We never dreamed it would be such an easy transition.   She is really beginning to warm up to Tom now.  He loves her to death too!!  It took her a while longer to warm up to him, but he was patient and now he has a forever buddy too.  She has a vet appointment on 6/12/03 to get a check up and prescriptions for heartworm and flea & tick meds.  She and my 4 year old male cat have become friends.  The cat rubs up against her legs and she leans down and gives little kisses to him.  I just think it is so cute to watch them.  They actually like each other.
I have to tell you this:  the other day I was walking her, and another couple was walking their large dog down the road (on the opposite side).  Their  dog began barking and growling at Zoey.  Zoey kept her little eyes on me and kept walkig not even making a peep.  They stopped and said "We cannot believe how well behaved your dog is, and beautiful we must add!"  It made my day!!  She steals the show where ever we go.  Such a charmer!!
Call me.  Can't wait until you get your pictures.  I sent 10 pictures I think.  Enjoy!!  Keep in touch.  Hugs and Kisses from Zoey!!   Jessica

A Note from Zoeys family about adopting a shy or timid greyhound:
The only advice I would have for a shy dog is to give a ton of love and affection, patience, and to take it slow and make progress one day at a time.  Before you know it your dog will be in total love with you.  You can't expect a dog who has been through so much to just come in and love and trust you in one day.  Everything takes time--but be assured , it is worth every minute put into it and more!!  The bond never breaks!! And I know I keep saying it but "It was so much easier than I ever expected it to be" (thanks to you and your family!!)
HUGS AND KISSES!! from Zoey                    -------------Jess

In 14 days look at the transformation already in Zoey and her new family! They can't imagine life with out her! A couple of weeks ago Jessica sent some beautiful pictures of Zoey..spoiled rotten!! Hanging out on the beach, lazing around on her bed, with a mom and dad who love her..what could be better than that! Right now as I was doing Zoey's page I had to call Jessica to see how Zoey is doing!
(
Update 06-02-03)I just talked to Jessica and she said Zoey is doing great and is becoming less shy~ She will lay out in the middle of the living room floor where before she liked the comfort of her crate~Zoey and one of her cats are fast friends~ Zoey will even take walks alone with Grandma as long as she doesn't see her Mom! ~ Zoey loves her Dad but if Mom is around she is a mommies girl!
As soon as I get a chance I will scan some of Zoey's pictures and post them here!
