Barge of the Dead
B’E followed multispacial probe into ion storm, only one, didn’t want to lose it. Janeway ordered her not to. We only have one B’Elanna Torres
Lanna – her mother used to call her that
Chakotay comes with piece of metal – lodged in port nacelle of Delta Flyer, has Klingon symbol on it, old, important archaeological find placing Klingons in Delta Quad. It bleeds red blood and howls and cries in Klingon
Ah, just the daughter of the Empire I’ve been looking for.
Some of the greatest discoveries in Klingon history were accidents.
When Sarpek the Fearless unearthed the knife of Kirom he was searching for his lost targ. An incident celebrated in song.
Neelix has replicated 5 barrels of blood wine
Tuvok counsels B’E with meditation.
The artifact was a catalyst for B’E’s already active imagination. The self loathing she feels when she looks in mirror, she despises being Klingon, its no secret.
B’E thinks the bat’leth is a clumsy weapon, overstated like everything else Klingon. Tuvok points out its elegance, it is a warrior’s blade, crafted with precision, balance. Tuvok handles it with ease.
Tuvok cuts he with the bat’leth.
You’re not worth of the blood in your veins, a true Klingon would try to kill me where I stand.
Table with Klingon dishes, crock pot with ladle, Klingon banner behind with one large sigil, red shield, writing down either side.
Klingon songs salute noble deeds of ancestors, honor those who fell in battle.
The river Skral ran crimson red
Eat this or I’ll force it down the gullet of your corpse
Has everyone gone Klingon happy?
B'E inherited the forehead and the bad attitude
Miral obsessed with Klingon ritual, myths. It used to drive Father and B’E crazy. Mother put B’E in Klingon monastery after marriage broke up, pulled B’E out of Fed school in order to teach B’E honor and discipline.
Miral prayed to Kahless every day to guide B’E in the ways of the warrior.
I guess he wasn’t listening.
Time slows down, Janeway’s words blur. Room darkens, mist rises. Only B’E sees warrior wielding bat’leth.
Table changes to being covered with small squat white candles, large burning cauldron behind.
HIj’Qa raises d’k tagh behind Janeway
Several other Klingons take out rest of crew with bat’leths and knives.
HIj’Qa comes up to B’E shouting gre’thor and slices her head to foot with bat’leth
She wakes up on barge.
Where am I?
HIj’Qa -Silence, the dead ask no questions
Two other warriors raise B’E from deck, HIj’Qa calls over guy with red hot brand. HIj’Qa takes brand, holds B’E’s right cheek while he presses branding iron to left cheek. They both scream.
HIj'Qa – She won’t take the mark.
The other warriors throw B’E to the floor at HIj’Qa’s words. Everybody walks away.
Brok'Tan sitting cross legged on floor.
This is the barge of the dead, our dishonored souls are being taken to gre’thor.
Klingon hell is a myth.
Brok'Tan -That’s what I thought. Just a foolish superstition. Imagine my surprise.
B’E being on Voyager was the naj – the dream before dying. When we can’t accept that we’ve died, we create the illusion of life to hold on to.
HIj’Qa slaughtered the dream image of B’E’s friends. He dragged her from the illusion of life. This is where she belongs.
Voices calling attract people to the side of the ship. It is the kos'kari trying to lure people over side to them. Sounds like familiar voices – Chakotay, Tom. Don’t listen. One guy stands up on rail and jumps overboard. Dark serpent shapes in water devour him. There are things here worse than death.
HIj’Qa brings B’E to Kortar at the wheel.
Is this the mongrel child you spoke of?
Yes, the one whose face will not bear the mark.
B’Elanna, daughter of Miral, it is not your time
You’ve come close to boarding this ship many times. I remember the first.
Miral took B’E to the Sea of Gata ?Gatan. B’E’s curiosity was as deep as the water. B’E fell in, almost drown. Miral breathed life back into her, and told her about Kortar.
Kortar, the first Klingon, he destroyed the gods who created him. And as punishment he was condemned to ferry the souls of the dishonored to gre’thor.
B’E may have believed in Kortar as a child, but not anymore.
If she didn’t still believe, she wouldn’t be here.
B’E grabs a bat’leth hanging on the ship’s side.
Kortar laughs – Foolish girl, you cannot harm me. I’m already dead.
The barge has Klingon sigils all over it. The wheel is at extreme stern.
Roaring noise of another dishonored soul coming aboard.
Form materializes on deck, lying on back. Two warriors raise her up, Miral.
B’E’s naj began with shuttle accident.
B’E thinks she died and was on the barge of the dead in the Klingon afterlife before the doctor revived her.
Chakotay counsels her that those images where engrained on her since she was a child, not surprising to experience some while unconscious. Just symbols.
What if not symbols, what if afterlife is real?
B’E’s mother has been on her mind a lot lately. 10 years since they talked.
I could taste the blood in the air
B’E reads the paq'batlh, a sacred Klingon scroll. B’E’s mother is on the way to gre’thor because B’E sent her there. The sins of the child. She’s being punished for my dishonor. I turned my back on everything Klingon and now she was to pay the price. When Torres turned her back on being a Klingon, her mother suffered the dishonor.
The eleventh tome of Klavek – it is a story about Kahless returning from the dead still bearing a wound from the afterlife, a warning that what he experienced wasn’t a dream. The only reason Kahless was in the afterlife to begin with was to rescue his brother from the barge of the dead and deliver him to Sto-Vo-Kor.
B’E has a chance to rescue her mother, if B’E can accept responsibility for Miral’s dishonor before she passes through the gates of gre’thor. B’E has to go back, can’t let Miral suffer for what B’E has done.
Tattered parchment scroll with horizontal lines of writing read left to right. Larger sigils begin stories.
B’E – what I do with my own life is one thing, but to know that I have condemned my mother, that because of what I have done she’s
It was real to me. It changed me. I can’t ignore that. I need to confront what has happened.
Miral was dedicated to Klingon honor
Miral never had the chance to be proud of B’E. I would like her to know me the way you do, I don’t want her to die thinking of me as a disgrace.
One minute you’re in a coma, the next you’re a born again Klingon.
B’E lights candle alter in sickbay, two metal poles, sculpted wire, ?row of little bells and one large bell shape, with four large fat squat white candles.
Heavy leather belt
Tom offers to read the scrolls, learn Klingon, so they can figure this out together.
B’E arrives on barge in Klingon armor
Various figures doze around barge.
Two door grillwork hatch to down below. Large brazier smoking on poop deck. Flames in iron grill baskets along sides.
Miral - Stay away, you are an illusion! You’re kos'kari trying to lure me away. If it is B’E, then she died as well.
B’E – I’ve come to lift your dishonor.
Miral – but you don’t believe in Sto-Vo-Kor.
B’E – a lot’s happened since last time I saw you. I’ve changed.
Miral – Not enough. it was you who brought this damnation upon me.
B’E – if you hadn’t tried to force me to become a warrior
Miral – I tried to guide you in the ways of a Klingon.
B’E – you tried a little too hard.
Miral – if you had listened to me when you were younger we wouldn’t be on the barge of the dead. You were always running away.
B’E – you drove me away. The same way you drove away my father.
Miral grounds out – he abandoned us
B’E – you pushed him to the point where he couldn’t bear to be around anything Klingon, including me
Miral – I wanted to give you honor. And if you had understood that, I would not be on my way to gre'thor
This is the same argument they were having 10 years ago
B’E – if I have dishonored you, I am truly sorry
Miral – Are you? You have too much anger in your heart to be sorry.
B’E is there to perform the transference. Perform the ritual.
Miral – if that how you intend to lift my dishonor, by taking my place?
B’E has no intention of being on this barge when it gets to gre’thor.
Miral – Oh, I should have known, you’d chose the easy way. You still understand nothing about being a Klingon. I would rather face damnation with what little honor you have left me than cheat my way into Sto-Vo-Kor.
HIj’Qa and another warrior, hand on dagger, come down to hold, HIj’Qa points to B’E. There she is. Bring them.
Kortar – the mongrel child has returned.
HIj’Qa brings B’E to Kortar at wheel, under sail, tarp, holding her by upper arm. Miral escorted by other warrior.
B’E – I’m here to take my mother’s place.
Miral protests
Kortar – you wish to claim her dishonor as your own? You’re willing to die for her?
B’E – Yes, release her to Sto-Vo-Kor.
Miral protests
Kortar – Keep her quiet!
HIj’Qa holds Miral, hand over mouth. Silence!
Kortar – It is not your decision, she has the right to reclaim your honor. Once we’ve reached gre’thor and you are within its gates I will release her.
B’E – no! Now!
Kortar chuckles and steps down from wheel – You’re very impatient, time must be slipping away in the living world. You’re concerned that your friends will revive you before you complete your deception. Did you really think I could be fooled so easily?
B’E – I will die for her, no tricks. No games. I will take her place honorably, like a Klingon.
Kortar – If you choose this path, your friends will not be able to save you.
Miral pulls HIj’Qa’s hand away – No, I forbid it.
Kortar takes no notice of her.
B’E – I understand
Kortar looks over to Miral, the mark on her cheek vanishes with a hiss. It reappears on B’E with a hiss.
Kortar – your dishonor has been lifted. Sto-Vo-Kor awaits you.
Miral – I will not abandon my daughter.
Kortar – She has made the choice. Go! He waves his arm. Miral vanishes in a vapor like whirl. The barge approaches the gates of gre’thor. Tall stone gates, upside down Klingon symbol. Pathway of burning coals. Burning braziers on either side. High stone wall stretches out on either side, points along top ridge.
Kortar – Daughter of Miral, embrace your fate.
Barge gangplank extends from near Kortar’s steering wheel in stern.
HIj’Qa stands behind B’E at gangplank with bat’leth
B’E wakes up in darkened sickbay, candles all around, glowing coals in brazier at feet.
The mark means B’E’s in gre’thor. In for eternity
Fek’lhr should be around. Cavern of despair
Misdeeds have led her to gre’thor. She comes with no valor, no glory. Nothing to celebrate in song and story. No one to blame but herself.
I released you to Sto-Vo-Kor.
You can’t free me until you free yourself.
The ritual said she was supposed to come back. She did everything the ritual said to do. B’E died for Miral.
B’E aware of tooth fairy
Choose to live, B’Elanna
B’E – I’m so tired of fighting, of trying to be good Maquis, good Starfleet officer
Miral – we will see each other again, in Sto-Vo-kor or maybe when B’E gets home

B deals with Doctor trying to daydream algorithms malfunction
B – They say a Doctor who operates on himself has a p’tak for a patient.
B – The new algorithms have completely taken over his program. I routed his subroutines to holodeck one, so Harry and Seven could monitor his fantasies. It’ll help us fix him.
B not pleased to be in Doctor’s romantic fantasy – I’ve seen enough of this, when fantasy B can’t live without the Doctor, not interested in Tom.
It take B half the night to stabilize the Doctor’s matrix, but he stops fantasizing.

Just a few phrases. The Klingons are a noble race
They have their moments
Today is a good day to die – that was Kahless’s battle cry. The greatest Klingon warrior. Many parallels between Vaadwaur and Klingon cultures. Vaadwaur have also learned to embrace death without fear. As children the Vaadwaur are taught to fall asleep each night imagining a different way to die.

Alice
Tom trades his jukebox for the used ship. Names ship Alice Battisti, the lost cause Tom knew at the Academy, smart, sexy, she wouldn’t give Tom the time of day.
When Tom first hears Alice calling him he thinks it’s B.
Tom and Harry supposed to do Chapter 37 Captain Proton, The Web of Pain. Tom forgot. Missed yesterday, too.
Tom wants bottle of champagne for christening Alice, private ceremony, just him and B.
B, still with the perm – So, I finally get to meet the other woman.
Tom – Don’t be too critical, she’s a long way from finished.
B – When have you ever known me to be critical?
Tom – Is that a trick question?
B – It’s beautiful, I can’t believe it’s the same ship.
Tom hands her the champagne bottle – Care to do the honors?
B - It’s almost a shame to break this over the hull.
Tom – You have a point.
They drink champagne in the cockpit.
B – When’s the first flight?
Tom – Want to come with me? it’ll be a tight squeeze.
B, moving closer – We’ll manage.
Ship interrupts them. It’s too hot for B.
B – That’s some voice.
Tom – Jealous?
B – Maybe I should be. I hear you’ve been sleeping here.
Tom becomes engrossed in the ship, his ship.
B – Then maybe I’ll leave the two of you alone.
Tom – OK, see ya later.
Tom tells Alice B is one of the things holding him back.
B and Harry work to integrate regulators from salvage yard.
B had a bad night with Tom Paris.
B – You’re his best friend, right? So maybe you can tell me why every time he finds a new hobby I go right out the airlock.
Harry – I wouldn’t take it personally, and tells her the Ferengi Five Stages of Acquisition. Infatuation, Justification, Appropriation. Obsession. Resale.
Tom almost though with Alice, until the next infatuation.
A point zero zero three drop in the warp field output is within parameters, but not on B’s watch.
B knows immediately the cause is TOM PARIS.
B - Well, Alice, it looks like you’ve been borrowing my things without permission.
Alice traps B inside and cuts off life support. B calls bridge, then Chakotay.
B – Your ship tried to kill me. What’s gotten into you Tom, you’ve been stealing components. I found the power cells.
Tom – A few parts, you’re overreacting.
B goes to talk to the Captain, there is something wrong with Tom.
Alice should of thought how much she needed Tom before she tried to kill B.
Janeway consoles B – This isn’t the first time you’ve had an argument about how he spends his free time.
B – This wasn’t a lover’s quarrel. He practically assaulted me. it wasn’t Tom, it was Alice. Harry and Chakotay have noticed the effect on Tom, too.
Janeway sends B on away mission, inside Tom’s head. B appears in Tom’s head,
B – You’re letting a program delude you. I need you. Alice is an illusion.
Tom will need a few days to recover from Alice. Stay off his feet.
B – If he doesn’t, I’ll break his legs.
Doctor – I’ll leave you to B’s tender mercies.
B – I’ve got something for you. Hands him a card. A get well card from Naomi Wildman, a drawing of Tom and B in uniform.
B – Pretty good likeness of you. I don’t think she quite captured my eyes.
Tom – I’m sorry, for everything. I remember all of it.
B – The important thing is you woke up.
Tom – Thanks for being my alarm clock.
B – Any time.
Tom – I promise no more affairs with strange ships.
B – What about the Delta Flyer?
Tom – We’re just friends.

P3 Klingons term the initial invasion of Cardassian space as 'the Battle for the Chin'toka System'
P78 Cardassian opinion is the Klingons depend on their strong physicality to protect them in battle, while similarly strong Cardassians develop their minds as well
P79 Klingons play dabo at Quarks, attracted to tall, beautiful, intelligent  Bajoran dabo girl Tir Remara
P80 Garek corrects Rom's collar, so that it isn't just lying there like a dead targ
P81 giant drunken Klingon, one of their shock troopers, a callused veteran of hand-to-hand combat, throws Rom over a table and seizes dabo girl Tir Remara by the arm, calls Garek a spoonhead, p'tak, Garek calls him the biggest coward in the Empire, in the full flush of a berserker blood lost, follows Garek into a Jeffries tube on DS 9, and gets stuck in an obvious trap and suffers a claustrophobic attack. He croaks for help in childlike surrender, Garek stays with him, talks to him, calms him down. Garek makes him promise to behave, act like a gentleman. Claustrophobic anguish wins out over Klingon pride. Will never use the term 'spoonhead' again, either, even though Cardassians are spoonheads, solemn warrior's promise, nearly in tears. [so Klingons use spoons, shaped just like Terran cutlery and Cardassian foreheads]
P84 Klingon spends night in Security, solemnly thanks Garek for staying with him. Garek taken aback by honor among dolts. Klingon returns to the front.
P100 Cardassian poem 'Paean to Kunderah' by Maran Bry, unfavorably contrasts the celebrated victory against the Klingons with the Bajoran Occupation.

P104 Klingon restaurant recently reopened on DS 9. Garak's Klingon a nephew of General Martok
P128 Garek of the opinion that Romulans and Klingons need to be told what to do, not consulted or persuaded, in plan for invasion of Cardassia
P152 Commander Worf's manner of mourning completely baffles Garek. Worf entombs himself in ludicrous Vic Fontaine holosuite program, maudlin songs. Doctor Bashir chooses not to judge Worf's personal choice on how to mourn.
P178 the chef at the Klingon restaurant on DS 9 fancies himself an intergalactic gourmet, and makes tojal in yamok sauce, a Cardassian breakfast dish, for Bashir and Garek at lunch. But he can't make long strips of fried potato, referred to as chips, for Bashir.
P253 perhaps the Klingons were unconsciously attracted to what was underneath tall, beautiful, intelligent Bajoran dabo girl Tir Remara - she's a passionate revengeful Khon-Ma terrorist
P259 [pre2368] Romulan Proconsul Merrok, prime defense minister, had previously urged a Romulan alliance with the Klingon Empire to contain the Cardassians, and he had gone so far as to share cloaking technology with the Klingons. [?TOS]. Cloaking technology Romulus' most important scientific achievement. Improved interphase generator renders Federation interphase scanner virtually impotent.
Romulan Tal Shiar run by Koval, sponsored by Merrok, intense rivalry with Cardassian Obsidian Order headed by Enabran Tain.
P270 [pre2368] Romulan Proconsul Merrok believes he can manipulate a Romulan Klingon alliance through the Tal Shiar. Many of the old guard support Merrok.
P 277 [pre2368] undercover agent Garek, in conversation with avid gardener Proconsul Merrok, mentions flower Starlight Sweetness, from somewhere in the Klingon Empire.
P304 the Klingons understand power, if they think Cardassians would rather talk than die . . .
P305 [pre2368] Cardassian Procal Dukat powerful member of Central Command, and member of the Brotherhood, in favor of moving against the Klingons, to cripple them before moving against the Federation.

P330 Theragen. Pure poison. Basic Starfleet combat history was rife with accounts of 23 rd century Klingon biochemical warfare and their use of theragen as a nerve gas. Quickly and painfully deadly to humans. Not an honorable way to fight a foe. But times were different then.
P363 the guttural barking of Klingon, the almost lyrical qualities of Romulan, the klicks and grunts of High Tellarite.
P372 Tholians encountered radical physiological differences; i.e. Klingons. Not a military target. The Empire had been furious to learn of the destruction of a civilian agricultural colony, swearing vengeance on those who had been slaughtered. The true nature of what had happened had never been discovered. Tholians had deployed prototype defense system, land based web generator designed to capture inhabitants without harm. The Klingon Empire might very well respond with hostility to the news that the Tholian Assembly was responsible. The Fed would have to choose between the Alliance with the Klingons and the progress of improved relations with Tholians.

USS Defiant Captain Thomas Blair. The Defiant crew found the colony. The colony was defenseless, particularly by Klingon standards.
The Klingons never found out what happened at Traelus II, and by all reports they were more than a bit upset over the incident. If word of the Tholians involvement reaches the Klingons now, some in the Empire may well want vengeance.
97 bringing the Tholians and the Klingons to the negotiating table. Amb. Worf is pushing for negotiating now while the situation can be contained. Tholian commander Nostrene was ordered to destroy the evidence of the attack on the colony to minimize damage to Tholian relations with the Klingon Empire. The web generator was intended to be a land based weapon designed to capture the inhabitants of a planetary installation without harm to them or their structures. Tested in 2268 on Klingon agricultural colony.

P57 Quark recalls the Lady Grilka, she had been something, one of his closed deals, and he had the scars to prove it.
P62 the task force would be arriving at DS 9 soon, many a merry Klingon getting roaring drunk on bloodwine.
P88 Both the Romulans and the Klingons had wanted to establish a peacekeeping presence in the Gamma Quadrant, when the treaty was being negotiated.
P93 Curzon Dax knew Elias Vaughn. Long story. Vaughn will be Vaughn, still an enigma.
P116 there were species who could hold their own physically against the Jem’Hadar, Klingons, for example. But whereas Klingons’ code of honor could make them respect, even admire an enemy, the Jem’Hadar were bred to see every opponent as inferior.
P122 the IKS Tcha’voth, Vor’cha-class still standing guard at the wormhole.
P128 Deanna and Worf had parted ways amicably enough, and although they hadn’t faithfully kept in touch, Deanna had always wished Worf well. She’d met Jadzia once, before Worf and Dax involved, and had liked her very much. Deanna had been pleased at the news of their wedding, the expected pang of jealously lasting only a short time. Deanna had seen Worf only a month after Jadzia’s death during the mission to Betazed, and she had wanted to reach out to him, to offer him that friendship they still shared, but the crisis of the moment had made it impossible. Deanna found out from Keiko that Worf had recently returned from a battle he’d fought in Jadzia’s name.
P134 Shar coordinates with Enterprise and the Tcha’voth for whatever evacuation transport they can provide from DS 9, a thousand on the Enterprise, nearly two thousand on the Tcha’voth
P160 Admiral Ross, Captain Picard, Colonel Kira, representatives from the Klingon and Romulan Empires, meet in DS 9 wardroom. Four security guards stood outside the room, a Klingon, a Romulan, and two Starfleet. None of them looked happy to be sharing space with one another. Two Klingon captains, Captains Klag and R’taga, a Romulan commander Sartai, Admiral Ross, Captain Picard, Commander Vaughn, Colonel Kira, and Jem’Hadar Taran’atar. Taran’atar says there are not many rebellious Jem’Hadar. The Klingons didn’t seem convinced, but the others visibly relaxed. Taran’atar would have chosen to stay with his men, who died to bring him to DS 9, but death was not my mission. At this, both Klingon captains nodded, as if they understood. Taran’atar thought perhaps they did.
Captain Klag spoke slowly, his voice gruff but deliberative – We also choose to confer among ourselves. Vaughn mentions the huge areas of new territory, untapped resources, available in Gamma Quad. The calculating gleam in Sartai’s gaze, the barely hidden grins of the Klingons, the opportunities were considerable, and too important to ruin with political power plays.

Unless Chancellor Martok can solidify his power base in the next six months the peace between the Klingons and Romulans will likely crumble. If they go to war, the victor will likely attack the Fed next.

26 Ross hands out assignments to Starfleet vessels near the Klingon border.
30 Ross picks Picard because he’s dealt with the key races; Klingons, Romulans, Gorn and earned their respect one way or another. Worf, the Fed ambassador on Qo’noS has already arranged a meeting for Picard with Chancellor Martok. First stop.
The Organians haven’t appeared in so long, it’s Fed opinion that they forced a peace between the Fed and Klingons to steer us where we are today. Whatever their concerns are, they are clearly not directed our way.
46 the Iconians flourished long before sentient life existed on Earth, Vulcan or Qo’noS.
Picard looked forward to seeing his old comrade Worf once more. They were last together when the Enterprise brought Worf, newly appointed ambassador to the empire, to his posting. Picard also looked forward to speaking with Martok, a vastly different sort of chancellor than Gowron was. Picard tells members of his crew who have never been to Qo’noS about the world and its people. He made sure to cover some of the customs that would need to be observed and pointed out the Fed ambassador and staff would be present to help smooth the way.
50 the green world of Qo’noS.
Starfleet felt a personal approach to Chancellor Martok was best and Picard couldn’t disagree. With their codes of conduct just expecting them to fall beside them could be seen as an insult. Picard also did not fully know the tenor of the Klingon government since Martok took control of the Council. As he understood it, Worf killed Gowron in combat and earned the title himself. Instead of seizing the power, once and for all restoring glory to his family name, he felt unworthy of the position. Instead, Worf decided a race of warriors needed to be led by one who had seen battle, and lived long enough to learn from it. Martok took control of the Klingon people that day, and, after a rather tumultuous transition period, had effected chances that benefited his people. In a society that had seen more than its share of corruption, Martok sounded like the right man fro the times. And Picard was immensely proud of Worf’s actions, feeling more than a little like a parent.
Worf’s office at the Fed embassy. Worf is overseeing the preparations for Picard’s meeting personally so is unavailable to take his call. Worf told his aide Giancarlo Wu to suggest to Picard to bring along a mild analgesic. The chancellor has decided there will be a meal during the meeting.
Picard gritted his teeth and nodded – Fresh gagh no doubt.
Wu – It’s not the chancellor’s favorite but whatever is served will absolutely be the freshest available.
Worf still didn’t wear the mantle of ambassador well in front of his former comrades. A part of him missed the journey through space, the battles to be fought, the glory to be found in the unknown. Still, he recognized the responsibility that came with the honor of representing the Fed. They were his chosen people and despite that loyalty being tested time and again, he had found a steadfastness that saw him through each adversity.
Welcome to the First City
Worf respected a great many members of Starfleet, but Picard was one of two he held in highest esteem.
Worf didn’t see any reason to review the litany of problems, issues and politics that filled each of his days. Picard could not change any of it, nor could speaking of it do him well with any who overheard.

Martok waits in council chamber
Armed guards stood at each side of wide heavy doors and looked at Worf and Picard with suspicion. These were Martok’s elite, and after the Dominion War, Klingons chose to remain in a heightened state of paranoia.
Remains of a gateway were located on the remains of Praxis. Once the government learned the Iconian network had been activated, the high council ordered an immediate check, nothing found on Qo’noS, then the moon checked.
The Klingon path toward peace with the fed wasn’t a straight path but with each passing generation it grew a little easier.
The chancellor keeps the information about found gateways to himself
When threatened, Klingons will defend their homes
Worf – My people may see the gateways in more than peaceful ways. there will always be those who do not see benefit from allying ourselves with the Fed. Some, like the house of Duras, would try and buy the technology for themselves, dividing the Empire.
Picard – Few have gone to the lengths that House has.
Privately, Worf was just as glad as Picard that Lursa and B’Etor had been dead for years. They had dishonored him and brought shame to his people on more than one occasion.
Martok continues to instill order, but the strain of the Klingon people has been great. Gowron ruled unwisely and some Houses have bided their time. Martok will have to remain strong.
Two guards gripped the handles and opened the doors inward. The room was dimmer than the halls. Worf noted that the full complement of the Council was missing, a protocol insult few but Picard would even notice. Leaning over a dark wooden table was Martok. Martok seemed unchanged since taking control of the government. Martok seemed fueled by the authority. Not reveling in it, but with newfound purpose which suited his sturdy form. The body was thin, tall and rangy, battle-hardened. Martok’s face showed interest and the one good eye gleamed in the light.
Gowron was fierce, a true warrior. But he was not a veteran of war, had not led men  and ships into battle. Gowron knew how to play the political games that seemed to be preferred to matters of honor on Qo’noS and his eyes bulged in delight.
Martok had seem more than his share of battle. He had risen thought the ranks and had collected s0metihng more valuable than political chits; respect and loyalty. His bearing and tone spoke of each battle, each death achieved in defense of the Klingons’ interests. It was a voice that had seen more than enough senseless bloodshed as well, Worf knew, making him the right man at the right time to help steer his people
Political machinations within the council chambers and many of the influential houses still remained active, too active in Worf’s opinion. Like Martok, he disapproved of such games, feeling it cheapened the honor of those Houses and their inhabitants.
Martok made a noise that sent the courtiers away from him.
Worf had learned in his short time as diplomat the importance of protocol, even with Klingons.
Martok, son of Krigar, leader of the High Council
Worf – Know before all that this meeting between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets is duly authorized and is overseen by the ambassador.
Tankards were brought forth and quickly handed to one and all
Picard would gamely drain the tankard, not to be bested by the most basic of Klingon tests
Excellent vintage, remarkably smooth, from Sirella’s family
Worf knew his friend, and leader of his House, to be a shrewd judge of character. Martok already knew of Picard’s exploits before Worf could begin to speak
The Iconians had a representative on Qo’noS a week earlier making an offer on the gateway technology. A very efficient mode of transport in Martok’s opinion
The empire has had some unwelcome visitors through the gateways already. We’d train our disruptors on each gateway if need be. I would sooner encase each one in a block of duranium than expose my people.
Worf rarely saw Martok surprised, but Picard’s mention of the starship sized gateways was one of those opportunities. Clearly, anything more than humanoid-proportioned had not occurred to him. Nothing of that nature had been spotted in the Empire.
Attendants brought in platters and bowls, setting them at a side table, scent Worf recognized as a steaming spiced soup, one Martok liked. Something he learned to live on as a young warrior. Worf considers the soup spices more potent than habanero peppers from Earth.
Martok – The Romulans think us weak after the war. We lost many warriors, many ships. To have the ability to walk form one room on Qo’noS to Rura Penthe in a second would mean much for the Empire.
Picard – We need to show solidarity to the Iconians.
Martok looked at the food and nodded once in approval
Worf knew Riker could handle the raw meats, but Picard always struck Worf as preferring things cooked.
Worf had tremendous respect for each man and would dislike seeing them at odds.
Flat bread and some gagh
Martok – Your name has been known to me for some time, Picard. The exploits of the great Enterprise may be the most studied in the Empire. the first such ship certainly caused enough dishonor to several Houses. But your own actions redeemed that ship’s honor and I respect that. I worry about our community and the Klingons’ place in it. There is something about the Iconians I do not trust. Starfleet has people who are suspicious of everyone and everything. Why else an intelligence division? While you have my people’s respect, Picard, know that the honor carried by being Arbiter of Succession is over. Gowron is dead and I lead the people. However, K’mpec saw honor in you, as does Worf. you therefore have my trust. I will assign two battle cruisers, but they shall act under my direction. The captain shall follow my directions but if the Iconians fire at you, my ships will stand at your side.
Drink the soup
Picard bowed with formal thanks, to seal the point he took a handful of gagh and stuffed it into his mouth
Picard asks for Worf to accompany him, with excessive formality
Martok agrees.
Martok – The Empire will stand beside the Federation once more. Oh, and do bring Worf back in one piece.
91 Deep Space Station K-7 had seen better days. It was well placed when originally constructed, just a parsec from the Klingon border. Both used it for trading, meetings and clandestine rendezvous. It was also immortalized in the several dozen songs the Klingons sang about their nemesis, the tribbles. Over time, the location became les vital , and relations thawed between the governments. Place thieves brought good to find fences, information was the coin of the realm.
101 Entering Cardassian space Picard makes sure his Klingon ships stay on system’s edge, there might still be raw feelings on both sides.
104 k’tinga class vessels, rather than the smaller birds of prey
113 Picard put the Klingons on the right flank and the Gorn on the left. Picard has Chargh and Qob standby, no overt actions on their part as contact with Romulans approaches. They acknowledge but they didn’t sound happy.
Picard – Klingons rarely sound happy. It s all in how you listen to them. Let’s keep an eye on them.
Worf - Grekor’s house has never betrayed the Council. Grekor is old, a loyalist and eager to serve for future considerations. He will obey
Old animosities very tough to bury between Romulans and Klingons
117 Worf had improved his attitude toward the Romulans, he retained some suspicion and it was understandable.
Captain Grekor objects strongly to serving with Romulan petaQ!.
Worf – The chancellor assigned you to this mission, to follow Captain Picard. Who else accompanies us is not your concern.
Grekor with a surly tone – Actually, Ambassador, it is. I no more want to see our people attacked than you do. I think Picard has the heart of a warrior and I do not object to his being in command. But we will be exposing our backs to a people known for their treachery, and that I cannot abide.
Worf - There is no honor in provoking a fight just because they share the same space with us. They are our allies and have been since the war, why not travel along side them now?
Dull green light filled the bridge since the captain ordered the alert and Worf knew the disruptors were already trained on both ships.
Grekor - They are not to be trusted. What sort of commander would I be were I to lead my men into a Romulan ambush?
Worf, not intending any humor – A dead one.
Grekor – True, but there is not pleasure in it this way.
Worf – Picard has Martok’s trust, why not yours?
Grekor seemed to be forcing himself to relax – Yes, I will trust, Ambassador. Your accomplishments have earned that. In fact, when this is over I would like to discuss ways to bring our Houses closer.
Corpulent captain Grekor.
Picard asks Grekor to stand back and give the other ships room to maneuver. You are to shoot only if fired upon, and shoot to disable, am I clear?
Grekor – Bah, that’s not a battle, it’s target practice. Chargh out.
Despite a few decades of peaceful coexistence, Picard thought, few truly understood the complex warrior culture that commanded the Klingon people. After being thrust directly into it, and as a duty to Worf, Picard had immersed himself in its intricacies. Their codes and mores were fascinating reading, and he understood how they united under an ideal. Some of their conquered worlds went unwillingly, but an equal number liked the way of life and were proud to be a part of the Empire.
Chargh and Qob in position. The Klingon ships bracketed Deltan ships with fire, giving them only one course to take.
129 having the Romulans along adds some complications, such as keeping the Klingons from firing. Picard has no doubt Captain Grekor will maintain order, and having Worf will be an additional asset.
Obsequious Captain Grekor wishes to consult with Worf on tactical planning. That is for Captain Picard. Grekor was hunched over a table studying the flowing diagrams that charted possible battle scenarios. Grekor and Krong, the first officer, were trying to see how quickly the two Klingon battle cruisers could pivot and fire cleanly, without placing any other ship in the crossfire. When the two disagreed, they turned to Worf for his input.
Grekor – We merely plan our defense in case of treachery. There’s little you can offer when the disruptors begin firing
Worf gritted his teeth, frustrated by wanting to offer complete help with his extensive experience but needing to remember his role as the ambassador.
An officer reprogrammed the simulation to make the ships move as Worf suggested. Armed wit this knowledge, Grekor could strike first, and Worf hoped, respect what he had to offer.
Worf wished for a holocube, so he could look at rotating pictures of Alexander, Jadzia and a recent portrait of the Rozhenkos. He hadn’t packed for a vacation, but for a vital mission.
The Klingon letters crawling across the communications terminal screen indicated the message was from Enterprise.
Riker – Ambassador, how good of you to make time for a lowly commander.
Worf – Ambassadors are trained to speak with the high as well as the low.
133 Worf suggests Riker and he, for entertainment, re-create the battle of Malkir, to ready their limbs for the battle ahead. If Riker recalls the battle correctly, it was two against a dozen aliens with three knees, over an active hot steam geyser. Swords and bat’leths. The dead around them might have been holograms but there was a joy pounding in Worf’s chest. It had been too long, he realized, since he had cut lose like this. Riker was grinning, which Worf found annoying more often than not. Worf butted opponent with bat’leth. Riker lunged low, aiming the sword up, and the rushing attacker impaled himself on the tips. Twin-tipped sword for Riker. With both hands gripping the bat’leth Worf thrust it so one end was in the enemy’s forehead and the other point in his abdomen.
Worf was able to share many concerns with Wu over the last few months. Worf and Riker had endured so much together, even loving the same woman. While his heart mourned for Jadzia, it was also glad to see Troi and Riker back where they belonged: together. His friends on the Enterprise were always getting him to open up, something he did with reluctance. And yet it usually did help. Worf needed just one swing from his blade to decapitate the final enemy.
Riker – you’re just not used to being the center of attention. And you’re a man of action so sitting on the sidelines hurts. To put aside those warrior tendencies to take on an even greater mission for both your people takes quite a man. Martok’s lucky to have you close at hand on Qo’noS.
Worf nodded once in appreciation.
Qob’s captain, Tarnan.
The two talked ships, armaments and strategy, Worf hadn’t felt this good in a long time.
139 Captains Grekor and Tarnan for the Klingons
Worf sat speaking with Troi in hushed tones
143 Grekor – Should an enemy government get the device, the Cardassians say, nothing will stop us from annihilating them before they could attack us. Self-defense is a universal right.
Ralwisssh from the Gorn – So it seem sis starting a needless war. You say you are people of honor. Attacking because you are a sore loser is not honorable.
Commander Desan, Romulan – The Klingons would attack in the name of self-defense which is their right, but to start a war that may involve us all, is not.
Worf leaned forward in his ambassadorial robes and waited for attention. He saw Grekor gesture to stop Oliv [Deltan] from making a comment. His eyes were bright and his great brow furrowed.
Worf – Klingons do not fight wars just to fight. We save that for after. Romulans rarely allow themselves to get dragged into something so messy as a war. The Gorn fight to protect what is theirs, but they do not provoke others. The Ferengi may have armed those seeking war, but have never declared it themselves. All of that might change should one government acquire this technology. One race cannot and should not dictate terms to other races. The Federation has asked you all to come together and seek nothing more than the truth. Together we can keep the peace, be allowed to pursue our won destinies. That is the way it has been and should always be.
For a Klingon to say those words, one who represented not Qo’noS but the Fed, they had much stronger impact.
161 Grekor, captain’s seat toward the front of the room. Officers from behind sounded out status reports, it was confirmed the Chargh was battle worthy.
Grekor had let himself go, his bulk was unbecoming a warrior.
Daroq, gunner, young, healthy, calculates weapons range
Did the meeting go well?
Grekor – Picard looks your ordinary, pampered human but there’s rock beneath the veneer. I can see why K’mpec liked him.
Grekor knew Worf’s history with Picard and felt if he performed well during this mission the word would go from Picard to Worf and from Worf to Martok. There could be much glory for his House, needed after years of misfortune and ignominy. The House of Krad had long ago joined an alliance against K’mpec and failed. Losing their seat at the Council. An entire generation before Grekor’s suffered for it and only now, though years of hard work and hard-forged alliances, did any member of the house earn glory. This mission meant much to the aging Klingon, perhaps a last chance for honor and redemption for his father’s father.

173 incoming message to Picard from Captain Grekor, less than thrilled to be ignored by Iconians – Picard, are we just going to keep approaching until we ram them? Interesting negotiating ploy.
Grekor snorted in disgust, letting the Captain know exactly how he felt about whatever it was the Iconians were thinking – As you see fit. This is your mission but I am already weary of these people.
177 Grekor’s voice filled the speaker – Captain, they’ve blinked. Why do we not fight back?
Picard – I will politely ask for an explanation before this turns into a war.
Female Lt. Vale, an admirable replacement for Worf at tactical
Aboard the Chargh Grekor grinned with glee at the prospect of a battle. His crew was efficient, the captain knew.
Female officer at the science post stood over her viewer, she seemed to shirk from the captain’s glare. She held her ground.
I can’t say with surety
Keep us dancing
Once the ship was in position everyone straightened up, ready for battle
Grekor – I always underestimate those sneaky accountants. But then I see them fight and remember why we haven’t conquered them yet. [Ferengi]
187 Picard sets up covering fire for the Marco Polo from the Qob and the Carreon vessels.
Picard – The Mercury is hurt. Can you tractor them out?
Grekor – If they can’t defend themselves, then we shouldn’t risk our ship to help.
Picard – That’s a Klingon tactic and approach I do not subscribe to.
Worf – The Federation requests your assistance, Captain. Will you help your allies or not?
The Iconians needed to be stopped, and Picard also had to assure that they wouldn’t be wiped out in a fit of Klingon or Romulan rage.
196 the tactical screen revealed the unusual sight of the Romulan ship Bloodsword and the Klingon fighter Qob firing disruptors that were more similar in nature than either side would ever admit unleashing their fury as the two ships targeted one small Iconian vessel after another.
207 the Qob and the Marco Polo have punched through the bottom of the sphere.
Worf seemed remarkably unfazed by the battle. Worf would not hesitate if he had contributions.
Picard send Riker and Vale, and invites Klingon allies to beam their own team aboard Iconian ships
211 Vale - the Charge beams aboard her own team. Knowing them, thy will be even more heavily armed and without any medical support. Captain Grekor intends to place them on the opposite side of the ship since we can’t tell where their command center might be.
Riker knew Vale could never replace Worf or even Tasha Yar but she was more than capable.
215 several of the Iconians seemed to have Klingon forehead ridges
as expected the Klingon landing party was having their hands full of rushing Iconians. Even outnumbered three to one, Riker could tell there wasn’t even a contest.
Captain Grekor spotted Riker – Come, I can save one for you.
Grekor hefted an Iconian over his head, and tossed him to the far side of the room – As you wish.
220 when Riker heard the battle cry he broke into a broad smile – Ambassador Worf, my hero.
Worf, in that deep, welcome voice of his – Will, you are injured.
The Iconians proved to be less than a challenge to  Grekor and his landing party, which infuriated him. These yellow skinned weaklings could not fight like Klingons. trying to win a battle through sheer numbers proved nothing and was beneath his contempt.
This much technology meant it was a necessary location.
Kliv, one of Grekor’s best warriors, was able to learn the control panels. This impressed Grekor, since he had never before considered Kliv as anything more than a career soldier. But one who could fight and make a computer sing was a valuable asset.
Kliv – My best estimate is that this room is an engineering control station, my lord.
Kliv turned back to the console, knowingly risking Grekor’s anger.
Now this was something Grekor understood, a room throbbing with power. These engines could easily handle the highest warp for longer than those of either the Fed or the Klingon Empire. So, he would wrest its secrets and bring it back to Martok, insuring some victory, some advantage for his own House.
Find me the ship’s secrets and we shall all benefit.
My lord, Kliv began to obeisance, which pleased Grekor. Too few Klingons seemed to know their place anymore, but Kliv was well trained. The junior warrior
Grekor – Picard is not a man to cross.
He wanted to unsheathe a blade and strike a blow for Picard’s honor but had to stop himself, second-guessing his gut. It galled him, but for the moment he would look after the overall interests of his people.
Should Kahless wish it, his time would come
Kliv proceeded to coax the alien code into revealing itself.
231 Troi gulped down the last of a cool cup of raktajino.
233 Kliv locked most of the Iconians in a nearby room and posted a guard.
Kliv, taller and far broader than Geordi La Forge
Kliv spoke, trying to sound more like he was talking to himself than to fellow engineer.
Kliv spat but nodded in reluctant agreement
Geordi and Kliv exchange technical small talk for a little while
242 with a hand gesture, two of Grekor’s largest men strode out of the engine room in search of an Iconian for Crusher to examine. The Klingons returned with a very frightened Iconian woman between them. Clearly she had never seen a Klingon before. Grekor loomed over her.
lo’laHbe’
LaForge doesn’t speak Klingon. But it didn’t sound good
252 all Worf’s training from children’s games on Gault to his Academy training and experiences in Starfleet would come to play as he had to vanquish his opponent in time to stop the explosive. Picard would beam his people from the ship, Grekor would also retreat, knowing the captain would rather fight from strength than blunder blindly in the name of honor. Worf fights three Gorn in Iconian engineering room. One clutching at him, his talons biting through the layers of fabric and actually ripping open his skin. Worf knew enough to avoid the sharp teeth. He wriggled around so he could clasp a crushing bear hug on the Gorn.
Worf heard the cries of victory from his fellow Klingons. Several got to him and they were smacking him on the shoulders. It felt good, but less than genuine and he felt resentment start to build up. Thy fell back a step, clearing a space for Grekor.
Wise answer
With his blood now racing he chose to remain at the locus of activity
Grekor – The House of Krad is a small one. But I have checked and my be’nI’, Rorka, remains unattached. A man like you could benefit from a woman’s companionship. Shall I arrange an introduction when we return to Qo’noS.
Worf of course had no interest in meeting this man’s sister, but he had less wish to insult the captain. Where he anything but an ambassador Worf could hurl out an insult and be done with it. Worf says he shall consider it.
All Fed member planets with gateways have posted guards and barricades.  The Fed asked the Klingon forces to enact similar safeguards but Martok is hard-pressed to cover them all. Female Fed president

Grekor – Regardless of race, engineers always speak in their own tongue.
Worf – They are a breed apart
Grekor and Worf seemed irritable, just watching
Picard will allow no one else to take the risk of stepping through the gateway into unknown.
Grekor – You are a warrior after all
Worf- He has the heart of a Klingon.

P227 A Klingon sentry keeping guard at gateway found on Doral's ship
234 Captain Grekor, leader of the Klingon delegation. His stance showed he was pretty angry, feet firmly deep into the bridge's carpet, arms crossed before his chest, which rose and fell quickly at order to rig all 48 ships with a single link to avoid sabotage and surprise, issued by Carter Brisbayne of Mercury as senior officer. The explanation did not mollify the Klingon. It was a good sign that he came alone; there would be no honor to defend before his own crew. Riker promises him no more breach of protocol.
Grekor - I will hold you to it, Commander.
258 Grekor's sister would be considered quite a catch for Ambassador Worf. Seeking some way to restore glory to the fallen House of Krad.
Worf was interested in many things but finding a replacement mate for his late wife Jadzia Dax was at the bottom of such a list. He totally ignored the beseeching looks Grekor shot his way.
The very presence of Klingons was more troubling to the Petraw than that of humans or Romulans.
Grekor downloads Beta Quadrant star charts
292 Destroy a handful of random ships, disable more, and even the odds. How Klingon of you.
294 Deanna and Worf had been lovers once but now they were friends and she was genuinely glad to see him. Despite the length of the mission, not once did they have a chance to speak. Troi hugged Worf, Worf discomfited with the display, gave her the briefest of hugs in return. Worf transports to Marco Polo, ship Deanna is commanding.
Worf leaned down and whispered so only Troi could hear - You command them well. I am impressed.
Rather than say anything, she leaned up, kissed him on the cheek and laughed as his eyes went wide. Worf left the bridge, his speed making the ambassadorial robes flutter.
298 Troi and Worf meal in her quarters, two old friends catching up. It was quite pleasant for her to share her happiness with Worf and she saw that the melancholy he normally wore as a cloak was just a bit lighter. Time was finally beginning to heal the wound caused by Jadzia's death. She saw he was not at all ready to find another partner, but at least was comfortable back among his people.
Worf - Being an ambassador has its challenges and rewards. Back to Qo'noS and on to the next assignment.
The presence of the hulking Klingon ambassador on the bridge of the Marco Polo made everyone act by the book. This made Deanna chuckle inwardly.
Worf had first met Vaughn at Betazed during the war. Now he had Worf's old job of commanding the Defiant.
The Resonator and Worf beam to the Defiant. That ship's destination took it close to the Klingon border and should any problems flare up it made the most sense for the ambassador to be present. The Chargh, already deep within the Empire, would collect Worf later and bring him back to Qo'noS. Deanna gave Worf another long hug as he left the bridge. Troi had known Vaughn since she was a child, friend of her father's.
303 Captain Grekor stood alone on a desert planet that had been conquered by Kahless's son in one of the earliest additions to the Empire.
Captain Klag on Ufandi III, a home to pirates and black marketers, scores of one man craft broke and scattered as IKS Gorkon arrived. Having a reputation to be feared could come in handy now and then.
Worf had asked Klag for help. Klag only too glad to once more provide a service to the ambassador and his people. He had bloodied his bat'leth in maintaining order along the border and was ready to do something of consequence.
317 The Qob was arcing around, ready to head back to the Klingon Empire.
317 The Petraw voluntarily leave this portion of the quadrant. After all, the Klingons, the Romulans and even the Careon might demand Petraw deaths as payment for loss of sovereign lives. This might damage politics for a time.

Order of Bat'leth formed by Lukara after ascension of Kahless. Lukara was concerned whether or not her mate's words would live on after him. conquest is only the beginning of the battle, not the end. Lukara formed the Order of the Bat'leth from among Kahless's most trusted followers. The Order was tasked not only with spreading the great word of Kahless but also enforcing his doctrine. If a House head was acting dishonorably, members of the Order would be sent to put him on the right path. If a warrior went back on his word to an honorable foe, the Order would ensure that he kept that word. Now only an acknowledgment of great deeds. Their spirits have been released. The rest is pomp and foolishness.
Klingons have two afterlifes. The honored cross the River of Blood to Sto-Vo-kor where our warriors join the Black Fleet to fight for eternity. The dishonored, the unworthy, ride the Barge of the Dead to Gre'thor.
Klingons bend their knee to no one, divine or mortal. Our Empire remains strong because we are beholden only to ourselves.
Kahless gave us our warrior's code, led us out of barbarism and into lives of glory and honor.
Who maintains Sto-vo-kor if there are no gods? Who cares? They are there and that is all that matters

No one had made it successfully to the Defense Force outpost, there was in fact, no outpost. Beamed out. warriors rated on how far they got before succumbing, how long they fought for their lives.
In Rura Penthe test, Klag made it almost to the pole. Thrived on hardship. When beamed up, he demanded to be sent back to finish.

Who truly understood how lowborn Klingons thought?
Centuries ago the Klingons thought we were alone in the universe. Then the Hur'q came. A vicious species, they ravaged our planet from space, stole our treasures, and were never heard from again. From that day on, Klingons knew the universe had changed. The world was no longer Qo'noS, it was the entire galaxy. If we were to remain strong, if we were to remain Klingons, we had to face that galaxy head-on. Now we are one of the great powers of the quadrant.

Warriors die all the time. Warriors were quite common in the Empire. They always died and they were always replaced. It was the way of things.
A great Klingon poet 'Fortune favors the bold.'
Kahless – If a cause is not worth dying for it is not worth having
Disruptors retuned to fire underwater
Considerable Klingon capacity to hold their breath
Hunter's instincts on edge as a violation of the natural order of things

Killing innocents sickens Klag, he prefers to face honorable foe, battle should be done between warriors,
I have sworn to defend my empire and I will do so by whatever means are necessary
Last installment of Battlecruiser Vengeance produced over 100 years ago. Produced during height of tensions between empire and Fed. Computer generated Andorians – more green than blue and antennae too long. Tellarite looked more like a targ. Betazoid fully blacked out eyes instead of just dark irises. Trill with spots all over. Over the top production, fun. Inane predictability. I am Koth, Koth of the Vengeance, and this ship is my prize. He did it in every installment.

The Demon by Loren Coleman and Randall Bills
December 2376 Klingons subjugated the Resaurans, a think bodied snake lifeform with nearly vestigial legs but strong arms. Hypnotic gaze.
For the better part of a century using them for their large minerals deposits. Traditions were given more weight than laws, which caused no end of difficulty with their overlords. The Klingons kept them in virtual slavery and then discarded them and moved on once the most accessible resources had been tapped out, long before Archer. More than 220 years.
Resaurians gleaned tech from Klingon cast offs,
Not even the Klingon occupation had interrupted Resaurians obedience to the Council.

Memorial
B’E has been working on a surprise for Tom while he’s on 14 day away mission. 1952 Television set. She replicated the parts and assembled it herself. She took a little poetic license and made a remote control. And found cartoons in Voyager’s database. She did research on the jingles, inserted into programs. Confusing, but she kept them in for authenticity. She even did popcorn. Hockey game. A couple episodes of The Untouchables. Tom completely absorbed, maybe this was a bad idea.
B’E attempts to comfort Tom about the disturbing memories the away team has.
The Obelisk at Khitomer remembers the events of the massacre there.
Spirit Folk
B’E thinks Tom’s quaint little seaside Irish village is an accident waiting to happen, running it 24 hours a day. Don’t come running to B’E when it starts to depolarize.
B’E – just pull the plug on the malfunctioning program. Fair Haven can be reprogrammed, Tom and Harry can’t.

B’E called Ballard’s work competent, high praise coming B’E

The audience throws things if the performance is good. If you want to learn about Klingon culture, the opera is a good place to start. There must be a love story. There is no opera without one.
