WebQuests
This WebQuest is appropriate for elementary and middle school students. The title of this WebQuest is "That's Plymouth Rock", by Midge Frazel. The students will tour Plymouth, Massachusetts at the site pf Plymouth Rock through various Web Sites and answer higher-level thinking questions that are presented in the introduction of the WebQuest. The students must imagine that they are at Plymouth Rock with many tourists who do not speak English and do not know the History of America. This WebQuest has many resources that the students must explore to complete the tasks that are presented.
This WebQuest is appropriate for Upper Elementary and Middle School Levels. There is a basic question at the introduction of the WebQuest that asks, "What does it mean to be a good person"? The creator of this WebQuest believes that the answer lies hidden in Ancient Greek Myths. The students will investigate Ancient Greeks, Explore the behavior of Heroes that were created by Ancient Greeks, Create Greek Myths and share the myths with others to solidify ideas of the traits of a good person. Despite the fact that the following links do not work: The discussion board, one of the Greek Alphabet Links, and the Education in Athens Link, this WebQuest has an ocean of valuable resources that the students will use to discover life of the Ancient Greeks and many higher-level thinking questions to guide the tasks.
This WebQuest is appropriate for the upper elementary and middle school levels. In this WebQuest, the students will take on the role of an archeologist who has discovered a treasure chest of a famous explorer. The students will choose an explorer and then write a journal from the perspective of that particular explorer. The students will create artifacts that their explorer might have encountered and create maps and navigational tools that the explorer may have used. A time-line and a treasure chest will also be created by the students in which they will finally present to the class. The instructions are very thorough and clear and the WebQuest is full of content-rich resources that are truly valuable for the exploration and tasks.
This WebQuest is appropriate for the upper elementary and middle school levels. The driving key question that starts off this WebQuest is, "What would you read in an American Newspaper 225 years ago"? This is a collaborative project in which the students will become experts on the content of the lifestyles of New England, middle and southern colonies of the New World. The students will also create their Colonial Gazette, making it realistic-looking while learning about newspaper design and journalism tools. This project has role tickets that are assigned to each member of each group that will ensure that each and every student are held accountable for their group project. The directions are clear and concise and the author reminds the students every step of the way about the writing process, using dictionary skills, and other writing research strategies.
This WebQuest is appropriate for grades 1-4 in the elementary level. In this WebQuest, the students will learn about Walt Disney and the history of Mickey Mouse. They will explore the Disney theme parks and learn how to draw Mickey Mouse on paper and on a computer! The student's will also learn to say Mickey Mouse in other languages and sing along with some of Disney's favorite songs! This WebQuest uses many different questions from Bloom's Taxonomy to drive the learning experience. There is also a PowerPoint that is included in this Website that has additional resources.
