"Nick, hey man, wake up for just a second," Greg said unsure if he should  touch him. "Nick, wake up. I gotta go in to work for a while," Greg  said a  bit louder.

Nick slowly opened his eyes. He looked at Greg.

"I'm sorry, man, but I gotta go to work. Just wanted to make sure  you were  ok before I left," Greg said.

Nick sat up. "There still pizza left if you're hungry. You fell asleep."

"Yeah, that pill kicks my ass," Nick said. He slowly sat up.

"I may be gone all night," Greg said.

Nick closed his eyes and stretched. Midnight jumped up on his lap.  Nick took  in a slow breath. He again looked at Greg. Greg took his hand and  Nick stood up. Greg led him to the restroom.

"Thanks," Nick said walking inside.

Greg leaned on the door, Midnight rubbing on his shoes. "Oh, sure, now you come see me," he said picking her up. "You're daddy's sweet girl aren't you?" he said patting her head.

Nick stood up from the toilet and pulled his pants up. He took a few steps.

"Oh, shit," he said. Greg quickly opened the door and took Nick's hand.

"I'll find out how long it's going to be before you can go home,"  Greg said guiding him back to the couch. "I got your computer on line while you were asleep," Greg said as Nick sat down.

"Thanks," he said reaching for his bag pulling out a few pill bottles. Greg went into the kitchen and got a few cans of pop out. He walked back in and sat them on TV tray that was still holding the pizza.

He watched as Nick took a few different pills.

"All right, Midnight, no wild party," Greg said. The cat jumped up next to Nick and meowed as if to answer Greg.

"You good?" Greg asked.

Nick nodded. "Yeah, thanks," he said reaching for the pizza. "I'm sure I'll be right here when you get back," he added with a smile.

"I got cable and stuff so you know just try and relax," Greg said petting the cat one last time. He turned and walked out of the room to his car.

*The lab*

"Greg, I'm going to kill if you don't stop talking about this guy," Sara said.

"It's just so crazy. Can you imagine not leaving your house for 18 years?" Greg asked.

"I give you," Sara yelled.

"Ok, ok, I'm sorry," he said, walking into the break room.

"Hey, there G, what's up?" Warrick asked.

"Just waiting on DNA, Trace and Audio," he said sitting next to him.

"Yeah, everything is backed up tonight," Warrick said shaking his head.

"So" Greg started.

"I don't wanna hear another thing about this Nick guy, G," Warrick said.

"I haven't been talking about him that much have I?" Greg asked getting up to get a cup of coffee.

"Please G it's all you talked about all night," Warrick said. "What in the world do you see in him?" Warrick said as Sara walked into the room.

"I'm leaving," she said.

"I'm sorry guys, I won't say another word," Greg said sitting down.

"I mean you couldn't take him on a date anywhere," Warrick said.

"Oh, honey, let's go on a date, I'll get a pay per view movie and we'll get take out tonight," Sara said laughing.

"Oh, and then well get out the fancy forks and break out the wine," Warrick chimed in.

"Guys, that's not funny," Greg said.

"Oh, and for a fancy night in bed you could just light a candle and change the sheets," Sara added.

"No, he can't get off Greg's couch," Warrick said trying to keep a straight face.

"Date night is calling and ordering a pizza and hoping Showtime has on a good movie," Sara said laughing even harder.

"Come on guys, you don't even know him," Greg said.

"Neither do you," Sara said. "Oh, wait you've met on line and have talked to him for over a year," she added.

"Guys, stop it," Greg said suddenly feeling like a small child being teased.

"Greg's got the hots for a shut in," Sara chanted over and over. Warrick joined in.

Greg got up and walked out of the room.

"Ok, that was kinda mean," Sara said.

"Yeah, but man it's just too weird. I can't believe that our wild and crazy Greg would even like a guy like that," Warrick said.

"I'm sure he's just amazed by his illness and nothing more."

They both turned seeing Gil. "But I must say that was not very nice," he added walking out of the room.

"Greg, are you ok?" Gil asked.

"Yeah, I'm a big boy, I can take a little teasing," Greg said, now in the locker room.

Greg's beeper went off. "Oh, thank god, my trace is back," he said walking away from Gil.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Greg asked Hodges.

"Is the rumor true?" he asked.

"Where are my results?" Greg said angrily.

"I heard you took in some kind of crazy guy?" Hodges asked putting the paper behind his back.

"Just give me the paper," Greg said. "I'm not in the mood"

"You are no fun anymore," he said.

"I'm not kidding, give me the paper," Greg yelled.

"Fine here, take a chill pill," he said and tossed the paper at Greg.

Greg glared at him and walked out of the room.

"Greg," Catherine called out.

"What?" he yelled. "Oh, shit, sorry Catherine," he said.

"What's up?" she asked.

"It's nothing," he said.

"It's the Nick guy isn't it?"

"Oh, my god, don't you people have anything else better to do then talk about me and my private life," Greg said with his teeth clenched.

"Oh, no," Catherine said. "Oh have you slept with him, cause Archie and Bobby kinda Greg come back I'm just joking, lighten up," she yelled.

Greg stormed outside.

He punched a tree a few times then clenched his fist in pain.

"You should punch a pillow, it's less painful," Gil said.

"Everyone knows about Nick and they are talking about him and making jokes about him."

"People make jokes about things they don't understand," Gil said calmly.

"They don't even know him, or why he's like this. They just poke fun at someone who's had it really bad."

"You sound like you care about this man," Gil said.

"I'm starting to, he trusts me. I don't know why but he does. He will follow me anywhere. I just have to hold out my hand. The poor guy was trapped in my bathroom most of the day because he was so scared. But he didn`t want to wake me up. So he just sat there with my cat." Greg said.

"It sounds like you've become his safe person Greg, which can be a good thing. You may be able to help him out. But, I'm sorry Greg, I don't have time to chat. Monday we can talk. You should learn what you are dealing with. And don't worry, I won't tease or make any jokes," Gil said.

"That would be nice," Greg said "Thanks."

"For now, just keep him in his safe zone," Gil said.

"That's my couch," Greg said leaning on the tree.

"You should put some ice on your hand," Gil said getting into his car. Greg looked down at it. He sighed - it was starting to swell up - and headed back inside. Greg walked into the break room and got a cup and filled it with ice. He placed a piece on his hand.

"Oh, did we hurt your feelings that bad?" Warrick said walking inside.

"You don't know what it's like to live with a fear that is so strong you can't leave your house. Can you imagine what happened to him to make him be like that? I'm sure it was pretty bad. And yet you joke about it like it's something funny," Greg said standing up.

"G, I'm sorry man, I was just trying to be funny," Warrick said.

"Well, you shouldn't joke about stuff you know nothing about."

"I suppose you're some expert now?" Warrick said angrily.

"I know more about it than you do," he said walking out of the room.

"Whatever, man," Warrick said sitting down. "I don't know why you care so much anyways," he yelled. "He's a loser anyways."

Greg sat in Gil office trying to get away from everyone.

"The rumor mill getting to you?" Catherine asked.

"I'm just waiting for DNA to page me so I can shut this case and go home," Greg said.

"Does Gil know you're in here? Cause you know he's kinda funny about his things," she asked.

"No, are you gonna spread rumors about that too?" Greg said.

"Look, Greg I was joking, I'm sorry, I didn't know everyone was giving you shit, too," she said.

"I don't know, maybe they are right. I mean what kind of relationship can you have with someone like that?" he said sounding defeated.

"So, that's it? You get teased by a few of your co-workers and you're thinking about giving up," she said sitting next to him.

"Maybe, no. I'm just really mad, and I don't know why I'm so mad,"he said looking down.

"You are a good kid and you care about others. You wanna help this guy and I think you getting feelings for him as well," she said.

"Yeah, but" he started.

"Did you have any yeah buts when you were talking about him to me all night or to Sara?" she asked.

"No, not really I guess I didn't think about it much. I was just kinda"

"Caught up in the moment," she said.

"Yeah," he said.

"Then go with it, who cares what anyone else thinks or says? So what if he doesn't leave the house? You can do a lot of things together," she said.

"You think so?" he asked.

"He could be the love of your life or he could not me but you won't know if you give up because people around here don't have much of a life," she said. "Or he could be your best friend, you could turn his whole life around, you could set him free. Do you really wanna miss out on all that could be because of what someone said?"

"No, I don't," Greg said smiling.

"Good, that's the Greg I like to see," Catherine said. "Don't let them get you down," she said.

"Thanks, Catherine," Greg said, standing up.

"Oh, what did you do to your hand?" she asked.

"Oh, that, I got in a fight with a tree and I lost," he said looking at it.

"Now, cheer up, that's an order," she said.

"I'm so confused, I never know who my boss is," Greg said.

"We both are but I really am the boss and don't you forget it," she said, pulling him in for a hug.

He pulled away.

"Now, get out of Gil's office before he comes back," she said.

"Yes, boss," he said walking out.

*Greg's house*

Nick sat on the couch.

"Kitty, there is nothing on TV," he said, pushing the cat off his lap. She jumped back up and tried to get back on.

"Now, now, kitty, I'm gonna play on my computer and I'm not like your daddy, you can't sit on my keyboard," Nick said logging on. He checked his emails.

"My groups sent me 130 emails, kitty. I better get to typing," he said. He scrolled down stopping at one from his dad.

"Oh, here's a panic attack waiting to happen," he said deleting it. "Not in the mood for you." He noticed one from his sister. He opened it.

"She's worried cause I haven't answered my phone, Kitty. Your so lucky you're not a human," he said.

"Well, I've got some work to do," he said popping his knuckles and stretching.

"Ok, now see I'm not your daddy, you can't sit on my keyboard. No, you get down," Nick said removing the cat for a 3rd time. "Ok, that's fine sit on my lap, ouch no claws," he said. He scrolled up and started to reply to all the emails he'd gotten.

"You have a very loud purr box," Nick said as he typed. "It's going to be a long night.
