Week 10 - Lots of stuff to talk about this week. We had our first ultrasound on the 22nd and were able to actually kinda sorta able to see the baby. After some extensive prodding an image displayed itself on the ultrasound moniter. "That is your child" said the NP. Well geez its spinning like a top!!! I knew the baby would be moving and checking out its capapbilities in the uterus from what ive read but damn!!! Spinning and flipping like crazy. Not a very good picture of the baby. Kind of fuzzy and zero definition. You can view the ultrasound photo in the pictures section. Well the most interesting piece of news from that trip was the issue of the babies size. It apears that the baby is considerably smaller than the uterus. One of the biggest things that that particular piece of info suggests is, get his, TWINS!!! Talk about freak out!! Well needless to say the doctors at U.C. Davis were reletively blase about the possibility and set our next appointment for 5 and a half weeks later. I dont know about you but id like to know if im having twins or not a whole heck of a lot sooner than 5 and a hal weeks!!! One of our co-workers has a ultrasound from Sutter that distinctly shows the baby and all its limbs. So we switched doctors and hospitals to Sutter. Our next appointment is Aug 12 and we are going to get the wand ultrasound to see not only a better image of the baby (oh god or babies) but to also see how many of the little buggers are floatin around in there. Another reason we dont know how many there are is becasue the NP was unable to find the heartbeat with her sonar listening device. (easy tiger we saw the heartbeat on the ultrasound just couldnt hear it) Now to the good news. For some reason we are super lucky, because we chose the particular doctor we did (off Sutter site doctor) she has the new3-d ultrasound machine!!!!! So when we get the big ultrasound dont at about 20 weeks well actually be able to "see" our baby!!! From what i understand the image displayed turns out to be identical to what the baby looks like on exit from the womb!!!! Welkl know what it looks like!!!! And we get a video of the whole procedure that will of course be uploaded to the website for all to see!!! Thats all for now. Keep looking every monday for updates on this wild and crazy thing called pregnancy :)
Week 11 - Week eleven was well , pretty normal. Other than the move to the new place nothing much happened. I do want to thank scott dad and uncle roger for the assistance i was sore as heck the next day so coulnt imagine what id be like without their aid!!!! thanks guys!!!
Week 12 - Week 12 was another realtively inactive week. Shannons back has started to act up pretty bad but most of the other bad sysmptoms shes had are winding down thankfully. The new place is looking better as we unpack more and more stuff and put them in their places. going to the new doctor on the 12th so we should be able to see how many babies there are so thatll be stress off our minds. see ya next week
Week 13 - Week 13 was the big appointment to see if there are more than one baby inside. Thankfully we only heard one heartbeat and everything else seems normal according to the doctor for a single child. Yeah i got to hear the heartbeat!!! We are staying with UCDavis because of the facilities and the options during childbirth. The Sutter doctors were good but we were not happy with the location or the facilities. Our next appontment will be Aug 26. Hopefully we will be able to get a better ultrasound posted on the site. One that we will actually be able to see would be nice!!!
Week 14 and 15 - Sorry for the non updatication on my part ill include 14 in this update. Had our last appointment during week 14 and everything apears to be normal. Got to hear the heartbeat again, not as loud as last time but still really fun. We have our appointment set up for the big ultrasound on Sept 8 so youll all get a huge update and hopefully an updated (and significantly better) image of out little baby. Im crossing my fingers that the baby will be sitting in an opportune position to let you know what we are having. Shannon has been felling the baby move and has even felt the little babe kick!!!!! But the punk always seems to kick after i take my hand off of her belly. Must be amazing to be able to fell a small life moving independantly inside of you. All i have felt are small stirrings but im hoping to be able to feel my child move more as time goes on. More updates comin folx and cross your fingers for a great ultrasound. Helthy baby and sex comin up!!!!!
Week 16 and 17 - well week 16 found us in our ultra ultrasound!! pictures have been posted but i totally forgot to update over her. for shame!!!! well the baby looks wonderful and i must say that ultrasounds are friggin cool as heckely beckely!!! got to see the little one movin around and that was amazing. The baby is right on target as far as its age (18 weeks now) and due date (feb 16) and all the critical parts of the little one are in order. the sex was unable to be determined cause the baby is a punk. it was movin and shakin until she went to see what its sex was then he/she fell asleep and covered up the unmentionables! oh well the radiology dept wanted a redo for claritys sake cause it was so early for an ultrasound (17 weeks) so we should be able to find out more. week 17 was slow i still cant feel the baby. Yeah i am angry with the little one cause mom can feel it kick and london fell asleep on shannons belly and it kicked him in the head (thought that was funny!!!) so i am the only one in the house who hasnt felt the little life inside of her. :( more as stuff comes up!!!
Week 18 and 19 - Well a couple more weeks have dragged by and we have a couple of cool things happening on the homefront. I have finally been able to feel the baby move inside of Shannon!!!! I had my hands pressed into her absomen and the baby was pulling some hong kong fuey on my fingertips. Pretty amazing stuff. A small life inside of her wow!!! lol everything at home is going well (still dont get enough laundry done!!!) pretty much everything is put away and the house is looking much better. We have an appintment on the 18th of October for a 3d ultrasound!!!! Wooohoo not only do they gaurantee (99%) that theyll be able to tell you the sex of the baby (finally!!!) but well also get a 10 minute video and 2 8x10's showing us the wee little monster! According to the other pics weve seen well actually be able to "see" what the baby will look like!!!! We are as excited as you can get. London , with the assistance of a life jacket lol, is finally swimming in the pool without grabbing onto the side. Hopefully well get him swimming on his own before next summer. The fam is fine. More later bbfn.
