The following consists of your basic chat etiquette rules. Those chatting here at Greenwich Village are strongly urged to follow them, unless they have a strong desire to deal with the merciless wrath of either Regs or Daze.

Social Etiquette |
~*~ BE NICE. Obviously, our number one concern, is that everyone is having fun here at GV. All OOC (Out Of Character) arguments should be kept to a minimum at the most, -- refrain from them completely if at all possible, -- and all members should be respectful, and mindful of other's feelings. Disrespect and malevolence will not be tolerated.
~*~ Please keep OOC swearing to a minimum. This is a basic rule of the Union, people. I know it can be difficult, I swear quite a bit personally, but tapping in to that first rule, we need to be respectful of those who don't want to hear it. IC (In Character) swearing is a little different and somewhat more acceptable, but let's limit it to every once in a while, rather than every other word, mmkay?
~*~ Talk of a highly descriptive violent and/or sexually explicit nature, needs to be dealt with outside of the chat room. If your two little lovebirds want to go have fun somewhere, or one of your characters is getting brutally murdered, go them, but the rest of us don't want to hear about it. Hint at it, refer to it, whatever, we just don't want the details.
~*~ Tapping in once again to that first glorious rule, if someone feels uncomfortable with a certain topic being discussed IC, and you are asked to halt conversation about it, please do so. There are always other times, and other places.

GV Chat How-To's |
That's right folks! GV Is now really getting underway, with more members than ever before! However, because of this we need to work on getting everyone to use the same tactics in playing their characters. It's a whole lot easier to read and understand if everyone's doing the same thing. *winks and nods*
~*~ When speaking OOC, kindly use double parentheses. *knows most of us do already, but it's good to keep in mind*
Example: ((*waves* How are you guys doin'?))
~*~ When speaking IC, please please please use asterisks rather than double colons. It's obnoxious when you have both being used in chat, and frankly it just drives me nuts. *grins*
Correct Example: *laughs*
Incorrect Example: ::laughs::
~*~ When speaking IC, please do not repeat your character's name or use any other pronoun (he,she,they) as the first word inside of asterisks. It is completely unnecessary, and results in throwing the flow of your posts off. *shakes a finger* we don't like that, now do we? *shakes her head* no, we don't.
Correct Example: Jade - *rolls her eyes at and continues smoking*
Incorrect Example: Jade - *Jade rolls her eyes and continues smoking*
Incorrect Example: Jade - *She rolls her eyes and continues smoking*
~*~ Occasionally, Multichat can get cranky, and in that event we sometimes decide to chat through AIM. It can get confusing when different characters are being portrayed by the same person, and as colors help a huge amount, it isn't always the best option. To avoid confusion, stating the character in question's first name, the first letter of their name, or saying "love" before their name, is often recomended. *hugs brooklyn lots for touching on this particular subject*
Example: T: *plays a jig on his fiddle*
Example: Tobias: *plays a jig on his fiddle*
Example: Love Tobias: *plays a jig on his fiddle*
~*~ Always find out what house, and what room is being chatted in before throwing your character in to play. I don't think I need to explain why. It is advisable to keep in mind that answers may come either OOC or IC. Keep your eyes out.

Outside Characters and Visitors |
All Outside characters and visitors MUST be cleared with Regan before being brought in to play. There is no exception to this rule. If you in any way violate it, you will be caught, tarred, feathered, and strung up by your toes by yours truly.
