So, ya got a name?
*rakes her fingers through her long, mostly straight hair and goes about pulling it up into a loose knot* Yep. *watches her interviewer expectantly, obviously playing the part of a wiseass and waiting for the next question* *quirks a grin after a moment* It's Abra. A-B-R-A. Not as in "-cadabra", thank you. More like Abraham. Only without the ham. *nods seriously, but lets her eyes sparkle playfully*
*eyes you a bit warily* What's your real name?
*feigns offense at the look* That's it. Abra Venezia.
You got a nickname or anything?
Eh, no. *shakes her head and shifts to lean back in her seat* There's not much shortening to be done on "Abra", and I never got plastered with a clever nickname, other than occasionally being called by my last name.
*smirks a bit* How'd you get that one?
*blinks, then shrugs and grins* I blame my father? His last name was Venezia, too. *yes, is being a wiseass* *hopes it's not taken for disrespect: simply feels comfortable*
So how old are you, anyways?
*wrinkles her nose distastefully* Sixteen until March. I cannot wait for the big one-seven, lemme tell ya. I hear all this stuff about being "sweet sixteen," but may I say, while it may be an enchanting age for some, for me it is most definitely not. *lets her lips play with a grin, though, as she knows for certain her life's not been any worse than anyone else's, and is complaining more to make conversation than to actually complain*
Whaddaya look like? *receives a 'look' from you* Just answer the question...
*laughs* Okay. *salutes a bit, then glances around for a mirror* *finds a somewhat transparent version of her reflection in a window and eyes herself* Dark brown hair - not black. I like to say it's the color of... *pauses and tries to find a dramatic word* espresso. Or dark chocolate. Yum. *grins* *turns back to her interviewer* My eyes are generally pretty dark brown, too, unless I'm sick or the light's playing off them. Then they get to be kind of amber-ish. *waves that portion of the answer off with a flick of the hand* I'm not incredibly tall or short. 5'5". It's a good height, I'm fairly happy with my height. And I'm voluptuous. *says this with a deadpan expression, but once again the mischief in her eyes gives away the fact that she's most definitely teasing* Okay, okay, maybe not voluptuous. But not super skinny, either. *is, at least, very well-proportioned and at a pretty healthy weight for a street kid* I don't know how long my girlish figure'll last, though. *grins* I like to eat. I'm always nibbling on something. By the time I'm forty and have couple of kids I'll probably be out to here *holds her arms out a great deal on either side and laughs* *fortunately isn't in as much danger of gaining weight as she predicts*
*smiles* I'm assuming you have a personality...what's it like?
Ah, you haven't caught on by now? *smiles* *shrugs a bit* I guess I'm...well...loud's not the right word. I try not to get loud, because loud people tend to annoy me, and the least I can do is be considerate of other people like me. But I'm not shy. *is, obviously, pretty outgoing for the most part, and is very friendly and loyal to those who are her friends* *believes in ideals and justice and can be pretty outspoken and firm when expressing her convictions* *is very concerned about the emotional well-being of people in general, even those people she's not particularly fond of, but once she's been pushed too far she can be somewhat abrasive and harsh - only to regret it later*
Wanna tell us about your background? Please?
*laughs* Since you asked so nicely... *speaks with the hard, native New Yorker's working-class accent but without a lot of slang, denoting that she wasn't exactly raised on the streets* Juniper Valley, Queens, born and raised. For the most part, at least. Second generation immigrants, mother died when I was about six, father set me up at Middle Village Mission shortly thereafter, and I was there until last year. I think I must have learned everything they had to teach me, because they more or less gave me the option of going to live with my brother David or staying and working there. Which means I would eventually morph into some kind of nun or something, and, well, I like looking at boys entirely too much. *laughs* *is nothing if she's not honest* My father passed away while I was at the mission - work related death, he was in construction - so when I left, I went to live with my brother for a while. He's a good guy, but he's kind of...strict. He takes his older brother responsibilities very seriously, mind you. I'm not saying I'm not appreciative, but I'm getting older now, so it's time we both get our own lives, you know? So I'm here. He newsie-ed in Queens for a while and more or less suggested I give it a try, since I was itching to be independent or whatever. *nods a little* So nothing too sordid, nothing exciting, really. I know a few important people around town, though. *pauses, then confesses* And I like to brag about it. *laughs*
*nods* M-hm. I see. *smiles* Got any friends or relatives?
*nods some* I mentioned my brother. He's it, as far as immediate family goes. I think we have some people back in Italy, great-aunts or whatnot, but I don't know them. And friends? Yeah, I've got some. Nobody around here, yet. *gets a little more sincere and serious* I hope that'll change soon. *smiles*
What about a special someone? *winks and grins*
*laughs* Oh, I've had a hundred crushes, but no, nobody special.
Anything else you wanna let us know about? Special talents, pet peeves.. ?
*brightens and tries to look proud of herself* I love the piano. Well, playing the piano. I don't have any special feelings toward any one piano in particular... *laughs* I can't sing very well at all, but if you need an accompanist, I'm your girl.
