The Green Party does not solicit nor do we accept donations from corporations. The Party is fully committed to grass-roots, citizens-based activism. The interest we seek to advance is the common interest. Even if you cannot contribute directly by volunteering or otherwise becoming an active member, consider making a donation to the Party. You can be sure any funds donated will be put to very good use.

A Special Appeal to Greens and Green Party Supporters

As many of you are aware, Congressman Rob Andrews of the 1st Congressional district in NJ has not done a stellar job representing the interests of the people of South Jersey. Rather, he has represented his corporate paymasters. In fact, Andrews has voted for the following bills, in lockstep with George Bush:

• Authorization for the military invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan
  
• Military Commissions Act
  
• Patriot Act
  
• Bankruptcy Bill
  
• No Child Left Behind
  
• Continually votes for war funding, despite widespread opposition
  
• Refuses to support impeachment and HR 676 (Single Payer Health Insurance System), despite widespread support.
  

Andrews has a safe seat, usually with no opposition from any political party. This year is different. Not only is there a candidate who has stepped up to challenge Rob Andrews, but that candidate is a progressive activist from our community who will represent our interests and fight for the issues that we care about.

Mahdi Ibn-Ziyad, a teacher and adjunct college professor is running for Congress, challenging Andrews in the democratic primary election in the 1st Congressional District. Although he is not running as a Green, he represents the same values that we stand for and he has been a strong advocate in the Camden community for social change, peace and justice.

I am writing to you to ask you to support Dr. Ziyad's campaign. A donation of $30 will greatly assist the campaign to achieve our goals, and in return you will get a ticket to an event which will feature a cash bar, a jazz band, and a chance to personally meet Dr. Ziyad. Rob Andrews has over $2 million. Dr. Ziyad needs the support of the community to sucessfully challenge Rob Andrews. $30 is a small investment to possibly change the way politics is done in Washington DC and here in South Jersey.
