The 2007 Kickoff is this Saturday!
10 September 2007----Despite the heat, the Green Road Eagles have been working very hard, and the coaches and I are very proud of the progress that all of the kids have made, since we started. Slowly, but surely, we've developed into a team, and it's all going to play out this coming Saturday, when the Eagles open the 2007 Season against what is always a very good Vikings team.
Some things that parents need to know:
If you haven't already bought them, you'll need your black pants for the game Saturday.
Same thing with the green socks. Even soccer-style socks will suffice, as long as they're kelly green.
It would be wise to pick up an extra mouthpiece for game days, since they will be unable to play if they lose it.
Ensure all padding is in the game pants, and that your child is wearing an athletic supporter.
Saturday's game begins at 11:30am. PLEASE BE THERE ONE HOUR EARLY, as we need to get everyone stretched and weighed in! This is imperative!
Win, lose or draw on Saturday, we have a tradition of making a "human tunnel" on the field for the kids to run through after they've shaken hands. Please come out on the field and support your Eagles!
Other items: I have the new helmet decals on order. We will put them on the helmets during the practice on Thursday, 20 September. (Due to heavy orders, the company was unable to get them to us for the first game.) Please peel the old Eagle decals off of the helmets (use a hair dryer to help loosen them, if necessary) and scrub them down to get them as white as possible. Don't peel them off before Saturday's game! Leave them on.
Also, I will pick up the game jerseys from the t-shirt shop on Friday, and give them out after practice on Friday night. Numbers were randomly assigned, as the sizes weren't matched to the numbers. Odd, I know.
As always, let's have lots of family support at the games! It means the world to the kids to see you all supporting them from the stands! Be loud and proud of your Eagles!
