1st Half Dooms Eagles in Loss to Cowboys

September 24, 2005---When your team is struggling during the year, it's important to get off to a great start whenever you play a game. Unfortunately, the Cowboys scored on the opening kickoff, putting the Eagles into an instant 6-0 hole.

The Eagles' first half wasn't very efficient offensively, as the Eagles failed to put up any points, and had trouble moving the ball, gaining only 3 first downs. The Cowboys didn't do anything special on offense, but managed to get 2 more scores before the half, giving the Eagles a 19-0 halftime deficit to overcome.

The Eagles opened up the second half with some nice offensive efficiency, going on a long drive down to the Cowboy's 10 yard line. The drive was highlighted by a great halfback pass by Timarcus Simpson to Joey Moore. The play covered almost 20 yards. The drive would be stalled by a missed 4th and short conversion.

Neither team would manage to score in the 2nd half. Kudos to the Eagles' defense for really stepping it up at the half to shut the Cowboy offense down, allowing no points. We're making strides here and there, and I think the defensive adjustment was exactly the combination that we've been looking for. It should benefit us when conference play begins!

Our next game begins conference play. These are the games that count in the standings, so it's important that we represent ourselves well! Our game has been moved from Saturday, 1 October to Sunday, 2 October at 3:45pm. Please have your child at the field no later than 2:45pm! I think we're going to do much better in conference play, even though it would appear that we're in the toughest division. Go Eagles!
