Eagles Continue to stay hot with 27-0 Victory Over Cowboys
September 23, 2006---The Eagles started hot and stayed hot in a solid victory over the Cowboys.
The Cowboys' defense kept the Eagle offense in check during the first drive of the game, but Tonye Bandini finally broke through with an awesome 20-yard dash into the endzone to make the score 7-0 in the first quarter. After a 3 and out by the Cowboys, the Eagles took over again with another long, impressive drive...finishing with yet another touchdown run of 28 yards by Tonye.
In the second quarter, the Eagles managed to score one more touchdown by Kyle Chavis, padding the lead at 21-0 at the half.
The Cowboys kicked off to start the second half, and Sam McNair had a beautiful 55 yard return for a touchdown. The Eagles took a knee on the point after attempt in order to signal our goodwill toward the Cowboys. I didn't see the need to add any more to the score, at that point. The referees, however, saw it differently by flagging us for an unsportsmanlike penatly. They interpreted us taking a knee as us wanting to stay below the 28-point slaughter rule in order to run up the score again. This has since been straightened out, but it's disturbing that our intentions were wrongly assumed.
The Eagles were shut out for the rest of the second half by an improving Cowboys defense. All of our hard work paid off in the first half, and everyone played an OUTSTANDING game. Up next are the Redskins, who have come a long way since the last time we played them. I know it'll be a good game! Go Eagles!
