Eagles Finish 2004 Season at 6-1, with 25-0 Pasting of the Redskins!
November 6, 2004---I can�t think of a better way to close out a season, then with an Eagle trademark shutout! The 2004 season ended on a very positive note, with the team displaying the �one-team� ideal that has carried them throughout.
Talk about balance! The four touchdowns scored were by 4 different players! And that Eagle �D� certainly came to play, allowing the Redskins to gain NO first downs during the entire game.
The Eagles won the toss and elected to receive. 3 plays later, we were in the endzone on a Markuis Baltimore run from the 15-yard line. A 1-point conversion made the score 7-0. After a Redskins 3-and-out, the Eagles got a bit sloppy, dropping a quick pass to the right, which the Redskins recovered. It made no difference, as they quickly ended up punting.
In the second quarter, a nice run by Maurice Jones gave the Eagles a 13-0 cushion going into the half.
The 3rd quarter saw Rashon Pickett run an end-around into the endzone to make the score 19-0, while the Eagles� defense continued to pound the Redskins into negative yards, often hitting them far behind the line of scrimmage.
The 4th quarter was a wash, with the Eagles closing out the scoring fest with a hard-nosed run up the middle by Timarcus Simpson. This was his first touchdown of the year, but I know it won�t be his last! That made the score 25-0, which means the referees immediately signaled for the �slaughter rule.�
While we scored some points, the big story of this game was (again!) the Defense. Led by Kendall Miles, Keith Wilson, A.J. Lyles, Corey Smith, Davis Dean and SO many more�they were the reason we were so successful this year! It was a GREAT way to close out the season, and the coaches and parents were very proud!
