RANDOM FACTS...
Album Facts:

One reason there was such a long break between Nimrod and Warning was because Billie Joe was at a rocky point in his marriage and needed to spend time at home.
Dookie's original title was Liquid Dookie, but they changed it because they thought it was too gross.
Dookie means shit.

The album Insomniac is called with that name because Billie Joe didn't sleep at night. His son (Joey) cried all night, so Billie would write a lot of songs. Another way it is said that they got the name for Insomniac I s that when Billie Joe came to Winston Smith the guy who made the cover for it to see what it was like Billie Joe thought that it was really cool and he asked Winston Smith how long it took him to do it and he said about 36 hours and Billie Joe said "man you must have been tired " and Winston Smith said "to really I'm kind of an Insomniac".
Five of Green Day's mainstream albums all begin with drums
On the Insomniac cover, there are three skulls which are supposed to be the 3 skulls of the 3 members of Green Day, and in order to see the third one you have to look in the flames and hold the paper at an angle in order to see it properly This technique was used back in the Renaissance.
The vocals and backup vocals on 1,039/SOSH were recorded simultaneously to cut costs
1,039/SOSH cost $600 to record
Nimrod cost $100,000 to record
The Longview video only cost $300 to make
The Walking contradiction video cost $300,000 to make >

Most of the songs on 1,039/SOSH were done in one take
Nimrod was supposed to contain a song written by Tre, called "D.U.I.". The record company thought the lyrics were to vulgar though, the song was then intended to appear on Shenanigans but the record company demanded it was removed... on the booklet for the album it has been sprayed over with a spraypaint can, but you can just about read the words "DUI", it now only appears on the Japanese version of Shenanigans and is about drunk driving.
Insomniac was originally called "Tightwad Hill"
Nimrod means something like "great hunter"
In the bible there is a guy named Nimrod (Genesis, chapter 10)
The bands first to albums from Lookout Records (39/Smooth, Kerplunk) have sold over 500,000 copies each. Worldwide, Dookie has sold 12 million (8 million in North America) and Insomniac has sold 8 million (4 million in North America). So far Nimrod has sold close to 2 million copies, not too sure about Warning or any recent albums though
Nimrod, Billie explains, "There's this guy named Nimrod in the Bible who tried to fool God in Babylon, or something like that," Armstrong said. "It fits. We're kind of moronic."

There were 6 songs written while BJ, Mike, and John were called Sweet Children, but only 4 are on the Skene! Sweet Children EP:
 Sweet Children
 Best Thing in Town
 Strangeland
 My Generation
The only Sweet Children EP that exists is the one on black vinyl from Skene! Records. It is no longer in print. The Flipside "Big One" compilation is still in print. The songs from that EP appear at the end of the Kerplunk CD.

Laurie L.'s story is purely fiction - in fact, "Laurie L" is a homage to "Larry Livermore". The author wrote the story for Tales from Blarg!, a punk 'zine.
