The mission for the Greendale Taxpayers Group for our schools is to eliminate wasteful  spending while maintaining quality education in our schools.
Do you think our School District is spending too much?
Here are some facts to help you decide (2005 data).

1.) Greendale School District is the highest spender on schools in Milwaukee county.
The District spends $13.13 per $1,000 of property value, 36% above the Milwaukee County average of $9.62

2.) Greendale School District is the second highest in the state on school spending.

3.) Teacher Compensation:  According to (WASB) Wisconsin Association of School Boards database, the total teacher compensation for Greendale is $86,972 for the 2004/2005 school year.  This is the second highest in the state, falling behind Port Washington/ Saukville district by only $161 per year.

4.) School Health Care Plan:  The plan costs $17,000 a year per teacher.  The taxpayers pay $15,000 toward each teacher.  The remaining $2,000 is paid by each teacher.

5.)  Retirement Bonuses:  Last year Greendale taxpayers paid out $700,000 for 10 retiring teachers ($70,000 each ).  Greendale teachers also have a pension beside this bonus give-away.  Other districts get a pension, but do not have this expensive bonus.

6.)  Pension Debt:  Greendale owes $5.5 million to the state for pension debt, since the 1980's.  The school board has not been authorizing payment on the debt principle, but only on the interest.  Only recently (August 2005) has the school board decided to pay toward the debt principle ($500,000 this year).
