Dragons narrowly miss
upsetting favourites by 3 points in epic
Nothing was left
out on the field by the girls on Sunday afternoon, despite coming up
short by a mere 3 points. Surprisingly composed in their first
ever grand final appearance, the Dragons came out strongly scoring
the first goal of the game in seconds, leaving the Eagles on the
back foot for much of the day. From that point onwards, every
mark, kick and run by the Eagles was earned, and every contest met
by a determined Dragons guernsey. However, true to form, a
last quarter goal proved why the Eagles are the champion team they
are, as they jumped to the lead. Never giving up all day, the
Dragons fought to the very end, even at times being provided with an
opportunity or two to stage an upset, but it was not to be.
Though a loss on paper, not a head was dropped afterwards - it was
only a stepping stone to something greater. |

Dragons hammer home
Roos at Kilburn
With Cath McCrae, Suzie Dixon and
Renea Dearman fore fronting a tireless Dragon defence Sunday, the
trio were instrumental in handing defeat to the Roos. While
Mel Ruchs tore up the roos ruck, Whiley & Lee were creative in front
of goals. All round great team effort. |

Nearly a win at home
against the Eagles
In an amazing performance at home,
the Dragons came their closest to matching it with the leagues
undoubted leaders. Even with several key players out, and no
ruck, the Dragons young guns showed plenty of fight and ability
around the ground. Bec Daniels stepped up in the ruck, for her
first time. |

From time to time there are players around the club,
that do much more than just pay their fees and get a kick. There are some
players who are involved off field who add just that little bit more to help
make the club successful.
