Now, these koans are really where it's at. A koan is a Zen parable designed to show the futility of speech to achieve enlightenment. My own koans do not aim in exactly this direction, but they do seem to defy any sort of large-scale order or logic (though there is usually a fairly strong internal order). Essentially, each koan is an exploration of some non sequitor notion that popped into my head one day. Rather than express any particular idea or emotion, the koans are more like small roadmaps of my mind.
