Sarah Eliza Gray was born on December 2, 1828 in the Parish of Saint Andrew Auckland, Newcastle, Durham, England. While still a child, Sarah's family moved from England to Galveston, Texas. Sarah married William Mansell Power, son of John Power, on September 8, 1859 in the Trinity Church in Galveston, Texas. William Power was also born in England, around 1826. William Mansell Power had a brother, Charles Power, who also came from England to Texas. Charles married Antoinette Emily Lea. Antoinette's sister was Margaret Moffet Lea, who was the wife of the famous Sam Houston. Therefore, William Mansell Power was the brother, of the brother-in-law of Sam Houston. Sam Houston's titles include: Congressman, Governor, Commander-in-Chief, Major General of the Army of the Republic of Texas, President of the Republic of Texas, etc.
William Mansell Power died on May 18, 1880 at the age of 54. Sarah Eliza Gray died on December 30, 1898 in Luling, Texas at the age of 70.
