When All's Said and Done

She watches him, without expression
Her smile's been hidden so long
Her memory drifts back, to when they first met
And she wonders why it went wrong

Her eyes feel sore from crying so much
But she's finished with all that now
What's important again, will soon become clear
If the fullness of time allows

The waves lap her toes, and tickle her feet
And the smile returns to her face
The talking's been done, bags are all packed
It's time they both left this place

When all's said and done, the holiday was fun
And it gave them both time to think
The reality dawned and pulled them back
Just back enough from the brink

They need to be strong and keep holding on
To all that is good for a while
Let time be the healer and pull them on further
As they push on that extra mile
