Grant's Blog

Did you like the "hit and run" game I played last week? Hope so. Let's get back to the real stuff this week. There are some fun things going on.

Another one bites the dust

I hit on this guy a little bit last week if you will remember. He was upset with McCain's reference to Cubans torturing him while he was in the Hanoi Hilton for five years.
Fidel Castro retires; By Anthony Boadle; Feb 19, 2008; Yahoonews.com
You have to wonder if this guy is still breathing or they have him propped up into a chair, strapped upright with a couple of toothpicks under his eyelids.
Ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro said on Tuesday that he will not return to lead the communist country, retiring as president 49 years after he seized power in a revolution and became a central figure of the Cold War.
Probably aided by a prerecorded message, but nonetheless his message got relayed to all the good liberal media moguls.
Castro, 81, who has not appeared in public since undergoing stomach surgery almost 19 months ago, said he would not seek a new term as president or leader of Cuba's armed forces when the National Assembly meets on Sunday.
After 19 months of being propped in a chair he makes an announcement that he is not going to seek another term. I think even Cuban dictatortial thugs have a requirement that the leader must be able to take a breath at least once a week.
"To my dear compatriots, who gave me the immense honor in recent days of electing me a member of parliament ... "
You have to wonder whether that election was accompanied with a Glock in the back of the head.
The charismatic Castro led the bearded and cigar-chomping guerrillas who swept down from the mountains of eastern Cuba to overthrow U.S.-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista in 1959.

He then turned Cuba into a communist state on the doorstep of the United States and became the world's longest-serving head of state, barring monarchs.
How awful!! The murderous commie has to face reality. The only real things that linger before anyone are death and taxes. Wonder if Fido will be around till April 15th. He can't escape those dues for sure.

This is going to be something to behold.

As we approach the end of the primaries we see the emergence of a cat fight, even if only one is a cat.
McCain Rips 'Eloquent But Empty' Obama; February 19, 2008; ABCnews.com
I had emailed a friend of mine and stated the exact same thing, "Obama says nothing very eloquently".
"I will work hard to make sure Americans aren't deceived by an eloquent but empty call for change," said McCain.

The presumed Republican nominee also knocked his likely Democratic opponent by taking a shot at the "confused leadership of an inexperienced candidate."
And in typical democrat liberal fashion, Obama counters with the standard lines:
"John McCain's remarks tonight shows why he's offering nothing more than a third term of George Bush's policies -- more fear-mongering, more than a century of war in Iraq, and more budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthiest few at the expense of hardworking Americans," said Obama campaign spokesperson Bill Burton.
Problem is, McCain didn't vote for tax cuts, however his support for the war in Iraq has been admirable. Too bad Obama doesn't understand that the war in Iraq has/is going fabulously well.
Speaking Monday in Milwaukee, Wisc., Michelle Obama said, "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country . . . not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change."
You have to wonder whether Michelle has been living in Africa, if it is only now she is proud of her country. She/He have done very well in such a horrible country.

Let's look at this for a minute. I am not a McCain supporter, never have been one. But, looking at Obama and Hillary worries me a great deal. Obama has been in the senate 2 years and has spent more than half that time running for president. He is so woefully inept. Hillary's experience consists of being first lady for 8 years. Scarey stuff, but the most scarey thing of all, both are committed socialists.

I have said I wouldn't vote for McCain, but I may have to rethink that, I can't in good conscience vote for a socialist either. And, Obama is truly a socialist of the highest order.

Is it over for the Broomer?

Things look pretty bleak for ol' Broom Hillary. She now needs to win 57% of the remaining primary votes. In states like Mississippi and North Carolina it will be really difficult.
Top Clinton Adviser Says Superdelegates Will Decide Election, Obama's Victories 'Irrelevant'; by FOXNews.com; February 16, 2008
If you look at the headline here, you will soon realize what she is holding for hole cards.
A top Hillary Clinton adviser on Saturday boldly predicted his candidate would lock down the nomination before the August convention by definitively winning over party insiders and officials known as superdelegates, claiming the number of state elections won by rival Barack Obama would be "irrelevant" to their decision.
Right now, that's all she has left. Obama has creamed her everywhere. So now the real question question is how? How can she steal those "super delegates"?
Superdelegates get campaign cash; by Foon Rhee; February 14, 2008

Many of the superdelegates who could well decide the Democratic presidential nominee have already been plied with campaign contributions by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, a new study shows.

"While it would be unseemly for the candidates to hand out thousands of dollars to primary voters, or to the delegates pledged to represent the will of those voters, elected officials serving as superdelegates have received about $890,000 from Obama and Clinton in the form of campaign contributions over the last three years," the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics reported today.
Well that could be the how. Don't count her and the super Willie out, they will spend the money if that is what it takes.

So what is her last hole card?
Clinton Aide Changes Mich., Fla. Stance; Feb 16, 2008; By HOPE YEN

Harold Ickes, a top adviser to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign who voted for Democratic Party rules that stripped Michigan and Florida of their delegates, now is arguing against the very penalty he helped pass.
Will they do this? You can bet your sweet donkey they will if that is what it takes. How can they do that Eye? There are rules, you know. Rules? For the Clintons? You've got to be kidding. You must be for Obama. Only he could be that naive.
