Cemetery Description
The cemetery, containing around 100 stones, is located in Halifax, Pennsylvania
(about a half-hour north of Harrisburg). While traveling north on Rt. 225,
roughly a mile past Peter's Mountain, you'll see the Matamoras Community
Church on your right. The front of the building is very tall and slopes
downward toward the back. About 200 yards past the church, take a right
turn onto Matamoras Road. If traveling south, Matamoras Road is less than a
half-mile past the turn-off for Rt. 147. There are two signs for Camp
Hebron on Rt. 225. The northmost sign is at Matamoras Road. After turning,
the cemetery will be 100 yards down the road to your left.
The stones in the cemetery are very old, mostly from the 18th and
19th centuries. The headstones were in bad repair, and to my
knowledge, no records had been kept of the information. Whether due to
natural causes or vandalism, the stones have often been knocked over in the
cemetery, and a new plan for action was needed. Enter my Eagle Scout
project! :)

Note: I apologize for the appearance of the site if your are using Netscape; some
of the aesthetics might not line up perfectly. All of the information
should still be there, however. Netscape wouldn't install correctly on my
computer, so I couldn't check it while I was designing the site. :(
