Basketball, Barbecue and Visit in October 2005

The two main highlights in October were the basketball competition on October 1 and the voluntary work on October 15 & 22. Firstly, the sports ground of Tak Sun School was used for the competition attended by around 30 students and around 10 adults some of whom were tutors of the Little Sprouts. 5 teams were formed and had a round robin. The best part of the whole event was the barbecue at the end of the games. Thanks to some of the tutors who volunteered to buy the barbecue stuffs from the supermarket, all of us enjoyed so much the food, as well as the talking and joking. Secondly, we did two voluntary work in October. The place we went to in Sham Shiu Po was, as before, the centre for homeless people. In those two occasions, the students who came with us spoke with a total of 4 old persons. One of them was working in the US as a baker for many years, but he lost his job and had to return to Hong Kong and had no place to stay. Another one was sick of a severe case of asthma. We saw him wearing a Rosary around his neck and asked him if he knew how to pray it to which he replied no as the person who had given it to him recently did not teach him. So, we were glad to have this chance to teach him. The youngest volunteer was Timothy Leung who is just in Primary 6. Timothy enjoyed it so much, especially the part when they had to distribute rice and dessert to the poor people during lunch.
