| Media: CD Artist: Korn Producer: Michael Beinhorn Title: Untouchables Release date: June 12 2002 Review: Korn pushed this album back further and further, frustrating me and most of their fans, but it's FINALLY here, and it was worth the wait!! Untouchables truly is a step forward for Korn. Korn has promised a heavy album that had the same vib as their self titled. They also promised that this will be their best work yet with superior sound compared to any other album out there. Korn (as always) delivered these promises with some extra BAM! to it. Untouchables is a very heavy album with some slow grooves much like their debuit self titled. But unlike their first album, Jon sings very melodically in songs such as 'Alone I break', or 'Hollow life'. Alot of people have came up to me and asked "Hey, is that really Jon singing?" the answer is yes. Jon sounds very differnt in many of the songs, his voice has obviously matured and grown in this album and in my opinion, he's now a better singer (yeah, he can actually get better...wow). Some of you maybe thinking to your self "oh no, Jon's gone soft with all the melody!" Dont worry! like I said before, this is a HEAVY album. Songs like 'Here to stay', Beat up right' 'Wake up hate' and 'Hateing' Sticks to one heavy straight beat through the whole song and keeps your head banging. Some songs are so heavy it reminds me of hard industrial rock bands such as Static X, or Fear Factory. Untouchables is an exellant album, but not with out it's flaws. Some of the songs sound kind of the same as the others, which makes the album repetitive over time. Untouchables also has the same flaw as Issues that many complained about. It relies heavly on effects, and guitar pedals. This makes gives the album a thechnoish feel to it, which alot of Korn fans do not want. Also, Korn are starting to lose their signature sounds. Jon did'nt do any of his "noises" (You know....the sounds he makes with his voice in twist, or the bridge of Freak on a Leash), The bag pipes didnt make an apperance, and David's drumming seem to have changed (but that might be due to his recent wrist injury that he just got over). Untouchables is a great album all the way, dispit the minor flaws, they are easily over looked by its aggressive new sound. Every Korn fan should get this, they wont be disipointed. This Album Gets: 5 out of 5 super stars! |
| Media: CD Artist: Linkin Park Producer: Don Gilmore Title: Reanimation Release date: ?? Review: Remix album.... what dose that bring to mind?? Peice of shit cds such as Limp Bizkit's "new old songs" or the Gorillaz "Space monkeys Vs. Gorillaz"?? or how about the ever so legendary peice of trash "Reconstruction" by Bush. This is not the case for Linkin Park's "reanimation"! Reanimation features 20 songs which is almost twice the original Hybrid Theory, and some really kool art work within the booklet. All the remixs are good, though some are better then others. If you previously thought Linkin park was to Hip Hop, or too techno, you might as well forget this, because reanimation is even more hip hop, along with a full barraige of assorted techno beeps, buzz, and zaps. But for those who can stand such things, or even enjoy it Reanimation is for you! Many of the remixes have compltly changed the original songs, leaving only the lyrics intact. While some remixes may sound fimiliar to the original, but the lyrics have changed. Hip hop fans will enjoy the added rap, while rock fans will enjoy some of the new guitars. Meny of the new songs are very well done and you may wonder why would Linkin Park put them on a remix album, rather then to save them for a new one. Some of the new songs would feature mostly rap with hip hop beats, while some would feature some rocking guitar riffs along with melodic vocals. Reanimation is probubly the best remix album i've ever heard, but thats not sayin much seeing i've never really heard a good remix albums untill this one. Give reanimation a shot, it's worth your time This Album Gets: 3 out of 5 super stars! |
