| Movie: Spider-Man Directed by: Sam Raimi Staring: Tobey Maguire, Kristen Dunst, Willem Dafoe, James Franco, J.K. Simmons Release Date: May 3rd 2002 Review: After years and years of nagotiations, and law battles, Spider Man finally makes it into the big screan. For people / morons who dont know who or what Spider man is, he is a comic book super hero with the powers of (you'll never guess) a spider! He has super strength, the ability to climb walls, shot webs, has the reflexes of a spider, and dont forget his spider sence (which warns spider man of approaching danger). Let me just say, this movie is exellent in more then one way. The movie was true to the comic, and then some. The movie tells a very similar origin story about Spider Mans as the comic, but tweeked just a little to add some realisim to it. In the comic Peter Parker gets bitten by a spider which fell into some gamma rays during an experiment. How did the spider survive a ratiation blast?? How oftian do people let high school photographers into a live radiation experiment? The movie fixes these unrealistic problems. Instead of a radioactive spider that bites Peter Parker it is a genetically altered spider which dose the trick. The movie is also pack full of spidy action! Alot of people (I for one) went to the movie just to see how they made a high swinging Spider man perform the same tricks and manuvers as the comic book. You wont be disipointed! Spider man moves just like the comic, every single action seems as though the directors had taken it right from the comic book. the stunts and animation are incredible, fast. sleek, and most importantly, spider like! All in all, if you miss out on this years most popular movie your definitly losing big time. its worth seeing it more then once, and obviously i recommend this to every one of all ages. | Movie: 28 Days Later Directed by: Danny Boyle Staring: Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Megan Burns, Christopher Eccleston, Brendan Gleeson Release Date: Jun 27th 2003 Review: 28 days later is a horror movie done right in almost every aspect. From the director of "Trainspotting", comes a scary as hell zombie thriller that keeps you guessing . It takes place in london where a highly contagious virus called "rage" infects the entire public, turning them into vicious man eating zombies. 28 days later, Our hero Jim (Cillian Murphy), wakes up in a hospital only to discover that there is no one around. As he step out side he realize some thing is horribly wrong, like the hospital, the streets of London are completely empty. He wanders the city lost and confused, then finds a newspaper reporting an evacuation due to the rage virus. As he wander some more he encounter a horde of rage infected people. As Jim runs for his life, he finds other survivors who help him escape what could of been his untimely demise. As the story progresses, they receive a radio broadcast from an army base, promising salvation and a cure for the infected. Will our heroes make it to the army base? And if so, what dangers await them there? The movie's story is ever evolving, and keeps you guessing. it is'nt cheesy like most horrors, and it keeps things realistic and serious. The story touches on some very real issues, such as plagues like AIDs, or SARs, It also touches on the mentality of surviving under extreme conditions, it touches on the brutality of human society today, and it even touches on the issue of rape. Besides scaring the shit out of you, it also makes you think of the real world and how much it is'nt that different from the world in 28 days later. "here's what i see in the past 4 months. people, killing people. Which is the same as what I have seen in the 4 months before that, and the 4 months before that, and the 4 months before that. Which in my mind is a state of normality now...people killing people" [a quote from the Captain of the army talking about states of normality before the infection]. With great qoutes like that, 28 days later dos'nt just entertain you, it makes you think. The acting in the movie is nothing less then superb. When victims run away from the attacking zombies, you can really see the fear on their faces, or when a person turn into a zombie, they twitch, ache, and scream so horrifying it'll make your spin tingle. Every movement from all the actors are believable, and the dialogue is just genius. 28 days later has some of the best acting I have ever seen. 28 days later is a master piece. It's scary, it's inspiring, and it's just damn entertaining. This Movie Gets: 5 out of 5 super stars |
