05/05/2006 - Mission Impossible 3 hits the UK
After 2 exciting but ultimately dissapointing Mission Impossible films, Tom Cruise
and co will be hoping that it will be a case of 'third time lucky' for Paramounts biggest
franchise. If anything the first 2 films were big financial successes and whilst the
new film will expect to match these figures, new director J. J. Abrams of TV's Lost
fame is hoping that a more emotional storyline will help compliment the action scenes
better than in the previous films
Initial impressions available in our previews section are favourable and the trailers
before the film's release have shown improved and exsilirating action sequences, much
done by Cruise himself. Only on closer inspection will we be able to see if the film is
able to gel these scenes with the quiter moments to form a more cohesive whole. Find out
in our review coming soon
Mission Impossible 3 is on general release today.
06/05/2006 - Simpsons movie finally confirmed!
Since becoming one of the worlds most watched television programmes over the past 15
years, it is perhaps strange to comprehend why it has taken so long for a film version
to come about.
Inspired by the success of the South Park film from a few years ago, news broke about the
film with the release of the teaser trailer in cinema releases such as Ice Age 2. The
trailer uses the new Superman film as its main inspiration but really only shows
everybody's faviourite slob, Homer slumming it in his pants and said T-shirt on the sofa.
Of course expect the whole family and indeed the majority of Springfield to join
improved production values to form one of the most exciting prospects of 2007. In the
meantime get yourself ready by watching the trailer here.
The Simpsons Movie is on general release on 27/07/2006.
06/05/2006 - Movie studios to stop supporting UMD
Movie studios are set to stop supporting Sony's UMD format, the movie format used on
the company's very own Playstation portable machine. Released in the US and UK a mere 7
months ago the PSP's main functionality is that of playing games but it was always
Sony's intention to position the device to watch 'movies on the move'. Despite good
results from the PSP's screen and a promising start at the machines launch, the format
has since lost its momentum.
It is unsuprising given the fact that a UMD release costs more than a DVD release and
does not benefit from the latters extra features. Coupled with the fact that you are
unable to watch UMD's on a TV and that using a PC with suitable people can convert
their DVD's to their PSP's memory stick, perhaps the UMD's fate was always sealed.
With the continuing poor sales, many of the large movie studios have decided that
enough is enough.
08/05/2006 - Jolie set to take the lead in Sin City 2

Anjelina Jolie is to take the lead in Sin City 2, the much anticipated sequel to one of
2005's most suprising success stories. The movie is to hold off production until she
is ready to return working so expect a late 2007 release
