| FIRST HOUSE |
| Mom and Dad worked and saved and finally after a lot of struggle and sacrifice, they were able to build their own house. And, the best part of it all, the house was going to be built on Honore St., 7028 S Honore. Construction on the house began in the spring of 1959. After what seemed like an eternity, we FINALLY moved in. |
| Our new house was great! Mom and Dad designed the house themselves and it was everything they always dreamed a house should be. There was four bedrooms, 2 downstairs and 2 huge bedrooms upstairs, 2 bathrooms, large walk-in closets, and a full basement just right for parties. |
| Dad was studying dilligently for the Lieutentant's exam and of couse, he passed with flying colors. But the best news of all was that after nearly 8 years, Mom was pregnant! On March 29, 1961 our little Bunny-girl was born. Charlene Ann Tortorello joined the family on the Wednesday before Easter Sunday |

| Dad enjoyed his role as a Lieutenant in the Fire Department. He went to work in the Fire Prevention Bureau. It was great because it meant no more nights at the fire house and he was home most weekends and holidays. In 1963, the family was blessed again. This time a bouncing baby boy joined the family. Joseph Michael Tortorello became the newest Tort on December 21, 1963. |

| Dad rose in the ranks of the Fire Department, Captain in 1966 and Battalion Chief in 1970. Their first grandchild, John Peter Nenadic was born on June 13, 1969. They now became "Nonny & Pa'" and fantastic grandparents. And after years of being a stay-at-home mom (the best!), Mom worked a part-time job at Nico-Zani Coiffures. She worked with her two neices, Sondra and Mary Ann and they had the time of the life! Mom and Dad bought a travel trailer with Mom's tip money and that was the beginning of a new hobby. The family enjoyed weekend trips to local campgrounds and more extended vacations. They travelled out to the Western USA, Florida at Christmas and a trip to Disney World.. |
