| Yusuke is a high school student from Sarasaki High who often make troubles in schools. He is often seen in school brawls. One day, he accidentally died trying to save a boy's life from being hit by a car. His spirit left his body and Botan, the diety of death, accompanied him to the rei kai or the spirit world to be judged by Koenma, the son of the Rei Kai God Enma Daioh. But since his death occurred untimely , Koenma decided to give him another chance to live. |
| He gave Yusuke an egg which he must take care of. That egg will be given life by Yusuke's deeds. If what he'll do is good deeds, the egg will hatch and it will become a good youkai, otherwise if he does the opposite, it will become a monster and will devour him. And so he was sent back to Ningenkai or the Human world with the egg. An unfortunate thing then happened. Their house was burned down with Yusuke's body still inside. Not wanting any harm to come over the lifeless body of Yusuke, Keiko (Jenny) rushed inside the house to save his body. Unfortunately Keiko was trapped inside the flaming house, and to save her, Yusuke used the egg given to him. It doesn't matter now if he won't be able to come back again, whats's important to him is to save Keiko. And so seeing all of this happened, Koenma who admired Yusuke's selfless act, now told him the truth that if he didn't use the egg, it will still grow into a monster and will devour him. Koenma then explained to Yusuke that within 24 hrs., he must be kissed by someone close to him or else his spirit will be forever trapped in the spirit world for 50 yrs. Well, I don't have to elaborate who kissed him. You get the picture. After that, he was assigned as a Rei Kai Tantei of the spirit world. And as the cliche' goes, "the rest is history"...... |
| Additional Infos on Yusuke: A major influence in Yusuke's life is his mentor and friend, Genkai. They first met during a tournament where they become allies. Genkai taught him how to use his power and increase his strength. Genkai died during a private match with Toguro, genkai's former friend and teammate in tournament. Because of her death, Yusuke's urge to defeat Toguro became more strong. And of course during their match, Yusuke defeated Toguro. The power of Genkai that was transferred to him before her death helped him much in defeating Toguro. Unknown to many and even to yusuke, was that he has a blood of a youkai, and an S-Class for that matter. When he was killed by Sensui during their fight (which is another story), he was brought back to life again by hiw own youkai blood. And so he was transformed to an S-Class youkai. It was not actually Yusuke's own power that killed Sensui but someone much stronger than him. It was Raizen, his youkai ancestor. And so Yusuke again embarks on another journey as he began his training under Raizen's people for yet another tournament that he himself had organized to determine who will rule the Makai world, since Raizen died after he left his kingdom t o Yusuke. But this time, Yusuke didn't win the tournament. It was a kind and humble youkai named Enki who became the champion and the ruler of Makai. Well, Yomi defeated Yusuke but since all his power are consumed in trying to defeat Yusuke, Yomi was already too exhausted to fight with Enki. And that ends the tournament. After that, he returned to Ningenkai (human world) to fulfill his promise to Keiko that they will get married after he returns. So that's all folks about Yusuke! |
