| Visions surrounded Hitomi as she was practicing her running skills one day. And then, it happens again, but this time, it was for real. What seemed to be like a dream has turned into reality. |
| Suddenly, the young boy in her vision was right in front of her carrying a sword and into a pursuit to slay the dragon. He is Van, who is suddenly transported to Earth without knowing it. He's only purpose is to kill the dragon, but with a different twist of fate, he was transported back to Gaea with Hitomi along with him. And that started everything. |
| The land of Gaea is being terrorized at that time by the Zaibach Empire when Hitomi was suddenly transported to that mysterious place. Fanelia, where Van came from and where he was it's crowned king, was burned to ground by the Zaibach empire. Nothing was left of his once beautiful Kingdom but only dry land. Van decided then to help Gaea and bring down the Empire that is causing pain & suffering to many people. And in that place Earth is referred to as "The Mystic Moon". Together, Hitomi and Van must help each other to retrieve the Legendary God of Protection- ESCAFLOWNE. With the power of the Escaflowne they can bring down the treacherous Zaibach Empire and restore peace in Gaea once again. |
