QC-3400/V6
THE ENGINE

The GEN3 setup is not tuned to be a huge monster but it has the hardware to compete. The list as follows: Roller Valvetrain complete with 1.6 ratio roller rockers, roller lifters, and lifter anti rotation bars that also shield the lower intake from hot oil from the lifter area, Canted valves like the GEN2 for unshrouding of air flow, super light hollow camshaft with hardend lobes, super light and sound reducing timing set with hardend chain, Heat reducing structrual aluminum oil pan with bosses and provisons for the crossbolted mains, windage tray, theroplastic lower intake gaskets further isolating the lower intake from heat, High flow intake manifold, revised intake ports and D shaped exhaust ports for better flow, exhaust manifold heat shields that substanially reduce underhood temperatures, moly coated pistons,  Revised cylinder block thats more stronger, absorbs more vibrations, and has Priority Main feed oil system. Also has small block Chevy style connecting rods, extra large mains, and sb Chevy sized rod throws. All of these features makes the bottom end durable like a truck motor. With the right performance parts, this engine can be a substantial, sturdy, lightweight, fuel effcient, cool running powerhouse with torque to spare.
The GEN3 3400 started out in an Oldsmobile Alero with 25,000 miles on it when pulled, made its way crated to a shop in rural Maryland where it was put up for auction on ebay. I wanted to try and do a GEN3 top end refit of the C-3200/V6, and at the time, the prices of everything that I needed was rather high, this engine though listed on ebay was going for cheap. I ultimately won it for $150. It came with the lower intake, heads which is what I needed, but lacking the fuel rail/injectors, upper intake and TB. The engine was also lacking all sensors, but it did come with a block heater:). Due to the engine's milage the inside of it were very clean and to the point of almost unused, It was in great shape.  The timing chain looks very tough though its thinner. The sprocket also have more teeth, possibly to cut down on drive chain noise.  When the 3.2 became disabled I had a big desicision on my hand. Either I repair the 3.2 or I can build up the the 3400 and see how far i can get with that.. I took the 3400 challenge.
