Does it cost anything to join the group?
We suggest a $2 per adult and $2 per child donation with a $6 family maximum per group visit.  This donation covers our on site childcare service during the group meetings.

Is this group associated with the Congregational Church?
No, this group is not affiliated with any religious group.  The Greater Portland Mothers' and Dads' Group is a non-profit, non-religious group dedicated to supporting parents through educational seminars and workshops and by providing an opportunity to share experiences with other parents.

Where do I go when I get to the church?
You may park in either parking lot and enter the door into the church from each lot (door to the left in the large lot).  Both doors will come into the same annex and you should head down stairs and look for us in the large meeting space with tables and chairs.

Are children included?
We provide on-site childcare for children up to six years old. Infants under 6 months are always welcome in the meeting room and older children when sleeping or nursing are also welcome in the meeting room.  Otherwise, we strongly encourage children to go to the play groups.

How long is a typical meeting and what do you do?
We meet from 9:30 - 11:30am.  From 9:30 to 10am parents arrive, drop their children with the appropriate babysitter and have a chance to grab a cup of coffee or tea and snack and chat for a little while. Our speakers speak from 10 - 11:00 (or so) leaving time before the end of the meeting for any questions from the group or a bit more socializing before picking up the children from the babysitters at 11:30.

Why should I consider joining the GPMDG?

Our group provides a wonderful opportunity to network with other parents, learn from a variety of speakers and let your children interact with their peers.

Does the group get together outside of the regular scheduled Tuesday Meetings?
Yes.  During the summer we have outside play  meetings
Summer Schedule which include informal gatherings at local beaches and parks.  We also have a social night about once a month.  To see more about gatherings outside of the normal Tuesday meetings click on this link: Social Events

What kinds of speakers or topics do you have?
We arrange for a variety of speakers throughout the year to address a variety of parenting issues such as discipline, parenting styles, and saving for college.  We also have meetings without speakers with topics such as tackle your to do list, your best money saving tips or book swaps. To learn more about the types of meetings we have, please  see our current schedule:
