Support this work if you can. Write to the Development and Regeneration Services (URGENT) We know that many people have written to DRS expressing concerns about the loss of Govanhill Baths and urging DRS and the Council to support this Trust’s ambitions, and we thank them for that . Under the circumstances we would urge all those who have not yet written to do so as soon as possible.
Even though we have won the most helpful support from MP Sarwar, MSP McAveety and Cllrs Millar and Cunning who have supported our accessing the baths we cannot afford to be complacent. We are attaching below a format of a letter you might want to consider sending by EMail or land mail as soon as possible to Mr. Frank Sheridan at DRS copied to Mr. Steve Inch the Head of the Service. Otherwise do something of your own.

Frank Sheridan Development and Regeneration Services Glasgow City Council Exchange House 229, George Street Glasgow G1 1QU
Dear Mr. Sheridan
I understand that you are in the process of advertising the availability of the Govanhill Baths to interested parties via a national advertisement and I am aware of what Historic Scotland has said about the building and its merits
I am writing to you to urge that that the Govanhill Baths Community Trust is given the opportunity to restore the baths and convert the complex into a Healthy Living Centre as indicated in its purposes posted on its Website.
I believe it is essential that a swimming facility and Healthy Living Centre is made available not only for the for the people of Govanhill and the Southside of Glasgow but for all citizens of Glasgow. It is a dearly loved, valuable and missed facility that should be restored.
Please acknowledge receipt of this EMail/letter.
Yours sincerely We would be most grateful if you could indicate your support for the Trust in writing and let us know if you think there are any ways in which you might assist us in our efforts or have other ideas you think might help. Email [email protected] or phone 0141 418 2755 or 07779995483. |
