| Strangling - bottom right A young maiden is chosen and imprisoned in a small prison-like room for 3669 days (round about 10 years), here she has no contact with the outside world and is looked after by masked priests to avoid any attachments to them. The maiden is made to feel lonely and want to die. The maiden is then taken to the Moon Shrine where she would enter the Moon Well and purify her body with moonlight. Once this was done, the family master, the priests and the Himuro family would take the maiden to the Rope Alter and tie her limbs to wheels. The wheels are turned until the limbs are dislocated or "pulled off". The bloody ropes are then tied infront of the Hell's Gate with the Holy Mirror near by, if done right then the Hell's Gate will remain closed. Blinding Ritual - bottom left The blinding ritual basically involves a maiden of holy power being taken down to the Blinding Room. There she is held down and then the "Blinding Mask" is thrust onto her. The mask is then placed on the Hell's Gate in order to weaken and bind the demons within until the strangling ritual can be completed. *Click images for a larger version* |
