In 1989, on a Montreal bus, 15
youth taunted a man with "faggot", then stabbed him
with scissors, hunting and kitchen knives. Joe Rose was
murdered.

In 1989, in Ottawa-Hull, some
youth were out to "roll a queer". Perpetrator
Thomas MacDougall held a fake gun to Alain Brosseau's head and
laughed when he freaked out. Perpetrator Jeffrey Lalonde
dangled Brosseau upside down off a bridge and said "Oh, I
like your shoes." and let go. Alain Brosseau was
murdered.

In 1993, in Ottawa-Hull, 2
strangers asked a man where he had been. When he named a
gay bar they said "Oh, you are a fag." and beat him
up. The man was hopitalized for 2 days.

In 1993, in Peterborough, someone
yelled "Hey Fag." and when the man turned around he
was beaten with a baseball bat. The man required
reconstructive surgery.

In 2000, at the University of
Guelph, "AIDS cures Fags" was spray painted outside
Johnston Hall. It was covered up with a Pride Flag and
messages like "celebrate diversity" and
"diversity cures ignorance".
