| October 13 Hello friends, golly gosh have we been busy. Friday night we played at Thurles Castle in Sydney with our buds Fullride20". It was a really cool show. The numbers were fairly good and we went hard. Although as you know with this little trio there is always drama. First Heidi got lost on the way and because she has been stressed out over computer probs and uni work she snapped and got the shits good and proper, then Dick got a call and one of his kids was taken to hospital. Thus putting the band in the right frame of mind to play. However as soon as we hooked into the tunes for the people all our worries went away for 40 minutes. You got to love the rock 'n' roll effect. But that is not all. During the set the cops were called cause we were too loud as well as someone threw a rock over the wall and it hit one of the guys from Fullride as they sat and watched us. Then yesterday we headed back to the Kreftorium to begin work on our ep. FINALLY!!! the goal was to get the good drum tracks and take those to Tim's house to finish the cd. Well we did that but we were cutting it so fine that we finished a cool half hour before we were supposed to play at the Hunter on Hunter. Ahh the Hunter, the venue of the 1st ever GTBJ gig all those years ago. Our 1st gig there was invaded by that pest guy that invades everything. He jumped up on where were playing and started doing taht crazy shit he does. As a result I spat on him and kicked hin in the hip. (Quite punk of me indeed) Then he was kicked out. Not bad for our very 1st gig. But now the hunter is different. It is way more band friendly. They have a stage and there is plenty more room. I liked it alot. We might be going back there in the future. As for the show we felt quite out of place. Power pop with 2 Metallica styled metal bands. Whilst they were really great bands we did not quite fit in with what they expected. However we did impress them with Heidi playing a rough rendition of the bass solo off Kill em all and I broke into Cowboys from Hell. That got us a bit of respect. Anywho we need to sleep now. Cam October 2 Last night we played a totally killer set at the Cat 'n' Fiddle in Balmain. The was an awesome crowd (it was a tuesday night) and I think we won some new supporters which is great. They were really loud and I saw some head banging action at times as well. We did not play any new songs because we have not played together since our last show at the Harp. Dick took a short break with his family for a holiday. We played really well and it was cool. However I can not wait until the next show when we play the new tune. We might have to have a rehearsal first. I am heading back to the Kreftorium tomorrow to do some more guitars and vocals on the demos. FIST Cam September 30 Yesterday Heidi and I spent more time on our demo at Peter Kreft's Kreftorium Studios. We are really putting a lot of time into these demos. The results so far are coming out really well. Basically these demos that we are doing are "practice" runs for when we go back to Tim's and complete our single/e.p. It has been hard work. We are paying alot of attention to different sounds and getting the right combinations of sounds to give the songs character. The new song "I want you" is sounding pretty good. It sounds like regular GTBJ but with some nice dynamic twists and turns. The other tune "Something Special" is becoming hard. The song has been working live but in the studio we can not rely on visuals to get the song happening. As a result we are trying guitar and amp combinations as well layering vocals. It's been very hard but I hope it works to get the tune. We have never worked so hard on a recording. It gives a real insight into how much effort goes into something for release. I will definantly be putting 1 or both of these tunes up for you guys to hear. But it may be a week or 2 before that happens. FIST Cam Past Entries Index |
