What's a Gothik Faerie?
flippant response: -
Never mind. If you have to ask, you probably wouldn't understand thee answer.
honest response: -
We are a small scattered band of artistic social misfits; drawing on goth, pagan, punk, hippie, otherkin, and Rennie scenes, and not fitting perfectly well into any of them.

2)
Do I have to be a Goth?
or, the Goths around here don't like me much..
flippant response: -
So?
That is to say, Good.
honest response: -
While it is entirely possible to be 'a goth' and be compatible with thee GFG, you will probably fit in with us better if you don't really qualify as a trendi- or ultra- goth. We say this because the 'club goth' scene is very strongly oriented around music and fashion. While we appreciate both gothic music and fashion, and at times participate in the gothic 'scene', our primary orientation is spiritual and philosophical.

Do I have to be gothic?
flippant response: -
Well, duh!
sorry. flippant, but stupid. but its cold and rainy, so bear with me until the caffeine kicks in ;p
honest response: -
Yes; else why define as a Gothik Faerie? What gothic means, however, is something we prefer to leave as undefined as possible. To us, it suggests darkness, nighttime, cemeteries, autumn, wilted flowers, velvet, heavy incense - among other things. if you feel it fits you, it probably does. |
4)
Do I have to be a faerie?
flippant response: -
No, no, don't tempt me - ! Otherwise the words 'girlfriend' and 'troll' will both appear in this sentence, and someone could get hurt.
honest response: -
No, but it helps. However, we should make it clear that our 'faerie' has nothing to do with sexual orientation (we are open to any and all sorts; its just not the issue here). As it happens, many of us identify as faerie, elven, or otherwise non-human souls. You don't have to be one, but if that idea strikes you as weird or makes you uncomfortable, this is probably not the group for you.

5)
Do I have to be a pagan?
flippant response: -
you know, formatting it this way seemed amusing when i started, but now it's getting old.. i'm not even going to try to come up with a smart answer for this one.
honest response: -
Strictly speaking, no. Altho our personal outlook is pagan based, we also honor and are inspired by Taoist, Hindu, Christian and other paths. As long as you don't hold beliefs contradictory or antagonistic to ours, we see no need for you to 'convert'.
|
6)
But I already belong to a coven/temple/circle/lodge.
flippant response: -
How jolly for you! (oh yes. the wit machine was really working overtime on that one. how very embarrasing that i've let this stand for months.. )
honest response: -
Seriously, as long as your other affiliations aren't to Focus on the Family, Operation Rescue, and the Moral Majority, the only potential conflict we see to membership in other groups is where and how you commit your time.
|
7)
Are you part of the Faerie Tradition?
flippant response: -
Absolutely! i was initiated by Glinda the Good, who was initiated by Tinkerbell, who took initiation from Queen Mabh Hers'Elf.
honest response: -
Assuming you mean Victor Anderson or Francesca Dubie's Faerie Tradition, no. Although descriptions of them sound like they may be closer to our outlook than many 'traditional' Wiccan groups. However, we do consider ours'elves to be following A Faerie Tradition, and we find it interesting that many of the things we have discovered or come to Believe on our own are also included in other Faerie Tradition paths. As at least part of our path has come from contact and experience with thee Faerie Realm, we do feel we can call this an authentic Faerie Tradition.

So what _do_ you believe?
flippant response: -
Ah, you haven't read the Intro letter or Beliefs pages yet. It's taken quite a few words to explain it adequately there, and you want a summary? (sigh)
alright.
honest response: -
We believe in thee beauty ov darkness, in passionate involvement
with *something*, in art, music, solitude, majik, in transformative
experiences. We do not believe in 'evil' (an over-used concept anyway),
sacrificing babies or kittens or puppies, tie-dyes for all occasions,
or compulsory attendance at Marilyn Manson concerts.
|
9)
OK, I did read them, and I don't know what I think about all that Veil stuff..
flippant response: -
Neither do we, really. :)
honest response: -
Seriously, tho, all we ask is that you allow that WE believe it and that that's - ok. If you decide you want to get more into it, well, we'll talk.
|
10)
I'm interested, but not sure how involved i can (or want to) get.
flippant response: -
i don't have one, ok? why won't you people leave me alone?? when will these voices S T O P ? ? ! ?
honest response: -
thee Gothik Faerie Grove is always entirely voluntary. Although there are a few basic qualifications for taking on more responsibility in the Grove, no such commitment is necessary for participation. Your major concern is probably how likely are you to be in northeast Ohio anytime soon, and/or how likely we are to be actively planning an event.
