1987. The brand new Fox network launched a one hour action drama called 21 Jump Street which was a series about a group of under age looking police officers who went undercover in high schools to catch young students who were heading down the wrong path in life. And although the show could occasionally be corny, it was an extremely well written program that dealt with some pretty difficult topics at times (AIDS, abortion, rape, suicide, racism, etc), particularly the first two seasons - before Patrick Hasburgh departed the show.
Now that they have finally released this series on DVD (fifty million letters later from me to Stephen J. Cannell, sorry sir), I felt it was time to pay tribute to the series that catapulted Johnny's incredible career and discuss some of Johnny's discrepancies with the network and writers of the series.
I hope you enjoy my homage to this classic series. And I look forward to the upcoming release of Season 4 on November 1, 2005!
Stay tuned...
