What do you get when you cross a civ-builder, a shooter, an RTS, and online elements? I'm not sure what it's called, but you'll have to wait for DirectX11 for computers to be able to handle the scale of the graphics. One person plays as the King, and gets to play a massive, strategic Civilization type game. He will mastermind all the grand strategy and command his five or so generals. Each general plays a sort of turnbased/realtime RTS game. A general will have a base somewhere, and get reports from his troops. To imagine what reports look like, think of Empire Earth 2 when you bring up the big mini-map. It will have little dots and arows and crosses representing the different troops, points of strategic interest, and places there might be troops and points of interest. The general will then add his own dots, arrows, circles and marks to show what he wants done. He has a direct connection to his commanders and the king through the players mic. Each general has control of several commanders. Commanders take their orders direcly form their general, and relay it to their AI troops, Battlefield 2 style. Players can also choose to be hired as a mercenary. Mercenarys are better than regular troops, and take their orders from either a commander, a general, or directly from the King. They can go with the rest of the troops to turn the tide of a battle, to steal some seceret technology or secret code, or to sabotage. Watch out though, some mercenarys may take bribes or turn to the other side. With their money, they can buy better equipment.
Communication is vital in this game. The King can choose to cmmunicate through slow letters, easily intercepted radio, or expensive satellite, and the distance of a general from the battle determines how often he gets reports. Mercenarys will ofen be asked to intercept messages or to sabotage or reprogram radio and satellite controls.
Customization will be a part too. Before each war, the King gets to choose a ceratan amout of bunus's, Age of Empires III style.    Unit balance so far goes this way: troops are quite cheap to recruit, and have small to moderate upkeep. Troops are good at taking cities,Tanks and stuff are expensive and have slightly higher upkeep. They are very good at destroying troops, and excellent at destroying and taking cities. Airplanes are expensive to get and have
very expensive upkeep, due to needing an airport. Fighters and bombers can blow the snot out of anything on land, but cities with AA guns can blow them away like flies. Note that bonbers can deal massive damage to cities, but will almost definitily get blown away immeadiatley afterwards. Ships are extremely expensive, can destroy air fairly well, and can bomabard cities with ease, but not great accuracy. When they come into port, it costs a ton to resupply an repair them, but you don't have to very often.
There will also be trains.
