HISTORY
Hit the track Jack!

Foley's namesake_Jack Foley_got started as a radio drama sound effects man at NBC radio in the late 1920's. All of  his effects were performed live in the studio behind and in time with the actors. Eventually, he adapted and developed this method as a way to add sound to films. While working at Universal Pictures during the 30's and 40's Jack established the process that is now known as Foley.  He estimated that over the years he walked over five thousand miles in the studio performing footsteps. Jack received many awards over the course of his career, including the Golden Reel Award voted on by his colleagues. Jack passed away in 1967, but his name lives on in sound studios around the world.

"except for situations where the foley becomes animated, the best foley tracks are invisible."
