Syptoms of Cri du Chat

These are the main symptoms of Cri du Chat

Main symptoms

-high-pitched cry/voice(gets lower as child grows)

-high palate

-round face

-receding chin

-widely spaced eyes

-low nasal bridge

-folds of skin over upper eyelid

Infants usually display

-poor muscle tone

-difficulty sucking or swallowing

-gastric reflux

-constipation

-ear infections

-upper respiratory infections

Some minor problems include

-mild visual impairment

-slight hearing loss

-minor skeletal abnormalities

Some children have more serious physical problems such as

-heart abnormalities

-kidney abnormalities

-cleft lip and/or palate

-hernias

-scholiosis

-hip dislocation

Those who have the disease have a reduced life span. The oldest reccorded person with the disease is a woman in her sixties.
