Have Pity.
Having said that, although I despise many of these Goreans, for their weakness and stupidity, I pity them too, for there is certainly something greatly lacking in their lives. Perhaps the most to be pitied of all Goreans is a man who has built up a reputation for himself online, and this reputation as Gorean leader matters greatly to him. He has frequently stated that he is leaving online, as there are so few Goreans, and his wonderful Lifestyle is being corrupted. The truth of the matter is, he does not wish to be denounced by the Author of the books. He has spent a great deal of time telling everyone that he is the creator of all online Gor, and he has hinted strongly that the Author agrees with all that he says. However, this man is as much a victim as the many girls he has hurt with his deceptions in befriending them and then renouncing them later to his buddies as *subbies*. He is totally addicted to online.
Although he repeatedly insists that he is not a lonely man, having both a Free Companion and slaves, (at least one of these *slaves* resides with another man to whom she is married). there was a time when he spent eighteen hours every day online. He never stays away from the Internet for long despite all his fierce declarations of leaving online. His most recent venture at the time of writing, is to have set up a web page where he is regurgitating some of his past writings, and has set up yet another forum where he spouts his erudite wisdom when he tells us that if a girl "Begs Release" no matter what degree of abuse her Master is inflicting on her and her children then she is a *failure*
Recent tragic events have brought Gorean interaction into the limelight. It seems that a *Master* who met girls online is responsible for slaying them. The Gorean Community have been swift in denouncing this man.
They insist that he is not a Gorean but from the ordinary BDSM community. If ever the concept of what is considered Gorean is tested in a court, I think that there is a strong likelihood that it would be decided that such behaviour is entirely Gorean. I imagine it may be hard for them to declare that they take the philosophy for their lifestyle from these chronicles, but not this bit where the slave is almost drowned, or this bit where she is thrown to sleen, or this bit where she is hamstrung. Not this bit when she is kept for days in a box where she cannot move, or this bit where she is chained upright by her hair unable to move for days in a cage. Or this bit where she is used by youths for target practice in knife throwing.
Or the bit when she is staked out as bate for some fearsome Gorean animal. No not those bits and the hundred like it. Gorean men don’t think things like that are right at all....... There are some Gorean Lifestylers that I quite like. They are pleasant men, who when they say they are Gorean, actually mean that they believe in men being the Master in the home. Some simply live with their wife and children and enjoy the books and chat online. Some live with women who submit as slaves, and are kept naked in silks, and chained at night, and are fed out of their Master’s hands, and who take many other little bits of the books into their life. I wish they would not be so stupid and call themselves Gorean, but that is their only sin. In reality what has happened is that the myth of being a Gorean has come to mean something so different to those who say they live it, compared to what is written in the books, it actually is utterly meaningless.
