Phffffft your merely a Dom, whereas we are honourable Goreans.
If a man is simply interested in BDSM activity he is a Dom. A Dom can only be a Dom when he has someone to Dom. A Gorean man is a Gorean all the time. A Gorean man holds his honour or his codes and his Home Stone above all other considerations. Slaves and their interaction of them are unnecessary to their lives. By Home Stone, one must assume they mean love of their country, which is the closest anomaly there is to such a tradition here on earth. Most online Goreans, who seem to come from mainly the United States, Australia, Canada, and some parts of Northern Europe, seem to not be so bothered with allegiance to their homelands as they are to be identified with some online Tavern or Website, and they pledge their allegiance to this *Home* Honour is talked about all the time by Gorean Masters.

Exactly how their sense of honour is different from the rest of the human race has never yet been explained. But undoubtedly this is something that makes them feel special. They rarely give clear cut examples of what they perceive Goreaness to be with regard to honour. A favourite response if you try to discuss with them exactly what they mean by honour is: “We have taught you how to talk the talk. We are not going to teach you how to walk the walk.”
In the books the men
certainly behaved with honour as perceived by that culture, but it was a very
different perspective what is considered honourable to most of us in the West.
I would venture to say that much of the conduct online rather suggests a way
of behaving that is out of kilter with what is usually considered honourable.
I have seen lies, deceit, calculated attempts to discredit and hurt others.
Wildly inaccurate statements about people and what they surmise about them,
and lots of very immature bickering. However, it is this mantle of *honour*
that the men online say is what attracts them to a Gorean Lifestyle.
As honour is a staple part of so much fiction one may ask why there are not huge groups of people saying they live a Lifestyle taken from the philosophy from the pen of vast plethora of fiction writers. Insert the name of the work of fiction here [ ] and I or you can in due course show you how it could be used to live a honourable Lifestyle. It would seem apparent that it is a lot more to do with the sex and slave girls of Gor that attract the hoards, then their concept of honour, so alien to our understanding of that notion.

Most of us are not at all concerned about teaching our children about honour, but many are concerned with their children knowing anything about sex. I have yet to see a Gorean website that does not warn off children. Eighteen is the minimum age, but many seem to insist on twenty one if not twenty five. Again utterly ungorean. The girls on that planet, (the same as much of our own), are considered to reach maturity in their early teens. If being Gorean is mostly about honour, why the concern about youngsters joining the club? There are many alternate lifestyles to choose from, and most embrace the inclusion of children. I think it is just possible that Goreans are concerned that being Gorean is actually mostly a sex game, and that is why children are not welcome to join them.
