Free Woman's
Handbook

Forward
I was approached recently and asked to write a list of rules for acceptable behavior by FW in the online taverns. Not as easy as it sounded. It seemed to come down to two basic things.... "Remember your place" and "Know when to shut up." But, the more I thought about this, the more I realized that this is not as clear to those who are just finding Gor. Thinking back to when I entered Gor, I heard those two commands quite often, and truthfully, only after a great deal of reading and studying and introspection, was I able to fully comprehend what they meant.

Remember your place. Two years ago, my answer to that would have been, "My place is wherever the hell I want it to be, Pal.... I am Freeeeee!!!!"

Close... but no cigar.

Know when to shut up. Well... I know when to shut up now. Putting that into practice is something I'm still working on. I still have those times when I'm on a roll and shutting me up is like trying to stop a freight train. But, I'm working on it.

There is no tried and true, step by step way to find your place here. Each woman is different and each of us follows our own path. But, for those of you who are new, these are a few basics that will hopefully allow you to interact with Gorean men without stepping on toes. Of course, Gorean men being what they are, they will surely let you know the minute you step out of line.

1) Remember your place. Do not presume to think you are in any way equal to men. While you are not a slave, you could very easily be treated like one.

2) Do not interfere in the business of men. When a man is correcting or punishing a slave, stay out of it. You are not here to "protect" the slaves. That strong control is what they seek here.

3) Conduct yourself with dignity. The operative word in "Free Woman" is "woman." You are not a child or a playmate. You are an adult woman.

4) Refrain from using profane language. If you wish to be treated as a lady, behave like one.

5) Be respectful. You need not respect or revere every man to treat him respectfully. If you can't do that, ignore.

6) Do not challenge men. Stating that "No man is strong enough to collar me!" is regarded as "Courting the collar" (a wish to be treated like a slave), and a request that someone will be more than willing to oblige.

7) Do not argue. There is a difference between disagreeing and arguing. While you are entitled to voice your opinions, when a man tells you to hush, do so.

8) No lapping. While public displays of affection are acceptable, blatant sexual behavior is not.

9) Do not compete with slaves. If the man you are talking to turns his attention to a slave, kneel quietly and wait. If this makes you uncomfortable, then leave quietly. No need for catty comments. Jealousy is unattractive and there is no place for it here.

10) Last but not least..... Remember, this is his world, not yours.
Enjoy the journey,
