Gordon is located just off Interstate 20 in North Central Texas. The town, which sits in the middle of seven hills, is only an hour away from Ft.Worth and Abilene. With a population near 500, the town supports several businesses. Businesses include a hotel, a bank, Ace Hardware store, dry goods store, western goods store, Ford Dealership, five gas stations, two restaurants, a family clinic, art gallery, two grocery stores, and an insurance agency to name a few.
Gordon is home to the Gordon Independent School District, recognized multiple times by the state of Texas as an exemplary school district(1995-present). The school is also home to the Fighting Longhorn football team, that won 109 games in the 1990's making it the winningest program in it's class. The team also won eight district championships, and two state titles in the 90's.
In all, Gordon is a quiet, tidy, and thriving small community and a great place to raise a family.
